  1. That's wired weird. Seriously though, that is strange. Oh well, you have a plan.
  2. The 1980 - 84 trucks should have a ground from the light down to the frame. The 1985 & 6 trucks should have a ground wire running from the back all the way to the firewall ground in the cab and just in front of the radio. And spliced into that ground wire will be all of the things along the way, including tail lights/stop lights/turn signals/backup lights, trailer lights, and the tank senders/pumps and the switching valve.
  3. We took the pirate smiley away! And it would have been perfect for this.
  4. Ok, then you shall be an Admin. It carries with it the ability to edit thing via the link at the bottom of the page, so please don't do that. And, you can create folders and sub-folders, but please don't do that either until we talk about it. The issue there is that what we have isn't quite logical to a newbie and we need to sort that before creating more.
  5. Jim - I just made you an Admin. Lets see if that shows up. We've not used the Assistant Admin function, so maybe it is not working? Yup, you show as Administrator.
  6. When you click my name, or any name, you don't see the option to Add/Remove Groups? If not lets give it over night and see what happens.
  7. Go through the steps in the email and see if you can at least see someone's "groups". I wouldn't suggest taking membership away, but you should be able to at least see the membership. And, see if you can peer into the Quarantined Posts & Threads folder to see what's in there.
  8. Jim - I have complete faith in you. But what I am wondering about is me. Why don't you show as Assistant Admin? I show as Admin.
  9. Gary, It has been going OK so far. When they get to the cab I imagine I'll be getting a rude awakening...lol. It needs both front fenders, at least one door, and definitely both cab corners. Do you have any experience in removing the windshield trim? The body shop told me to get a glass shop to do it. The glass shop told me not to touch it...lol. This was supposed to be a budget build... The truck was painted around the windshield trim before...I guess it could be again;)> Are all the people in the body shop under 30 years old? Same for the glass shop, I cant believe no one knows how to remove the trim I am going to show my age here LOL There is a tool made just for this https://www.eastwood.com/trim-removal-set-all-three-tools.html The tool at thebottom with the arrow is the glass trim removal tool. You slidthe arrow between the glass & trim and hook the trim clips by pulling them away from the trim and the trim should then pull away. The tool in the center is for removing the clips on inside door & window handles, think mostly GM cars IIRC. The top one is used to pop the door panels off the door frames. you feel for the clips and put the fork on either side of the clip and pry. If you don't use it you can rip the panel board and the clips then fall out and the panel flops around. Dave ---- I've not had any problems removing the trim with a similar tool. I don't know why they don't want to touch it.
  10. Cool! Well done! When will the painting be done?
  11. Many thanks to Jim/ArdWrknTrk for agreeing to be an assistant admin. (Basically he can do about anything an admin can do but edit the code that generates these pages.) THANK YOU, JIM!
  12. Good find! Thanks for sharing that info.
  13. Welcome. Hope it helps. But I know there's more tweaking that needs to be done, and depending on what others say maybe lots more.
  14. Ok, I guess I'll run a wire....well, I guess I'll run two ground wires, one for each side. Since I had every single piece completely painted before assembly, if I ground the left bed side, there will be 4 layers of paint to get through to ground the other side panel. Anyway...no big deal. I'm good...just wanted to check. I did look in the 1984 EVTM, and it showed a ground wire...even if it's only a short wire, for the styleside bed tail lights. The C/C trucks and Flareside showed the lights being grounded directly to the bed via the brackets. Thanks for the reply Gary. Ok, so '84 used the frame and the change was for '85. I say that because they were wired this way in '81: And this way in '85:
  15. In the early part of the Bullnose era there was no ground wire. But by '85 there was a ground wire. So I don't know if the '84 had one - although I can check the EVTM. So I'd run a ground wire.
  16. Jim - Well said! This certainly is OUR forum, and we want it to feel like home to each of us. So we need to know what the issues are for others. Thanks for doing this!
