  1. Jim, I didn’t. As far as I can remember, Big Bro was as is. Maybe when my wife’s father was the owner? You are teaching me that this strap is supposed to stay there, complete. Listening at the guy’s video, I said to myself «hmm, ok, these little plastic chips were part of a strap in the past… maybe just there for the installation process.» So, I understand that this plastic strap is supposed to stay in place?
  2. It’s probably completely irrelevant and useless, but here is a picture of Big Brother’s clutch slave cylinder. F-350, 351W, T18. I know… Held in place with tie-wraps, cannot find a good clip.
  3. Ok, I thought that the “documentation” menu was part of Nabble platform. Now I understand that these are in fact “external links” to a different storage host, out of Nabble hosting/structure itself?
  4. I suppose that there are some better auction places than others, to get the highest as possible for such beauty.
  5. WOW! Nice job! And I love the knobs result!
  6. I agree that the possibility of formatting a message is an important requirement. And simply "attaching" picture or file is really different than having it (them) showed in the message core.
  7. Gary, I vote yes BUT: • This forum hosts a HUGE library. This is a gold mine. Moving to a new platform should offer an easy way to transfer it. • Another repository of information stands in the ability to search by subject and look at the numerous topics and threads. Suggestion: A new platform should offer the same possibility PLUS: - The ability for the posting member to tag the subject(s) discussed in his (her) thread (choosing in a pre-formatted subjects/categories menu?). This would help all members to search more efficiently. Kind of organisation of threads. - The possibility to "sort" the threads (more recent first, or reversal). - If possible, a more user-friendly way to post videos. - If possible, the possibility to post larger pictures (for more detailed zoom, if needed). - If possible, the possibility for a member to easily create "sub-topics" in his main thread. For exemple, a restoration project could be sorted by main subjects (body, interior, engine, electricity, etc). Or, a trip/adventure could be separated by different visited regions, or by trails for overlanding. - A more flexible search engine. - If possible, the possibility for a member (with no administrator status) to temporarily "lock" his post. For example, while writing the «storyboard» of a restoration journey, a member would want to have the time to structure and complete his posts, before opening it to other members reactions, commentaries and questions. Do you already have an idea of such platform? FINALLY: I know it's important for you to keep it free access for members. But maybe there could be a tag/button/link to enable an easy way for a voluntary contribution, for members who would want to help to maintain the forum, contribute for some future hosting fees, or for some software subscription, on a strictly voluntary basis if you want so.
  8. The tables Gary mentioned are very useful. With the help of this tool, I was able to calculate that original 18 tooth driven gear + 7 tooth drive gear (difficult to find on web) could be replaced by the team drive 6t + driven 16t, giving an accurate speedometer. In my case, the calculation table was very helpful.
  9. Could be a nice project truck. Needs a lot of love… and money!
  10. Nope, Big Bro doesn’t. Thanks guys for all these information, very instructive!
  11. Amazing! I am wondering about what he means about “aluminum skid plates”, looks like a normal add-on, that any good overlander would know… Do we understand that he added some plates under his truck? To protect what, aren’t the most sensitive under-truck parts the drive shaft and the axles/differential/transfer case? And why to choose aluminium as material, isn’t much less resistant than steel? I am curious about how these plates would look.
  12. Ok Gary, I got it. They are different style… There is the « folded up » style: And the « flat » style: And they all use a retainer clip. Didn’t find any NOS or used on the web, so a custom made knob is probably a good solution.
  13. Gary, I know I am very late, but this Dennis Carpenter knob cannot fit? EDIT: Out of stock! But this part number pops up NOS here and there on the web.
  14. 😍 Congrats! Don’t let the ol’ man in, and have lot of wonderful years ahead together! We two just hit 42 years together, and we have changed a little bit too. But who doesn’t? Well… Tom Cruise, maybe?
  15. Guys, be VERY CAREFUL if using the hitch as a recovery point. Remember this tragic accident . « The father of three died instantly according to his wife, with his three children behind him in the back seats, unfortunately bearing witness to the whole ordeal.» Being aware of that danger, I suppose that, if I was to use such towing way, I would attach a supplemental “cable to frame” link, so if the hitch breaks, the cable will not spring all the way back and will stay attached to the vehicle. And why not install such “safety link” at each end of the towing cable? Also, I know that a chain is heavy to carry, but it’s not like an “elastic” stretching cable. When it breaks, it simply drops, no?
  16. I have the same question. Am I missing something, or there is no clear answer for now? Even the wiring diagram has no mention about the wires gauges (or I don’t understand how to read at it?)
  17. Long ago, when I was kid, my Dad (who thought that the only maintenance a car needed was to add fuel) hit this kind of problem. Oil on the dip stick, no oil at the drain. The garage pulled out the pan, and a massive black jelly dropped on the ground in a big “flotch” sound! It appeared that the oil turned in jelly, with just enough liquid on top for the dip stick.
  18. Personally, I just don’t understand the motivation of the genius guy who decided to reverse these wires colors. Completely counter-intuitive. Thanks to Gary, I learned that Big Brother was “normal”.
