  1. Gary, On here, my stuff is your stuff;) Jonathan - I would like to incorporate Dave's approach, so have created a Metal Floor tab and added a few words about Dave's work as well as a link to his thread. But it is going to take some time finding all the bits and pieces that are woven through that thread and create the verbiage to go with the pictures. Dave - If you had the time to point me to the appropriate posts that would help. Cory - Thanks.

Welcome Back, Kotter! Yes, I understand about the smell of Chassis Saver. I had a stall in the garage at another house and that smell caused problems. Now I have my own shop building and I paint one day and enjoy the smell the next day. Anyway, it is looking good! I certainly understand "a million pieces". That's what it seems both my trucks are in. But, in the end it'll all be worth it. Keep on truckin'!
  3. Ain't that the truth! All - We have a new tab on the Documentation/Exterior/Beds, Tailgates, & Components page. Go to the Beds tab and then the Flareside Bed Floors tab. But PLEASE give me suggestions on this!!!! And, tell me about other threads that might have information that we should link to. The Pre 7/82 tab has nothing, but I've borrowed many of Cory's words and pics for the After 7/82 tab. Cory - That would be Zach that redid the pre-7/82 bed. I sent him an email asking for dimensions and approval to use his pics. And, I hope it was ok to use your words and pics to at least get things started. I think your measurements will be a big help when you are able to do them. Dave - Do you want your steel floor approach included on its own tab? Jonathan - Is this a reasonable start? Do we still need something in Resources?
  4. How about 8.4 to 1? And, no knock sensor? High octane fuel would be a waste at 8.4:1. But I doubt it would hurt the MPG.
  5. Supposedly the tailgate down idea was debunked by Myth Busters. As for the octane, some say higher octane than needed can actually hurt MPG. Their thinking is that fuel with a higher octane rating burns slower, but I don't think that is correct. The octane rating really determines how volatile a fuel is, meaning how prone it is to an explosion rather than a controlled burn. On the other hand, it is possible to use fuel of such a high octane rating that it is hard to light off in a low-compression engine, and that would cause poor fuel economy. In fact, Blue gets better MPG with higher octane fuel. That's because it has a knock sensor and the computer can advance the timing more w/o knocking with the higher-octane fuel.
  6. We discussed that recently on WHYDTYTT. Start here.
  7. First, I do want this kind of feedback. EDIT: One of the nice things about this site and forum is that we have the ability to tailor it to work and look the way we want it to. But, I need to know what "we" think. And, there is lots of cleanup that needs to be done on the menu. I could move Metrics to there, and while I'm not necessarily enamored with publicizing the metrics, it is something I watch on a daily basis and having them on a page is very helpful to me. So, is it a problem? On the About Me/Contact Me, only a small part of that probably ought to stay on that page or under that heading. The church stuff doesn't really belong, so now I need to figure out what to do with it. That's a good suggestion on TSB's. Not sure when I'll get the whole menu thing sorted/worked. Lots going on right now, including trying to sort out the search function(s), and making slow progress there. But thanks for the input, I'll work the suggestions as I can.
  8. Absolutely! Even true in trucks. As I've said many times, I'd much rather tow with Blue than Big Blue. Perhaps that will change a bit with the new 460 and the ZF, but the old engine gave 11 - 12 MPG light while Blue gives 18 - 19 light. And towing - Blue gets 11 towing our 25' Sea Ray, and does so with ease while providing comfort to the passengers.
  9. Vic - No prob. Boy, your phone doesn’t show much. Here’s the views I get in portrait on my iPhone X using Safari: And here’s landscape:
  10. Well spotted on the URL, Scott! That thing's a beast!
  11. Its fine. We pulled it up on the rollback. AAA is awesome. Well worth the annual fee. Got it home, pulled the driveshaft out, threw it in 4x4, locked the hubs and drove it onto the lift. Grabbed a beer and went straight to the lazy boy. Holly and the kids werent home, so I needed to take advantage of the quiet house. I like having AAA as I've been stranded a few times - usually due to self-induced problems.
  12. LOL! That's how I found what the generic part number on running boards is - the 1981 Accessories Catalog.
  13. I initially thought I grenaded the new clutch somehow. I fully expected to see half the bell housing missing. Then my second thought was I grenaded the tcase somehow. I was relieved when the only carnage was the driveshaft. Bummer! So it drove up on the roll-back just fine?
  14. I suppose you need something over which to put your Coverlay dash cover. But, $75?
  15. Thanks, Jonathan. And since your iPhone is running an older OS, that's different than my response.
  16. $300 is still too expensive for a used dash pad.
  17. Jonathan - No, the dimensions aren't captured elsewhere. But someone just said the Resources folder isn't being used. So I was wondering about placing the info in a new tab called Flareside Bed Dimensions on the Documentation/Exterior/Bed, Tailgates, & Components page. We could put the info and pics Cory provided on there, although I think it would be nice to know the dimensions of each of those pieces as well as the overall dimensions he provided. And, if we could get someone to measure the pre 7/82 boards we could include that as well. Thoughts?
  18. Copied from the catalog with the emphasis mine: 83/88 R (Regular Cab) E6TZ 16450-C Kit-bright-includes instruction sheet In other words, it fits your little Ranger.
  19. That may be true, but how many people are actually aware of that fact? That's what these people are banking on. The sellers probably have no idea, and neither do some of the buyers. I remember someone buying a nice used one and blocking it up level - and it cracked. Hey, wasn't that you?
