  1. That's a screaming deal for less than $100. But I'm not sure that diesel tach will read correctly on the Isuzu. Jonathan/FordF834 can tell us what the input is for it, but it may not be an industry norm. Anyway, I too am looking forward to more on this truck.
  2. Yes - congrat's, I think. On EFI, I really don't know much. But here's some info: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/efi.html With the truck being a long-bed you'll need to acquire a different rear driveshaft. And if the AOD is a different length than an M5OD you'll need a different front driveshaft. Right? Speaking of the tranny, any thought of using the AOD? If not won't you need to find a 4wd M5OD?
  3. I don't have the cross-reference that converts ID/engineering #'s to part numbers as I'm in DFW and it is in the shop. And the MPC doesn't have the ID #'s, which is what he is quoting, for the hose and plastic adapter. But the MPC does have the ID # for the snorkels showing. Here's what D7UE-9D626 fits. Note that he said it "appears to be the same as the D7TE-9D626 ones that I have removed from trucks with a 4.9, 300 engine". But, it is obviously different since it has different part numbers. However, I have no clue what the differences are.
  4. Compare that price to the diesel one you just posted. Wow, this one's expensive. And, since you can re-pin an '80 to take an '81 or later cluster, it is hardly worth paying for the one-off one. Hmmm, the re-pin info is on FTE, posted by Paul if I remember correctly. Maybe we need at least a link to it, or copy it and put it on here as well?
  5. Yes, welcome! David mentioned the member’s map (Bullnose Forum/Member’s Map). If you give me a city I can easily add you. Glad you are aboard.
  6. You're right Gary. I'd say the engine label is partially to blame here. Not all that long ago, there were three late 1970's Ford trucks at the local pick N pull with 351M engines in them. Funny, the engines were surprisingly intact...I guess nobody wanted them or any parts from them;). Anyway, I looked at the labels on all of the trying to figure out what engines they were, and they all had that 351/400M thing on them....but all that was doing was indicating what the engine "family" was... A line or two below that showed the actual displacement;). Yes, it does say "351M/400" but, as you say, that's the engine family. Too many people have construed that to be the engine itself.
  7. Nice truck. Wonder what it will go for. I've put it on my "research list" on eBay so will find out. But I think it'll go into the high teens. However, I think the ad is very poorly written. And a 351/400M? He doesn't even know what engine is in it? 224 words and not a period? I have a nephew that is a guru on selling, and buying for that matter, on eBay and Craigslist, and he sometimes dumbs-down his adverts. Perhaps this is someone like he, but better (worse)?
  8. So true. But for some reason I've not been able to get the rose's owner to agree that I can work on it.
  9. Jonathan, the "old man" [much younger when I met him than I now am], who instilled in me the love for older vehicles, said that by maintaining originality, when time to sell comes, you have a much larger market base. He mentioned that the sales folks spent considerable time researching what the market desired, when the vehicle was designed. On the flipside of that coin, when young, a friend of mine had a motorcycle and after a while, paid to have his initials professionally painted to the top of the gas tank. Can you imagine how difficult it was for him to find a buyer with the same initials? That's funny! Janey's car is a GLK, and my initials are GKL. I've thought of swapping the letters, but doubt it'll make much difference when it comes sale time.
  10. Its output looks reasonable, but I don't have anything of known weight in that range that I could use to check it; or another known-calibrated scale to check it against. Not without a really-strong lever & fulcrum. I'd be interested to read yours, but there's a procedure in the manual & built into this display head. It involves setting a near-zero point, and a near-full-scale point. I'd certainly be interested to know how "reasonable" it is! But I have a friend whose business uses a big scale (who knows how accurate that thing is, but it's available) that I planned to use to calibrate mine. I just have to go over there when they're not busy, and figure out some rigging that can withstand ~5 tons. If you have to have essentially zero and full scale to calibrate then the smaller one is going to be much help. Ok, that won't work. But it looks like you have a plan.
  11. Gtanns - Excellent progress! Love it. How long did all that take? As for painting in the living room, I could tell you aren't married. On the fuel tank situation, I have a 38 gallon Bronco tank that'll go in the rear of Big Blue, and the 19 gallon mid-ship tank will stay. And I'm going to use the later Fuel Delivery Modules like Steve83 mentioned. Just have to work out the resistance change from the later senders to match our gauges, and I'm good to go.
  12. Haha! Any advice on how to mount/stick it all together ?? For mounting, mine came with a bracket. But, if I remember correctly, the bracket had to be mounted to whatever on the engine before the regulator mounted to the bracket or you couldn't get to the mounting bolt. And, assuming you didn't get the return-style regulator, you put the gauge in the spare outlet hole.
  13. It is clean. And a lot of money has been spent on the engine. But I think it is a bit high for what it is. Anyway, I have it on my "research" with eBay.
  14. I missed that, which begs the question why they didn't post a pic of the right side.
  15. Not bad, but it is a lot of money for something that doesn't have much of a description nor pics of the whole right side. That side may be pancaked or perfect. Who knows?
  16. Looks like the ones I have, and they work great. (In spite of them saying "Holley". )
  17. Didn't Jonathan mention the other day that all of the 83-84 bezels had the upshift indicator? My '84 has it. I just didn't expect a diesel bezel to have it. But "all" would include diesel.
  18. Let us know what you find. I can't find a "dark argent" paint in the catalog.
  19. Rust&crust - You are now on the map. And, you are close to me in Skiatook, OK. You should plan to come to the 2019 Garagemahal Ford Truck Show & Swap Meet on September 14th.
  20. Yep, for about that price you can have a repro, and I'd far rather buy one with new plastic in it than one that is over 30 years old.
  21. The reinforcement is a pair of steel bars embedded in the blue plastic frame, connecting the casters on the long sides. The wood is just the cradle I built on top to STORE the engine on the dolly so it's easy to move around my shop or shipping container. The 4.6L is on an identical dolly with its own cradle (each, screwed to its dolly). I'm thinking of buying some more dollies before TSC runs out or raises the price... I can't even buy the 4 casters alone for that price ($20). BTW I also have a 10Kip digital hanging scale, but I didn't want to pay the extra ~$80 for calibration, and I haven't gotten around to really calibrating it yet. https://supermotors.net/getfile/1062712/thumbnail/scale10k.jpg Is your lighter scale calibrated? Can you use it to calibrate the heavier one? As for the dollies, I'll check them out.
  22. I can't find that part number in the catalog. Nor do the mirror kits tell what is in them.
