  1. Those projects teach the kids a lot and are very helpful for the recipients. As for the lock, at one point I drilled the broken plastic that was supposed to come through the metal plate and install small sheet metal screws and washers. That worked for that lock, but I'm not sure it would for all of them. I've also used JB Weld to glue the plastic to the metal. Anyway, hope you get the seat soon. And that the new belt does the job.
  2. Ron - I got the message below asking about the speaker patch. David/1986F150Six sent you an email a few days ago where Matthew was asking about the price. My response to him just now was: Anyway, is there a better way for people to get in touch with you on this? Gary

    Maps

Here's a Google map to the Skiatook Church of Christ, which is where the show will be. Just use the Directions button to figure out how far it is from your location and how to get there.
  4. Gary, as a general rule of thumb, most if not all of the SBF shorty headers available for these trucks are supposed to be able to bolt up to the stock Y-Pipes. Now...when I say available for these trucks, you will notice that most of them...if not all of them, are listed as only fitting 1986-1996, or 1987-1996. Not that the heads are different...but the manifolds and downpipes are. So...they will all fit a Bullnose just fine, but they may not fit the stock Y-Pipe. There are tons of other SBF shorty headers available...but the angles they run don't work well with the trucks. The Foxbody Mustang ones for example point almost directly at the cab...but some people do make 'em work. Cory - Thanks. I've thought about shorties for Big Blue, but finding them for an EFI'd 460 is proving difficult. Brandon - Thanks. Makes factory manifolds look inviting.
  5. Congrat's!!!! That is such a good feeling! But, watch out for Frau Blücher. Tie down all those horses or they'll run away.
  6. He and I've been texting this morn, while it rains cats and dogs, so I texted him a link.
  7. Sorry I missed this yesterday. Anyway, that mud dobber's nest may be a holdover from the truck's time here in Okiehoma. They sure like to make nests down here. As for the project, that sounds like a cool thing to support.
  8. Thank again Jim, This is exactly my concern of fitment, I had to go 3 different sets on my '78 before I got a set that would fit decently I'm not sure of my transfer case but I know the Dana 44 Front and the T18 Trans. Good thinking on the Plastic Line, has anyone had this problem? Is it easy enough to make it up with a steel line? I thought most shorty headers were designed to replace stock manifolds, meaning stock exhaust systems will bolt up to them. Is that not the case?
  9. Yes, there may be a Bullnose fan there somewhere.

