Differences in trip odometers
BigBrother-84 replied to Tarheel Blue's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Sorry to be late guys. These new lens DO NOT come with the button. You have to swap your button from your old lens. If you have some... Kurt, I bought one from JBG, when it arrived it had a light scratch on it... I informed JBG and they sent me a replacement one. I also think I still have another old lens that might still have the button/spring on it. I don't know where you are located, but I could send you the new "slightly scratched" lens plus the old button/spring (I have to first verify I still have it). For the price of the shipping. -

WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?
BigBrother-84 replied to Gary Lewis's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Were we lucky? We did the entire Big Brother's Big Tour without A/C and never suffered (well not entirely true, a short stop at Salt Lake City to buy a fuel pump was kind of inferno, but hopefully short). These little triangular windows are just genius! -
When I was kid I had a GI Joe jeep with this kind of "camping" equipment plastic moulded on the vehicle. Nice appearance but completely useless.

1980 Bronco in TX (Mexican 3 door!)

Interesting! First I thought «this is the ancestor of the Centurion Classic», which is built from a Crew Cab. Then I realized that the cab part is really different. I am wondering, what's that truck, a customized ambulance? -

Man, I didn't realize its size. Here (just North of Montreal), not windy but rain, rain, rain. Can't imagine how much water is up in the atmosphere and is falling down on East Coast right now! -

I don't know where this storm is pumping its water, normally they calm down when touching ground. But they just doubled the forecast here, North region of Montreal we went from 4" to 8". -
«Touché» means "right in the bullseye Man", so yep "hell yeah" does the job for sure! You hit the nail on the head Vivek, Hell Yeah! Yee-Haw!

In French we have this saying, "Quand on se regarde on se désole, quand on se compare on se console". Which I could approximately translate as "Focusing on our own troubles upsets but comparing with someone else's problems comforts". -
Touché. How do you call this in English, a "truism"? It's the sole and only thing that motivates their jobs. Sale new vehicles.

This Debby storm refuses to die and is heading North. Will hit us tomorrow (Friday raining all day). Normally, we call it a huge rain storm here. But compared to what you had, we’ll take this 4" of water philosophically. -

Can you post a screenshot so I could see how it looks, and maybe find it in my 1984 edition? -
Big Brother is going 3G
BigBrother-84 replied to BigBrother-84's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Gentlemen, following this discussion with great interest. Although I still have an interrogation, about the "with or without relay" question: Why the 1984 EVTM has no mention about such relay, for gasoline with idiot light or ammeter. It doesn't specify any difference between different engines (460, 351 HO, ...). You have opinion about that, are other EVTM editions different? If I wasn't on this (wonderful!) forum and just had the 1984 EVTM on hands, I would be sure that Big Bro's choke heater (7V) is perfectly wired, and I would have no idea about any 351 HO choke relay existence. Or maybe somewhere else in EVTM and I just don't find it? -

I don't know Jim. I would answer "why not?" I don't know if there are significant differences between 1G and 3G other than their performance to produce the same 14V with different amperage. You can tell me the stator of a 3G is half or twice the alternator voltage, because of some internal construction or electronic gizmos, and I'll believe you. These things so evident for you aren't for me. That's why I (and couple of members too, I imagine) need you! -
Big Brother is going 3G

Right, I'll take off the air filter cover and take a look at a cold start. I was simply wondering about the "theorical" voltage going out of this 3G terminal. "7V" or "14V". Jim, I am just trying to do the less as I can in winter time, since there's no heating in the barn nor in Big Bro's shelter. And I'm on vacation right now, so I try to do the more I can before going back to job next monday. I still have the 14V choke heater that I swapped between my original and replacement Holley carbs. So, if we conclude that I should install a relay, will I use this 14V part? Ok, I had to go buy some wood at the hardware at my chalet. Took Big Bro, so did a cold start with air filter lid removed. The choke flap did as usual: First full closed, then opened slowly until completely opened. Nothing special, not faster that usual. Seems that the current it receives from the 3G is similar than it was from the 1G. We'll see next winter. -

Electric choke voltage: Regarding this conversation we had in the past, I am wondering if the new 3G is sending the same 7V voltage to the electric choke. Should I confirm it? Remember, Big Bro had no relay and has a 7V choke heater. -

Oh, nothing really big. Just thin enough to fit under the bench seat. EDIT: And the modernizing radio kit is from Aurora Design.
