  1. That's a BELLCRANK ASSY. (TRANSMISSION SHIFT CONTROL) for an 80 F100/350 - U150 with a C4 or C6 or 81/82 F100/350 with an AOD/AOT.
  2. Here’s what I see in landscape on my iPhone: But here’s what I see in portrait: Is this roughly what you are seeing?
  3. This will take some thinking about. The Garagemahal comes from the website provider, but the edit window comes from the forum provider. So I'll see what I can do, although it is going to take some research. However, I do see what you are saying. That looks painful! So lets see if we can't make it less bad.
  4. Is the issue on the edit window the "Gary's Garagemahal (the Bullnose bible) dropping down? Or what?
  5. It is easy to see why Vern wanted to get out from under Big Blue. And imagine what his wife was thinking! They'd sunk countless thousands of dollars into what appeared to be a bottomless pit. So when the engine, that took 4 years to have built and which leaked oil profusely when "done", hydro-locked that was the last straw. And what they probably didn't know is that the bypassed safety system on the fuel system, coupled with the bypassed resistor to the fuel pump, were a major problem. The oil leaks from the engine's main seals might have been caused by the gas in the oil, but the leak at the rear of the intake wasn't. The exhaust system was touching a tire occasionally and against a spring at all times, plus the welds are so porous that they leak exhaust from the front to the back. The headers are against the frame. The fuel system was dangerously close to the header. The crossmember, radiator support, and grille were all butchered. I think I'd have bailed long before they did. But underneath there are good bones. So with some work and more money I think BB will be one stout and capable truck that will ride decently and can go 'most anywhere.
  6. Might be a good buy if they are cheap enough. But, that part of the country uses salt on the frequent snow, so.....
  7. You can't zoom in on pics on an Android? I'm able to zoom in easily on my iPhone, so surely you can on an Android??? On the header, I'll do some research. But my first check with the host company, Weebly, turned up nothing. So I'll check further. That must be frustrating.
  8. Nice truck! Not sure it'll bring $17.5k, but you couldn't build it for that. However, the rusty diff cover bugs me. Why show a picture of it? Or why not at least paint it?
  9. I think Tim's oil filter adapter is a non-starter on Big Blue. I'm happy he has the oil/air cooler rather than the oil/water cooler like Huck's engine has, so will go back stock with it - including the stock hose routing to clear the radiator support. And, speaking of the radiator support, that reminds me. The radiator support Jonathan brought me almost two years ago has had its small cracks welded up and it has then been blasted and painted with an epoxy primer and then a chassis black top coat. It'll go back to replace the one that's on there now, which was butchered to allow routing the hoses in a bizarre way so they could get them to the cooler which was mounted in the wrong spot, which then caused them to butcher the back of the grille to get clearance. But that grille may go back on - after being painted black. I think I like the blacked-out look, and I might as well paint the hacked-up grille to find out for sure.
  10. Ok, we have several upgrades for the how-to: impact for the nut; including the part # for the spacer in the write-up instead of relying on seeing it in the pic; and maybe links to some of the videos. However, I think the videos help us understand which engines take which size alternator. But it irks me that the guy keeps calling a female terminal a "spade" terminal. He should try digging with a shovel shaped like that terminal.
  11. What would be the advantage of using Tim's adapter? Isn't it better because it takes the other filter? And it doesn't have internal threads like the one for the 460, so how would the 460 piece fit on? I think I've lost something here.
  12. Might as well, there's a chunk out of the back already.
  13. I agree with Steve - cleanliness is next to Godliness. But, in my case I had the frame media blasted before being primed with an epoxy primer and then coated with a chassis black paint. As for what to replace, you need to decide what you want the truck to look like and/or what you want to do with the truck when it is done. I'll suggest that there are roughly three categories of "restorations": Trailer Queen: This is a truck that is so extensively done that you really don't want to drive it for fear of getting it dirty. In my case everything is either powder coated or painted. Many parts are stainless, like brake lines and some fasteners. The truck will be better than new when done as everything is new and many parts are better than new. The body has been restored by a master and all trim is new. Well Done: This would be one that has been done really well, but not everything is painted or powder coated, and not all the parts are new. All bushings would probably be replaced, but the engine and transmission might not be rebuilt. The body will have been well done, but not all trim will be new. In any event, a truck in this category can be driven locally but not usually on long-distance trips. Daily Driver: This is one that can be driven daily. Basically it has been put back into shape and anything wrong fixed, but not everything is replaced.Bottom Line: Figure out what you want the truck to be and/or what you want to do with it before starting. And make every decision based on that goal.
  14. I'll check the '80 dealer facts book tomorrow, but I didn't think the Trailering Special package was available on an F100.
  15. Jim - The intent wasn't to use the R filter. Here's what Tim's page says: And the spec's on the 51268 are here. But, with Bill's pic of the male/female adapter then Tim's adapter isn't going to work.
  16. I forgot about the adapter! I think you are right. I have the adapter on Huck's block so could pull it and see how it comes apart.
  17. Yes, it IS! Even just a little bit of it feels so good. I called the shop doing the D60 work and they have the gears, bearings, and seals. But the OX locker was supposed to arrive today. So it'll be a while before it is ready. Which isn't a problem as I haven't started tearing the truck apart yet. But, I'm still looking for upgrades, and found one today on Tim Meyer's site - his Track Boss Oil Filter Adapter. And Tim hopes to deliver it in September.
  18. Time for an update. Been playing with the grandtwins so haven't gotten a lot done. But, some of the parts have been trickling in, including two of the caliper pistons, the brake pads, the hardware kit, the caliper seals, and the bleeder screws. And the rotors should be here in a day or two, with the last two pistons due next week. But, I had a bit of time today so decided to media-blast the hubs so they could be powder coated. I just couldn't bear the thought of those new Warn Premium lockouts going on those rusty hubs. First step was to press out the lugs so the rotors could be removed. Boy, there are a LOT of lugs on these as compared to an F150. Anyway, got those off easily with the press and put one hub in the blast cabinet. Here 'tis with its brother, with the one I blasted on the left: And now they are being phosphated. Might as well give them as much protection as I can.
  19. I'm in the middle of a major exam for school so I haven't had much opportunity to make progress on the truck, but I did have enough time between code runs to fiddle with the seat track latch. I bought a $2 spring from Ace hardware, robbed our holiday closet for a Christmas decoration stake, and voila: The track on the bottom is the factory-standard one, and the top one is the one I rigged. Sure, I could have spent $20 on eBay and waited a week for delivery for the correct spring, but what fun is that? This way whoever owns the truck after me will be able to gripe about the incompetent hack of a PO who came before him. Well done! And I doubt the next owner will be casting blame on the PO.
  20. If it is better then it looks like you have a winner.
  21. Ok, since I apparently cannot edit a poll we'll use "Whatever" as The FORD Lounge... Friendly Open Responsible Discussion So you can now go change your votes if you wish and we will understand that a vote for Whatever is a vote for FORD.
  22. I think I like the second one best. But, two questions. First, why the steering damper? The guys here tell me they aren't needed if your steering linkage is tight and if you aren't traversing obstacles 1/4 the size of your tires. Second, how does the angle change as you steer through the full range? Does that second bracket seem to be at the right spot?
  23. The one on my 4180C measures .248", as does the one on the 7200VV. So, I'd say they are 1/4".
  24. Very good points. I will try to incorporate those thoughts into the writeup, but watch me to make sure I do them justice.
  25. WOW! Just WOW! I think he's missing a zero at the end of the price. If that thing were within a few hours drive I'd be all over it - and then find that he misstated the price.
