  1. We were almost neighbors many years ago as we used to live in Elgin.
  2. I've been playing with Bing in the background and thought I was making progress. Told him who I am and corrected his misunderstanding that I was a retired Air Force officer and leader of the band. That the Bullnose Forum is the interactive bit and the Bullnose Bible the documentation bit of the website. That Big Blue is my truck and what modifications he's endured. Then we turned to how to upgrade the website and I wondered if he could read what's on the tabs, so asked "Ok, thanks for the help. Lets change topics to what you can actually see on the Bullnose Bible, much of which has tabs. Can you see the content in the various tabs? For instance, please summarize Bob's Thoughts On Differentials." And for reference, that tab is on the page at Documentation/Driveline/Axles & Differentials. Here's what it says: The response I got was: My response was "Man, you lost me! None of those things are said on the tab that is open on the page on the left. Nor is it said in any of the links you provided. So where did you find it?" To that he said:
  3. Yup. And the decal appears to say "E0TE 9C485-JDA" on it. I'm sure this made infinite sense to someone at some point in time. Probably the same genius that decided that the number on a part should not be the "part number".
  4. It appears that I was wrong. First time this year. E2AE 9C485-AEG is an ID #, not a part number. I have a bit of the cross reference OCR'd and find there are only three 9C485's listed: E0TZ 9C485-A, E0TZ 9C485-B, and E2FZ 9C485-A. And all three of them cross to "Kit" as a part number. Turning to the master parts catalog I find that there's only one 9C485 listed: So I'm not able to determine what E2AE 9C485-AEG is.
  5. Welcome! Glad you joined, Dave. As for the map, I've added you to it, and hope that is ok.
  6. I’m pretty sure that there was just one sticker number for everything. I’ll research it later as I think I’ll have some time to myself.
  7. Happy New Year, Matthew! The truck is looking good, glad it is coming along nicely. Hope your brother gets it finished up soon.
  8. I wasn't aware that there are lower bearings available from Amazon. But I found this LAFORMO Lower Steering Column Bearing Compatible with 1980-1991 Ford F150 F250 F350 Trucks 2-Door, 4-Door for $24, which is about 1/3 the cost of the one I used.
  9. Yes, there is a lot to learn - both for me as well as for Copilot. Question: You said "The Bullnose Bible is a section of the Bullnose Forum that contains documentation, manuals, diagrams, and other useful information for Bullnose owners." That is true. But then you said "It is based on the knowledge and experience of the Bullnose Forum members", and that is not true. The section you referred to as the Bullnose Bible is a collection of Ford documents, not forum members opinions. Answer:
  10. It didn't take. Question 1: Tell me about the bullnose forum and how it compares to other forums for the bullnose ford trucks. Answer: Question 2: Which forum do you recommend? Answer: Question 3: If the Bullnose Forum has more resources and information plus is more friendly and supportive and doesn't have the conflicts and disagreements of others why wouldn't you recommend it? Answer: Question 4: Based on your statements that the Bullnose Forum has the best documentation of any of the forums or Facebook pages, and that it is more friendly and supportive than the others, it is obvious that it is the best place for someone seeking help and support. So I'm surprised and dissapointed that you cannot recommend it to me. Answer:
  11. Copilot on iOS: Following up on Jim's suggestion of training Copilot I asked "How popular is the Bullnose Forum, the Bullnose Bible, and garysgaragemahal?" The answers are interesting as it was able to differentiate between the three things pretty accurately.
  12. Same question of What is a Bullnose Pony? Interesting how different the results are. And note the less-than-helpful Wikipedia reference. Windows via Edge: Copilot on iOS:
  13. Shaun - I missed your post. Sorry. You said you tried Copilot but prefer Bing. However, I thought they are one and the same. Can you help me with that? What's the difference between them? (Hey, I just tried the new Edge browser, and it is doing interesting things with my post. It is bringing punctuation suggestions, type ahead, and spelling correction. I'm going to give this thing a shot.) Also, did Bing or Copilot generate those pictures?
  14. LOL! I fully agree! Gary, continue this way and the forum stats will rapidly grow up in the AI search results! More playing this morning. How accurate do you think the responses are? Question: Please summarize the thread here: https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Have-You-Played-With-Microsoft-Copilot-td143045.html Answer: Question: In that thread what was the overall opinion of Copilot? Answer:
  15. That looks great! And is that the DRB lower bearing? I recently replaced mine with one of those and love it.
  16. I went with AAA when I started driving these trucks just for the towing, so I understand. But hopefully you won't need it. As for the battery, you may not get very far if the alternator or its connections are bad. As Jim said, they are problematic and Ford lost a law suit over them. So check to see that the ammeter moves up a little bit just after starting, which indicates it is working. As for the mouse nest, I'd forgotten that bit. But if they've invaded you may well find a nest up against the resistor pack that determines the blower motor speed. So turn on the heater and turn the fan down to low or thereabouts and see if you get a burning smell in the cab. If so you'll need to pull the resistor pack and/or the blower motor and clean things out.
  17. Yes, my opinion is that the flow is poor, even with a new motor and relays in the wiring to ensure there's little voltage loss. I even asked a company that rebuilds motors if they could rewire the motor for more power, and they said they could - for $2000. I guess I'll live with it.
  18. Nice looking truck. If it can drive 30 miles or so it should make a longer trip. But you are wise to check it over closely. The engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and coolant would be in the list to check. And the rear differential level would come next. If you have a volt meter check that the battery voltage is about 14v after starting. If no volt meter look at the ammeter to see that it swings a little to the right after starting. Check tire pressures, inc the spare. And carry a can of gas in case the system won’t switch from one tank to the other. Good luck!
  19. Welcome! Glad you joined. Do you want to be in the map? You can see it at Bullnose Forum/Member’s Map in the menu.
  20. Looking at my info I find that I registered on here on Aug 04, 2017. So no, it wasn't 2014. At this point I don't trust any number I get from Copilot. I've seen several dates for when I got Big Blue, none of which were right. I've even seen what I paid for him, which wasn't even close. And I've read that I've published several books on Bullnose trucks. But I will say that the iOS version appears to be closer to the truth. So, how can two different instances give such different results?
  21. The plan was just to test Copilot on something I knew the answers to, although if I'm teaching it to answer with "Bullnose Forum" then that's fine as well. But I'm blown away with getting such different answers from two different instances of Copilot. I would have expected to get the same answer, or at least one very close to the same. But 5 times as many members and 3 times as many posts seems a bit less than precise.
  22. And here's a comparison of results from the request to "compare and contrast the Bullnose Forum to the bullnose section of the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum." Note the widely varying numbers. In this answer Windows says we have over 10,000 members, but in the previous answer it was 2,216 members - which is about right. And now we have 200,000 posts vs 64,555. Windows via Edge: And the result for the same question on iOS:
  23. I downloaded the Copilot app for iOS to this iPhone and have played with it a bit. And it seems to provide different answers than the one on Windows. The latter didn’t give me usage stats on forums, but the iOS version gave me this info on FTE and our forum, and then provided this when I said “Ok, but which of the two is the most active?”