    Attendees

In an effort to have some idea of how big this year's show will be I'm creating the following list of those who are hoping to come. But if you've told me and I've missed you on this list, PLEASE forgive me. And, tell me again. If no site is mentioned they are from this forum: David/1986F150Six and friendMatthew/DorsaiBigBlue 94 from FSBbroncosarge77 from FSBMark/Dyn BlinEli/SmokenchokenBrandon/Bruno2Michael Lunsford from FORDification's FB pageChris/ctubutisPaul/Rogue_Wulff
  11. Matthew - That is strange. What ad blocker are you running? Shaun - It would be wonderful to finally meet you. And, as we are roughly in the middle of the continental US, this is a good meeting place for people.
  12. I see it! Looks like you certainly have started. Have a completion date in mind?
  13. OK, this is weird - I can see the post with the MS Edge browser, but I (still) can't using Firefox Quantum 67.0.4. Mind you, every other page on your site, without exception, works fine with Firefox. Until just now it's the only browser I've ever used on your site. Very, very strange. EDIT: I just figured it out - it was my adblocker killing the page. Maybe it considers the links you embedded as ads? Anyway, I whitelisted your entire site, I'm good to go now. Sorry about the false alarm. You were probably also missing the signatures? Lots of ad blockers take them out. Anyway, glad you figured it out.
  14. Yippee!!!!! Congratulations!!! I gather the work has started, although the pic of tearing off the old lean-to is a bit over-exposed, so I'll have to take your word for it. And, you appear to have a very good set of tools/equipment to move into it. By the way, David/1986F150Six asked me the other day what you are asking for the speaker patch. I don't know, so care to share? And, are you making them or is Shapeways?
  15. Excellent! Now, if you have other places to post it please do. Or places for me to post it.
  16. Thanks, Shaun. Matthew - How 'bout trying it again? Perhaps the edit fixed it?
  17. Having the air bag completely unrestrained under high pressure was one concern I thought of. You could make sure you never have them at high pressure when you are going somewhere you might flex Big Blue out. That may or may not be too limiting for your use. (My thought is the HEAVY loads will be on-road and even overlanding with a bunch of gear wouldn't require much pressure in the bags. But how you end up using it will be up to you.) Missing the cradle obviously would be bad. But as you note, a lot of satisfied customers show that doesn't need to be an issue. Another thought I had was about wear on the bags as they slide in and out of the cradles, especially if any sand or gravel gets in there. I think if I had that setup I'd want to lift the truck and let the axle droop out to inspect the bags every so often, especially after a 'wheeling trip. Those are the thoughts I had after thinking about it a little more. I can't imagine needing high pressure in the air bags when overlanding. My plan/hope is to set the springs up so that they take the load with very little pressure in the bags for those trips. But when towing my car-hauler trailer with a heavy vehicle on it I think higher pressures will be needed. Cleaning the cradles of dirt, etc after 'wheeling is a good idea. They are sorta open on the bottom with a kind of grid, but I could see rocks getting in there that might not pass through. If I remember correctly, the Firestone bags have a metal top and bottom plate, but the Air Lift bags don't. That might be a consideration as the metal bottom would might take the rocks better. When I searched for info on the cradles I found that 4 Wheel Parts carries them. And, they carry both Firestone and Air Lift bags. I was in the Tulsa store a couple of days ago and talked with Cory Marshall, the manager, about freebies for the show. He said to call him back next week about them as he has something going on that might be a good fit. When I do I think I'll ask him what his opinion is of the cradles and which bag to go with. He'll tell me straight, and I'll bet he'll back me up if I buy from him and have a problem.
  18. That's strange! I've just edited the post to see if that will make a change. Otherwise I could delete the post and create a new one. Maybe someone else can give it a try? Please?
  19. All good points, Jonathan. I've never rebuilt an inline engine, so will take your word for the even wear - or even that lack of wear. A V-ed engine does wear both the cylinders and crank journals out of round, perhaps because of the V. So I bow to your experience. As for Jasper, that's disappointing to see. I've never bought one, but just assumed from the advertising that they are good. My bad.
  20. Congrat's!!!!! That's such a GOOD feeling when you get it on the road, even if there are more problems needing to be fixed. On the exhaust, my experience with headers is not good. I have L&L's, which are probably the most expensive ones you can buy, on Big Blue - and they do NOT fit. I'm not planning to run them on Big Blue nor Dad's truck. Plus, I don't like the glass packs that are on Big Blue. The sound is not pleasant, especially when towing. So I'm going back with Magnaflows.
  21. Glad you can access the flyer, but don't understand about the Advertising thread. Here's the permalink to it: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Advertising-tp30120.html. Does that help?
  22. On Thursday I posted a flyer in 4 Wheel Parts in Tulsa. Today I posted the flyer on: Garagemahal FB page Bullnose Forum FB page Skiatook Grapevine FB page Bullnose Fords 80-86 FB page FORDification FB page Old FORD Trucks FB page Bulls & Bricks 80-91 FB page Bullnose Ford Truck Group 80-86 FB page Ford Truck 1973-1979 FB page Bullnose Obsession FB page Full Size Bronco forum FORDification forum I plan to bump these on a monthly basis, and then in the last month get flyers posted all over Skiatook and neighboring towns. Any suggestions of where else to post?
  23. Some of y'all may have gotten notifications of your posts having been deleted. Not to fear, nothing has been deleted. Instead, they've gotten moved. For the last year plus we've had a pinned folder for the 2018 Ford Truck Show, and it had within it several threads about things like camping, room availability, etc. But 2018 is in the rear view mirror, so I created a new folder for Garagemahal Ford Truck Shows, and within that there will be folders for each of the years. And within the one for 2018 I moved all of the threads from the old 2018 folder and then deleted that folder. In addition I created a folder for the 2019 show and added a thread within it for the flyer. Please take a minute to go click on the link in that thread and tell me if that gets you access as well as the ability to download that flyer as I'd like for y'all to print and distribute some of them in your area if you think people might come. Last, I'll be adding more show-related threads as we go along. It is now just less than 1/4 year away, so I'd better get started!

    The Flyer

The 2019 flyer is below, but you can download one here, I think: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Au8XU1NWYnOAgd5IaRDBS92sS-2T3g
  25. But, in all of my reading on the internet I've only found one person who had trouble after installing the Daystar cradles. In his case the air bag missed the cradle and hit the tire, cutting a groove in the sidewall. But I'm guessing that he didn't get the cradle properly centered under the bags, which caused the problem. In fact, some of the people reported having to offset the cradle on the bracket to get it centered, and I'd bet he didn't. All of the MANY others reported good success with the cradles. Articulation was back to what it was supposed to be and there were no problems of the bags not going back into the cradles. So I think this is the way I'll go, assuming that I do take leaves out of the springs and then need more load-carrying capability. Ok, with the calipers properly phosphated and powder coated it was time to pull the trigger on ordering the rest of the brake parts. So I just ordered these from Amazon: Raybestos WK2885 Professional Grade Disc Brake Caliper Boot and Seal Kit: Two of these for $9.48/ea as one set does one caliper. Raybestos S6858 Kits: These are the bleeder screws, and a set is supposedly $12.95. But the only review says it isn't a set but is only one bleeder screw! However, if you look elsewhere from Amazon that part number says it is a set of 10. Who needs 10? We shall see. Centric 145.56003 Front Brake Caliper Piston: These phenolic pistons go for $5.31/ea and I ordered four. Motorcraft BRPK5621A Front Disc Hardware Kit for $8.23, with one kit supposedly doing two calipers. Motorcraft BRSD655 Front Severe Duty Pads for $37.79 Unfortunately Amazon only has one of the brake rotors in stock, and while it kept saying "More coming" it refused to let me order two of them. One or none. So I chose none and ordered two RAYBESTOS 66476 rotors from Rock Auto for a total of $146.97, including $28.98 in shipping. The Rock Auto price for each rotor was ~$10 less than Amazon's, but they wanted ~$15 for shipping. So each rotor costs ~$5 more delivered than from Amazon, but I wanted to keep them together so ordered both from one place. So, for $104.89 + $146.97 = $251.86 I'll have all new brakes on the new front axle.
