  1. Shaun - The latest is that it is going ashore 2 miles north of our kids in Palm Beach Garden. But, it looks like you'll still get a lot of rain and wind. Are you ready?
  2. Thanks for the idea, Steve. I've now added a download link in the first post. But, I'd still like to figure out and fix whatever is causing the problem. In fact, I'd like to know what problem others are seeing.
  3. No, and hopefully I'm "restoring" him to his original state, in all the necessary areas. But improving him to better than his original state in some areas - like front driveline, front suspension, engine, fuel system, electrical system, ..... He's gonna need to meet Darth some day. They will have a lot in common.
  4. You didn't see my post? Yes, that part is "remote" from the lock - it sits at the base of the inside door handle. And it allows you to remotely control the door latch - from the inside door handle.
  5. Let's hope he quits throwing up road blocks at every turn: hacked radiator support; hacked crossmember; bent frame; twisted frame horns; worn engine.....
  6. Cool! Be careful getting the mirrors off. Don't spin those nuts on the inside of the doors.
  7. Yes! I have the EVTM's from 1980 - '87, and then again '96 lined up in the bookshelf above the computer in the shop. It is lots faster to pull one out and look at a page than to go to where I know it is on the site.
  8. Ok, I see what you are saying. Big Blue's Tu-Tone matte blue, but I still love him. (Most of the time. Usually. Hopefully more often in the future.)
  9. Cool! I mean WARM! You may need that in a few months.
  10. Ok, one more test. For this one I removed the pages that had the magazine covers. There were 4 of them in the 23 pages, so that now makes it 19 pages and 5.07 Mb instead of the 5.95 Mb in the edited 1st post. (The original file size was 11.8 Mb.) Does this work on the iOS devices? No, that didn't work. Apparently by having both the reduced file in the first post and an even smaller file, albeit still 5.07 Mb, in this post it killed it for Janey's iPad. So, I took it out of this post and put the smallest file in the first post.Let's see if that works....EDIT: Yes, sorta. Haven't gotten to test the iPad as it is in use, but the iPhone X now works in landscape if you tap the screen several times where the article is supposed to be. :nabble_anim_confused:Dane?
  11. Ford calls that a CONTROL and LINK ASSY. (DOOR LATCH CONTROL). That part fits right hand front doors on all F & U series trucks from 1980 through at least '89. You can see it in the illustration below as part 21818 at the bottom left. (Don't ask why the base part number is 1021818 and the # in the illustration is 21818. I don't know, but it happens a lot in the MPC.)
  12. Ok, lets see if this works. I OCR'd the file and then optimized it. That reduced the size from 12Mb to less than 6Mb. And, now it appears to work on Janey's iPad. But, it doesn't work on my iPhone X. So maybe it is too big to work on an iPhone but small enough for an iPad???? Dane - does it work for you?
  13. Thanks, Jim. The last page of this thread has been slightly off topic. So let me get it back on track with some plans, and then I'll come back and tell y'all what I've done in a few days - when I get to do it. I've already used the wire wheel to take the edges off off the Sky brackets and shackles, so when I get the shop clean and organized again I'm going to blast and powder coat those parts black. (Plus, while I'm doing that I'll also blast the hideous red off of the perches and engine mount plates and then PC them black as well.) And I'll also press the bushings into the shackles. Then I'll mount the brackets and shackles, and be ready when the new front bracket comes in.
  14. I did a quick Google search, and it looks like that Gear Vendors OD is worth half as much as the asking price of the truck. Nice truck. And, for the price.... But, there are some things I'm not high on. It still has the TTB's. If I were to do it again I'd get an F350 w/a straight axle. And there's no way to tell from here how he put the bucket seats in. Did he do it correctly by getting the seat base, or the red neck way of drilling holes into un-reinforced areas of the floor that will probably break out later. Plus, I sure don't like the step hanging out in the breeze. First time off road and it'd be gone. And, he has 4 wheel discs that "break". I sure wouldn't want discs that break. But, all in all, you sure couldn't build it for that, if "that" is what you want.
