  1. I can't wait to do some MPG tuning next year. My Bullnose weighs in at just under 3400 lbs, so it's pretty light as trucks go. With the 5spd and 3.08 rear end, it only runs at about 2000 RPM or so on the highway at 60-ish MPH. I managed to hit 18.25 mpg last year, but I'd love to hit 20 or 21 with it. That would be great!
  2. Cool stuff. I like the look of them and might try a set myself. I hadn't seen them on enough Bullnoses to know if they were ever actually offered. The couple that I did see I assumed were swapped on from newer trucks.
  3. Thanks for the reply Scatch! It's nice to finally confirm that they were actually used on the Bullnose trucks. I want to try a set myself. They seem to be pretty rare...and I guess only used on the '85-'86 trucks.
  4. It's the same door. If you were only looking at the side, and couldn't see the wheel arches or beyond, you'd have a hard time distinguishing a bullnose with the '92-96 mirror from a stock '92-96 truck. To me, it looks perfectly natural, and a LOT more usable. We all have our own tastes and opinions, and that in itself is a good thing. Otherwise we'd all be driving the exact same trucks. I wouldn't say that somebody "gets no points" for wanting period correct parts, it's just a personal preference. Sometimes form is preferred over function. Having said that, I'm certainly not against upgrades and improvements. To me a 5spd manual is a good example. I also took your advice Steve and installed a later model plastic brake master cylinder, and I couldn't be happier with it. That in my mind is a worthwhile upgrade. But back to the mirrors... I don't really have much preference between the small Type-5 mirrors and the more traditional Type-9 mirrors. My truck has the smaller Type-5's on it, and they are most definitely the least functional of all options, but I still like them. If my truck had had the larger Type-9 mirrors on it, I would have left it that way. I have a mild curiosity about the Type-14 paddle style mirrors. I really like them, but they seem to be to be so rare on a Bullnose they seem out of place to me. I may order a set sometime and give them a try and see if I like the look of them. I have a couple pics saved of these mirrors installed, but they seem to be fairly uncommon on the Bullnose trucks...
  5. You may not give extra points for era correct mirrors, but I do. We all have our opinions, but to me the later style mirrors look out of place on a Bullnose.
  6. I'm just going to use 18ga. The new speakers came with wire pigtails, and they're smaller than 18...so I'm sure 18 is fine, at least for mine.

I would have done that in two days when I was a little younger, but I think now I'd stretch it out over 3-4 days. Fingers crossed for Skiatook 2020.

Ron, I'm a good 700 miles past you! I'm hoping to go next year and make some stops along the way. A little far off to confirm 100%, but I'm going to try.
  9. Yeah, it was in a bag...you can see it in the picture. AS for being careful, I'm not so sure...lol, but it's long gone now.
  10. My seal is the same as the one pictured above. Is that the original style or the aftermarket style?
  11. Welcome aboard Greg. Everybody on here is in the middle of a project, so you'll be in good company.
  12. Oh, I didn't look far enough down the pictures to even notice that. What's with the EATON switch on the shifter? Is that for the Overdrive or something else?
  13. Lookin' good gtanns! Please do post up some glamour shots when it's all fired up and rollin'!
  14. Interesting, that is the same seller in Oregon with the 85 F250 on Ebay that I posted. That's a beautiful Dentside.
  15. I'm just outside of Halifax...between the city and Peggy's Cove. There weren't many opportunities to see my truck on the road this season unfortunately. I took it back and forth to Dartmouth a small handful of times for car night in Woodside, or to take it to work, and that was it. It was really only on the road for a couple weeks in July, and it's been in the body shop now since the beginning of August. In any case, I'll have it back this week and It will be back on the road by the end of the week. If all goes well I'm going to try and make the last couple car shows around...there's one near Bridgewater next weekend, and another in Moncton the week after that. Other than that, I just want to drive it, so I might even try to squeeze in a lap around the Cabot Trail if everything is working as it should;). I see your truck is coming along well. Nice work man!
  16. This old girl looks to be pretty straight for her age. Interior is nice, and mileage is low. 3/4 of the way through the first day of the auction and bidding is already at $5100 bucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/283621197388
  17. Did your truck have this seal previously? Is that how you knew the orientation and where to install it on the door?
  18. I spent some time yesterday trying to rehab a junkyard washer/coolant reservoir. I've had a really hard time finding one of these that was usable. This one below is the closest I've found yet. Cleaned it out (it was black and filthy with 35 years of grime), installed new washer fluid pump, and painted the top cover satin black. I'm just going to silicone it back together (Black RTV back in original locations) and I'll have it ready for when I get the truck back on Tuesday. It's not perfect, but at least my truck will have a correct reservoir with a working pump.
  19. Cool! I visited that museum back sometime in 2005-2006. It's worthwhile if you're passing by.
  20. AFAIK, it's Steve (Maurice) Miller. LOL:nabble_smiley_happy:
  21. Just a Kenwood single din media player head unit and a pair of Kenwood 6.5” speakers for the doors.
  22. And sold for $8600 bucks. Man that sure is a lot of truck for the money. What a beauty!
  23. What size wiring should I use for the 6.5" Kenwood door speakers? I have a roll of 18ga speaker wire on the shelf, but it looks awfully small. Should I grab a small roll if 16ga? Thoughts from the experts?
