  1. What’s wrong with them? I like the ones in my Bronco! I don’t know why, but I know many people replaced the automatic ones with manual hubs. And it was t for convenience. The ‘95 I bought had a partial swap done on it. And Blue’s auto hubs (integrated wheel ends in Fordspeak) failed right out of the box and were replaced.
  2. That's a good one, David. Let's put it here:
  3. That was a great song for our pleasure, but how 'bout some car music to listen to in this lounge? This if from Hal Blaine and Young Cougars - Deuces, "T's", Roadsters & Drums. And here are the tracks. (I'm at my son's house and he has my copy of his LP and I'll see if I can find it as I know there is more info on it than I'm finding online.) A1 Challenger II A2 Green Monster A3 Nashville Coupe A4 Mr. Eliminator A5 Pop The Chute A6 Deuces, "T's", Roadsters & Drums B1 Gear Change B2 The Phantom Driver B3 Gear Stripper B4 Big "T" B5 The Traps B6 Drum Brakes
  4. I know exactly the size as I have a depleted helium cylinder in the garage awaiting transfer to the shop. (Can't bear to throw it away.) But that is a lot of R12. Dad used to buy it that way back in the day as he charged A/C units for all his friends. However, the valves leak so the Freon didn't stay in them very well.
  5. Yes, that was going to be my suggestion as well. And I think you can easily do it yourself by: Loosening all the nuts on the side that needs to be shimmed, but not on the other side as that may cause your bumper to tilt. Removing one nut & bolt entirely Pulling the bumper forward enough to slip one or more washers between it and the frame. I think I'd do the bolt that is horizontal first as the amount of washers needed will be more obvious with it. Put that bolt through and put the nut on Repeat for the other bolt(s)
  6. Well done! Both the R&R of the starter as well the formatting of the post. I'm really glad to see someone else use the formatting. However, I think there's an easier way to do what you did. You can click the Formatting button and then the Bullet button. That puts code in that doesn't require going into HTML mode. And, you can then add line feeds between the bullets by hitting Enter whereas you need to use the "Line Feed" button in Formatting if you are in HTML mode.
  7. My catalog stops at '89 so I can't tell past that. But the part number changed before the end of the catalog and, from what I can tell they won't interchange. So it is good to know they will.
  8. Good to know, Steve. Do you happen to have pics of the early and late latches? When I pull Big Blue down I can compare his to Dad's and see the difference.
  9. Jim - Ok, these posts have been moved and I'll delete the other thread, ASAP.And I'll do the pickup truck, and others, when I get home. This computer doesn't have the necessary picture editing software on it, and it is tedious and since I'm "with family" it'll have to wait. But I needed to see the smiley itself since I'm going to be looking for a gif, png, or maybe jpg of the same thing and use that.As for me typing them out, I didn't in every case. I put the ahead of what you had initially and it worked, but then you had the quotes and I realized I'd have to type those characters out so why not do all of them. (And the ones in bold were wrong. ) But at least we know that we are talking apples/apples.Now for how things are generated. I'll confess that I don't fully understand how it is done. But, it appears to me to be this way:Forum Smiley: When you click the smiley button above and then select a smiley it pastes a picture into your post. And, that picture appears to work both here in the forum as well as in the emails we get. Device Emoticon: I don't know what is actually created when you pick an emoticon from your device. But I just picked Pinocchio from my iPhone on another thread and it sure didn't come across on this forum nor on the email I got when viewed on a Windows device. But it does both on my iPhone. And when I edit a post that was created on my iPhone by using a Windows device all I see for the smiley is a little picture, albeit the wrong one in some cases, and not unicode. Unicode: You can type it into your post, like 💥, and it seems to work in this forum and in the emails. Does this fit with your understanding?
  10. That I told a lie. You aren’t going to find R12, as you know, at least not at a price anyone is willing to pay.
  11. 🤥 Edit: That is supposed to be Pinocchio with a long nose. I posted it from my iPhone which has that emoticon. But, it doesn't translate to this forum.
  12. https://www.canstockphoto.com/violence-at-office-5830229.html David - That's about what I expect. Matthew - You've just proven Jim wrong. It is entirely possible for two belts on the same pulleys to have different rotational speeds. One of them just has to break.
  13. Your refrigeration friends can probably look at the fittings and determine if the system has been changed from R12. Maybe just adding a can will close the switch?
  14. That's good to know...but if I need to have the truck pulled that far, I'll just call my brother - he's volunteered to come get me if needed. Of course, I'm sure much of the reason he'd do it is so he could tell all his Chevy buddies that he dragged a Ford home... Yes, they are out there lurking, just waiting for that to happen. Instead, my experience is the other way 'round. So wouldn't you be waiting, just like them?
  15. I don't know what that fits as E0TZ 16700-B is apparently the ID/Engineering # and not the part number. I say that because that # doesn't appear in the catalog. Instead, here's what the catalog shows: 80/81 F100/350.U150 E1TZ 16700-A 82/86 F 150/350.U150 E6TZ 16700-A Yes, it shows that the 1980/81 latch is different than the 82/86 latch.
  16. what the Heck is that, Gary? A piniata? Jim - I do NOT know. Nor do it know from whence it came. Matthew - The AAA membership is a good addition when driving older vehicles. And, by the way, you can have a vehicle towed 100 miles at a time. So you can call them back for another tow. It's been done.
  17. Agreed. I'm going to take a close look at the belts after a bit when I change out the starter. But I'll admit, I'm not sold on the notion that lack of matching has anything to do with this. Maybe if they were new belts, sure. But seven years on? I bet they're identical now to the millimeter. When I go back to NAPA to return my starter core, I'll ask that nice counter girl if she's got a matched pair. What's the worst that can happen? Please video that. I gotta see it.
  18. I don't really think there is much you can do other than powering it up to see what happens. But if the pressure switch is closed then I'd go for it. Put a belt on and see what happens. You already know the compressor isn't frozen up, so it should work.
  19. Maybe? Although by this point (~7 years on) surely the shorter of the two would have stretched to the length of the longer, and they'd be the same length by this point. Matched pairs are important for applications like this. I'd swap belts long before I tear into a clutch or compressor.
  20. Jim - There are two threads with very similar titles: More Emoticons? Less Emoticons? Which Ones? This is the original thread. Re: More Emoticons? Less Emoticons? Which Ones? This is the thread that was created when I replied via email to Matthew's post. I don't know why I couldn't respond to Matthew's post in the first thread, nor why when I did respond via email another thread was created. But it is confusing and I'd prefer to move the salient bits to the first thread and kill this one. However, you shared a lot of unicode smileys that may be very useful - but would be more useful if we could actually see them in this post. So, I'll attempt to do so. But, you say they are universal. But since this forum (Nabble) doesn't use unicode and generates pictures, don't the smileys show the same on all devices? Explosion U+1F 4A5 128165 💥 Fire " 525 128293 🔥 Zany.