  15. That would explain it. Well done! If by "fuse box template" you mean what fuse goes where, we have that in the documentation: Electrical/EVTM's/1981 EVTM/Fuse Block & Circuit Protection.
  16. Doesn't look very faded to me. Looks clean.
  17. LOL! I had to look that one up! I didn't mean to come across so ....... adamant. But, unless there are lots of people going to garysgaragemahal.com then a home page won't help us much. However, I have found a way to create a pop up for the first visit to the site. It isn't cheap but at least I know it can be done. So, if we decide that a pop up to explain what we are about and how to use the site is needed then that is a possibility.
  18. Yeah, that's the name of the place. But I've been thinking about changing that. Seems ostentatious. Not my style. I like the Bullnose Bible better. But the URL I've got reserved is Gary's Garagemahal. Maybe we should change the name?
  19. Jein. 460/7.5L should not be used in the same sentence as "economy". But, I'm trying to improve things somewhat. If I can get it to 14 MPG at 65 MPH running light I'll be happy.
  20. One correction, Jim: We've created. Wasn't me. An island in the storm. A safe haven.
  21. Dave - Sorry! I know that feeling, and it is BAD! But, I find that after a day or so of walking away and getting back to it I find it isn't as bad as I thought. Bad yes, but not THAT bad. And, usually I find a way around it by walking away for a bit. Hope tomorrow is a better day.
  22. That's me - CONFUSED! And CONCERNED! I'm now wondering how many of my embedded documents are not usable by iOS users. Have you had similar problems on other posts? What about pages on the documentation part of the website, like the Driveline/Axles page, which has embedded docs on the Instructions tab?
  23. Jonathan - You aren't alone as Steve/FoxFord33 suggested something that's similar to your suggestion. I, too, think the "documentation" (let's call the pieces "forum" and "documentation") gets short shrift. And I'd love to make it more obvious to the casual observer. So, we need to think about how to do that. But, I'm not sure a new homepage does that. I say that because I'm not sure how many people would come in that way. However, let's kick that around a bit. As I see it there are these ways of coming to the website: Searches: We get traffic due to searches for a specific term. As of right now we are getting about 200 - 250 clicks from Google searches to the documentation and 25 - 30 clicks to the forum per day. But those go directly to the specific page on which the search topic resides. (And, by the way, the # of clicks/day is increasing nicely.) So they'd never go to the home page. Shared Links: I frequently provide links directly to a specific post or page of documentation to people on Facebook. And I know that others do as well - in fact I've had nice surprises lately when I thought "Oh, I have that info" and see that someone else has already provided the link. But, again, those go directly to the page or post and would't go to the home page. Emailed Links: I don't know 'bout y'all, but I'm subscribed at the top level of the forum and get an email for each and every post. (The forum is odd compared to others and you have to overtly subscribe to get an email for posts.) And the way I come to the forum 99.999999% of the time is via one of those links. But if we had a home page the links would still take me directly to the post, not the home page. Saved Links: Some of you have saved links directly to the forum, and even if we had a home page there'd still be the ability to save a link to the forum, thereby bypassing the home page. So the only people that would ever see the home page would be few and far between that Googled something that was on the home page. But we are saying there should be very little on the home page, so there'd be nothing to find. Don't know 'bout you, but I've just myself out of wanting a home page. But, that does not mean we shouldn't have a way to tell people about the documentation if they find the forum, or vice versa. Toward that end I've had some thoughts, but want yours as well. One of mine is a popup for first time visitors. (I don't know if that's possible, but humor me.) If the visit is to the forum it could tell them how to register. And/or it could tell them about the documentation. If to the documentation it could tell them about the forum and the menu to other documentation. Thoughts? HELP! I'm going crazy thinking about this!
  24. Clearly there's a problem, Houston.
