Perhaps your parking brake needs adjusted? Or "needed" adjusted, as it almost surely does now. I adjust the parking brake until the truck won't move with it on, and when I put it on I put it ON. No way the truck is going to be driven, much less two miles. Why do I do that? Because I once drove my father's car a mile with the park brake on.

Well done! -
They certainly do look great! Well done. As for the fuse, it may not be a screw through a wire - you may have pinched a wire over a sharp piece of metal.

'86 EFI 5.0 Missing Lack of Power
Gary Lewis replied to fords4life's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
I don't want to sidetrack things, but Vinny may be riding today so I'll ask: How much manifold vacuum do you have at idle? -
I'm tempted to ask if that's why the top's been off, but won't.

Website & Forum Suggestion Box
Gary Lewis replied to Gary Lewis's topic in Forum & Website Discussions
Steve - Could you take a screen shot of it and post it? I don't know what slide-down menu you are talking about. Also, what device, OS, and browser are you using? It may be that you are seeing something I'm not seeing. Thanks in advance. I'm sorry it is annoying you and hope to get it fixed ASAP. -
Converting to mass air on the 5.0
Gary Lewis replied to ScubaSteve's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Bill - Which of those were EEC-IV? Wouldn't it be far easier for him to convert to mass air that way than to convert to EEC-V? -
More onion rings.

Ok, I’ll wish you a LOT of luck. Hope you get painted tonight and assembled tomorrow - long before the rain descends. 👍

Converting to mass air on the 5.0
Gary Lewis replied to ScubaSteve's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
No true experience. But I’m planning to convert Big Blue to EEC-V, which is mass air and sequential injection. However, I’m going from a carb to that. In your case I would think that the main issue will be the wiring harness & ECU. But, the first question will be whether you are going EEC-IV or V. I think, but could easily be wrong, that some of the IV’s were mass air on the 5.0. If that is true then that would greatly simplify the problem for you. (I know Steve83 recently corrected me on this topic, but was it for just the 460 or for all engines?) -
Bummer! Do you have to replace the cracked window? On the chrome piece, is it the lock like on the sliding rear window? If so, hold the windows be put in without the lock? As for the paint, it is thin but surely 3 more cans will fix that.

Sully - I’m so sorry! Every day is a blessing for all of us, but many of us don’t yet understand that like you do. As for the literature, I’m interested but am in no hurry. Take your time and wait for things to cool down.

NOS left bed side for 8'
Gary Lewis replied to 1986F150Six's topic in eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, & Kijiji Finds
YES!!! That's the difference! And it is fairly easy to adapt cables to an earlier bed, but not straps to a later bed. So you need to know which one that is. http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/beds-tailgates-and-components.html -
Vinyl fabric for 1982 (?)

Dunno. Can't find the referenced "L5813" in the catalog, but that may be the original vendor's #. -

Interesting. He's right, there is one bedside for 80 - 82, and another 83 - 86. And I don't know what the difference is. Something in the way the fuel filler or door mounts? -
XLS FOR SALE KNOXVILLE TN
Gary Lewis replied to Ray Cecil's topic in eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, & Kijiji Finds
As said on the other thread, the radio bezel has been messed up and the grille swapped, but otherwise looks pretty good. Going to look at it? -
Ray - Nice looking truck. Shame that the radio bezel, which is rare, was butchered. And the black grille has been replaced, but that would be easily fixed with some paint. Beyond that it needs some work, but is in pretty good shape. Thinking of buying it?

Sully - I'm sorry for your issues. And it isn't a problem for us if you go away for a bit. And thanks for the offer on the EVTM. But David found me the two I was missing in the 1980 - 86 range, so I'll have the whole set soon. (But getting them on the site may take a while as EVTM's are labor-intensive to add. However, I may research new ways of doing that. Hmmmm!) But might you have other than EVTM's in your attic?

I don't have any, but it looks like the Ranger ® and the Bronco II (B) share them if they have headlining: -
Gas mileage report [4.9L / manual OD]
Gary Lewis replied to 1986F150Six's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Idle vacuum is said to reduce about 1" for every 1000' of elevation. We were at about 700' here when we adjusted things, and you are about 5,830 in Centennial. So we should be able to add 5 to your vacuum reading giving us 19", and that is a good reading for an engine with a moderate cam. And David is right - you may be able to run just a bit more advance, but that'll require painting more lines so you can tell more precisely where you are. My approach would be to just loosen the clamp bolt slightly, and then use a wooden or rubber mallet on the vacuum advance to move the distributor. But remember that the vacuum advance is held in by two little screws, so go easy on the tapping. -
I'm no expert, but having lived in London where there are plenty of Irish, and having spent time more recently on the Emerald Isle (including getting the "gift of gab"), you seem to have retained your Irish phraseology and accent. However, unlike when I lived in London and was able to figure out a Brit's home from his accent, I can't differentiate between Irish accents. As for the Lewis family, are they originally from Wales? Or the Isle of Lewis? I don't know where my Lewis ancestors came from, but an uncle that spent some time in England and did a bit of research seemed to think it was from Wales.

The 300 six is also 3/4 of another very good engine: the 400 six! If it didn’t require so much modification to make one fit, I would put one in my crew cab... for those of you still scratching your head, I’m referring to the 6.6L Ford/New Holland diesel found in ‘85-‘94 F600-F900 trucks. I wasn't aware of the 400 six diesel. That would be cool! Yes, Tim has lots going on w/o adding more products. -
And Italian? Most of us are of varied backgrounds. I don't really know what mine is.
-
Gavin - The guys & gals here will tell you that my favorite saying is that these trucks are like onions. We just keep peeling them and crying. But, eventually we have a mess of onion rings. So, keep peeling. And please start a thread on your truck. We'll follow along and offer encouragement and advice.

Lots of the 6-banger lovers on here. And, the 300 has my favorite bore and stroke, so is 3/4 of my favorite engine.
