  1. RockAuto's October newsletter is giving some love to the Bullnose. This 84 Bronco is in Finland, and I don't see any of our members in Finland at all. Here's the link, but I've copied the only picture and the description below. https://www.rockauto.com/Newsletter/ "As one can imagine, finding classic Bronco parts in Finland is no easy task. Only a few of these even exist here. However, I have been positively surprised how well parts can be found at RockAuto. My bronco is a 1984 and has the 302 engine and AOD transmission. This truck was in quite a rough state when I bought it, and there are very few things on it that I I have not fixed or rebuilt. The AOD and transfer case has overhaul kits from RockAuto as well as the weather strips. Fuel pump, spark plugs, mirrors and tail lights are also from RockAuto. And I just ordered a thermostat, hoses and brake parts. Goes without saying, the bodywork needed some attention after years of offroad abuse. I opted for the original 1984 Ford color scheme of Dark Canyon Red and Polar White. Now she runs like a new truck, and nothing beats cruising with it in the countryside with my buddies. Tuomas in Finland"
  2. I do enjoy working on vehicles but I enjoy driving them more. So a lot of my own decisions are based on not getting it perfect, just getting it going. I would definitely go with the carb since that gets you on the road quicker, plus I think carbs are kind of fun and it's a bonus that they're simpler. I also like a mechanical fuel pump, and if I was installing a fuel system from scratch I would also only use a single tank. Cleaning up electrical sounds really nice. I've wanted to do that on my 85 F250 and 86 F150, but so far I've avoided it. Back to the "just get it going" - they run and drive and all, so that project is always on the backburner. I do admire a cleaned up engine compartment though.
  3. https://hibid.com/lot/215658845/1048--90-ford-450-super-duty-300-6-cylinder-w--a?ref=lot-list Ad states that the frame was sand blasted and coated, the 300 was rebuilt, and has new brakes, radiator, clutch, steering gear, card, etc. Currently only $1500 with about 32 hours left to go. I'm very interested to see what this one goes for. I'm not bidding (if I was I wouldn't have posted it), but I like it a lot. I really like the ease of posting pictures on the new forum.
  4. My guess is that it's a void to hold some grease. But I've used regular grade 8 bolts that are the same diameter for the whole shaft without issue.
  5. Sorry to highjack this thread, but the picture of the wood spacers between the frame rail and bed supports got me to looking into what I will need to put the flareside bed I have bought onto a truck that came with a styleside bed. I looked through documentation and didn't really see anything, but I'm sure I missed it. I guess the question is, are these short little wood spacers all that is needed between the bed and frame? Are they only located where bolts pass through them? In looking for documentation, I found a place where it is mentioned that FuzzFace2 used a metal floor from a styleside (which is my plan), and the thread was linked. But now, maybe due to the move, the link is no longer valid: https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/beds-tailgates-and-components.html (Go to Beds -> Flareside Bed Floors -> Metal Floor to see the link)
  6. This may have already been noted elsewhere, but if you're in the middle of replying to a post, you'll get a notification if a new post has been made in between the time of you starting the reply but before you've actually posted the reply. Pretty neat.
  7. Would you mind sharing what you did in the floor for the filler? I have a 95 F150 that has dual tanks that I'm wanting to swap over to look like a bullnose. I've bought the bed and rear bumper, but haven't started anything else with it. I would like to keep the rear tank and I also thought about just having the filler in the floor. I plan to cut the metal floor out of a later model donor bed.
  8. Logged in successfully. Had to use the reset password function, and it worked just fine. Will try posting a picture or two. Best dog ever in my 85 F250: Rearranged some vehicles to cut some grass, first time all 7 Fords have been in one pic: If the pictures posting works, the ability to drag and drop while on a computer was was better than previously.
  9. Very interesting 1986 F350 4x4 camper in AL. $36k. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/a9fb3368-0a27-4222-9ce5-b7cfd0b7dfed/ 1983 F100 stakebody with a flareside tailgate in NC. $10k. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/c51cb1f5-6c2b-4eb4-ba47-63647cab5207/ 1981 customized flareside. I'm not a fan of this one, but I thought it was odd enough to post it here. $15,750 in VA. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/55900dcb-e27b-484c-b706-bc078d1ce43b/
  10. Man that's a 5 dollar word. I had to google "exsanguinate." Kudos if you're actually able to retain words like that. I've tried, but just can't seem to recall them.
  11. I have one that looks like this now. It always seems like a crap shoot if any of the tools work though. Sometimes it works flawlessly, and other times it seems like nothing will work. There are two different style clips if I remember correctly. https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Double-Sided-Windshield-Configurations-Removing/dp/B0BLCXNKK6
  12. I looked it up and confirmed that it is defined as 4" (edit - SQUAT) in MS. MS usually is pretty lenient on vehicle laws, we have no emissions and no annual inspections. Tinted windshields and front windows were a problem with law enforcement when those laws first came out, but I'm not aware of that being enforced much, if at all, anymore. It could be that we have a lot of squatted vehicles. And I mean a lot. Drive past any high school parking lot, or the local car wash/Sonic hangouts, and they're everywhere. And like I said, I do think it's a dumb trend that looks incredibly stupid. But I'm not sure how I feel about a law banning it. Who's to say someone one day won't decide that anything that deviates from a factory setting would be banned? I have oversized tires on one truck, a slightly lowered Chevelle, non-factory exhaust including no cats on more than one vehicle. And back to the original subject, I want to have a lowered bullnose similar to the stance of the brown truck above.
  13. I've had good luck with the cheap rotors and drums from RockAuto and other parts stores over the years. Based on my good experience, I would only consider taking drums or rotors to get turned if replacements weren't readily and cheaply available. But I do keep the old original ones just in case. I don't know why. I've also even taken an angle grinder and knocked the lip off the end of worn rotors and drums, which I'm sure isn't recommended. If it was me and they aren't terrible, I'd reuse them.
  14. I'm 40, and I like a forward rake too. Anything is better than the "Carolina Squat." MS recently banned the squat in July and I think defined it as the front having more than 4" height relative to the rear. As dumb as I think the squat looks, I'm not sure how I feel about a law against it. Who's to say what they'll ban next? I'm interested in the drop beams for my 95 to Bullnose flareside project whenever I get around to it. I like the look of those steelie wheels also. Will be following this post to see what others have done!
  15. I'm a little late to this. That bumper sure looks correct. What is the distance between the circled bolts? Those are the ones that should line up to your frame.
