  1. Ok, got it. And thanks to Steve we now know that the later relay/solenoid is better.
  2. Why not buy a running 4wd and swap, then sell a running 2wd?
  3. Jon it just occurred to me that you've done both a 4x4 swap, and shortened a frame...they're a couple big accomplishments in the old truck modification category! I've located everything for this swap...it's just a matter if I want to do it or not. One guy about an hour from here that specializes in Ford truck parts says he has everything needed. It would mostly all be from 1987-1996 trucks, but he does still have some Bullnose parts scattered around. I've also found a complete truck for a potential full swap. I'd much rather do it this way...like you said, to have everything all together. The whole works. Going to check it out today and see what the scoop is on it. The swap, technically speaking, seems pretty easy. However, I get it...the stuff is heavy and awkward. I would most certainly do this at my work where I have access to a forklift and overhead lifts. I did my 5spd swap at home, on the floor, with all four of my 2wd tires on the floor, and I'm paying for it now with shoulder troubles...lol. The older I get, the better I was! One thing easily forgotten is the transmission cover. Yes, you can cut a hole in your floor, but that's not the way to do it, and unless your 2wd truck is an auto you'll probably have no bolt-on tranny cover. So that's one of the little details that a parts truck gives you. Another is the wiring for the 4wd indicator on the dash.
  4. He's in Canada, eh?...lol. Must be out on the prairies. Does anybody know where these Fanatik guys are based? It is a lovely looking truck. I'd have no use for such an animal with a gas or diesel engine, but I can still appreciate it for what it is. Body and paint look nice on it. Cool swap too. I was surprised at how quiet it was in the cab driving down the road. I figured it would sound like a tractor. Oh...and don't miss that sloppy steering...hahaha. Steering wheel going back and forth while driving straight down the road...lol, boy do I recognize that. HA! He is a bit painful, but the truck is cool. Pretty well done for all of the changes it has suffered.
  5. That's a neat toy. But I don't think it would weigh my 460. By the way, do you use the furniture dolly with the "reinforcement" to move engines?
  6. Welcome to the Bullnose Forum! You aren't a hoarder. You just buy wisely, and it is less expensive to buy whole trucks than it is to buy parts from the store individually. But it does sound like you have purchased several trucks. But the end goal is the '84 w/a 300 and the '85 w/a 460? Seems to be a good goal. But you'll have to start threads about both of them - in the main section of the forum. By the way, we have a member's map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map) and I can add you to it if you just give me your city.
  7. Brad - Ford's master parts catalog doesn't show an E0TZ 8150-A. The options are shown here: Exterior/Exterior Trim And Moulding and on the Grilles, Moulding, & Headlight Doors tab. But, Ron/reamer says he found the right PPG paint code for the argent, as explained in this thread. Hope that helps.
  8. Steve - I don't think that was Rick's question, but I could easily be wrong. I think he was asking if the "old style" solenoid with the "side terminals", as you called them, but with two small terminals was better than the one with one small terminal. Anyway, that's the way I took it, although maybe Rick can comment. Anyway, regardless of the original question, your answer is quite interesting. I didn't know how the newer style solenoids looked on the inside, and that explains a lot. Thanks, I appreciate the info.
  9. Easy peasy - you can't. Only I can. Just give me your city and I'll add you. But perhaps I need to explain on that page that I'm the only one that can edit it?
  10. I just glued vacuum hose in. But someone on FTE found the right gasket a few years ago. Wish I remember what it is/was.
  11. Yes, so many things to do! And where to start? But it looks like you have a good plan, Stan. I hope it comes together just right. Man, that'll be a lot of improvement on the Blue Mule.
  12. There were several grilles, and they varied by year, as shown here: Exterior/Exterior Trim And Moulding and then the Grilles, Moulding, & Headlight Doors tab.
  13. Sounds good, Angelo. But you can embed it here. Hit "Share" on Youtube, then "Embed", and copy the embed code. And on here click "Embed" then "Embed Tags" and paste the code between the ">" and the "
  14. Yes, it is. But you might want to upgrade to a 3G.
  15. First, what do those yo-yos on FTE know? Oh wait! I recognize some of them. Ok, so it is probably the choke relay, although there does seem to be some discrepancy with the wire colors - both in the FTE thread as well as here. Further, the EVTM contradicts itself. The schematic above is from the 1985's page for 5.8L carb circuits in the Electronic Engine Controls section. Note that it says the connection goes to Page 15. The schematic below is from Page 15, and it clearly says only the 4.9L engines have a connection to the carb circuits on the Electronic Engine Control page. All else go directly to the choke. Hmmm, can't be both ways. But, let's assume that's what it is. Then why is the relay buzzing? I'd say there's a problem with the alternator's stator output. If you look at the schematic you'll see that the stator isn't grounded, and that it relies on the diodes. I think one or more of the diodes are blown.
  16. I had wondered that as well, but there appears to clearly be a black/yellow wire in the pic and I can't find it in any of the EVTM illustrations I've looked at. Here's the carb ones:
  17. Wow, that is a lot of progress, Dave! Little details like that just eat up time, so you did well.
  18. I suspect the black one is the trailer lights relay. But don't know what the silver one is. We need to know what the wire and connector colors are going to both of those relays. And each wire should have a solid color and a secondary color, but you may have to uncover the wire from in a covering to be able to tell the colors.
  19. Yep. And, tell us how you wired it so we can ensure we have it right for others.
