  1. I know, right? I have an overwhelming urge to do so...lol, but must hold back because I have parts now that I don't need;). Gary, are those high back bucket seats factory? There's a switch/lever on the seat down on the bottom...
  2. 1991 was the last year for the old boxy Crown Vic wasn't it? Was it the last year for the 5.0 as well? Right, not a true serpentine system. It does have two belts. I wouldn't mind having a serpentine system on my old 302, if there was an easy way to do it. Not that there's anything wrong with the V-belts. Just got word via FB that this little peach arrived at the local Pick-N-Pull this afternoon. Fairly well intact too. Too bad I don't need anything from it...lol. I might go grab that padded steering wheel. '86 w/302 EFI and Auto trans. Interior looks really nice compared to how most of them arrive at the junkyards around here.
  3. Most sellers don't do No Reserve auctions, so it's a bit unique in that sense. If it was an XLT/Lariat with AC, I bet she'd crack $10k, but the plain models don't fetch the big bucks like the fancy trucks do. I guess we will see. I see people arguing on FB all the time over truck values, but in my opinion, auction prices on Ebay are honest indicators of market value.
  4. Came across this scan tool this morning while looking for other junk. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-other/st-catharines/actron-3-scantool-eec-iv-also-powerstroke-diesel-200-firm/1492758999?undefined I know nothing about them...figured one of you fellas would if they're worth 5 bucks or not. Just listed yesterday, and seller is asking $200 CDN (About $140 USD at current exchange rate).
  5. Came across another single wheel 350 this morning, this one a little closer to you Shaun. This one an '86. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/134743237955231/
  6. This old girl appears to be well preserved for it's age. Has the optional slide out steps installed. Interior is in nice condition. No AC. I'd rather the plain steel wheels over those hubcabs that were thrown on there. https://www.ebay.com/itm/114150365727
  7. The wrong beds are cool because it would keep people asking questions!! I love it, just like it sits.
  8. Great tip David, thanks. I will do just that.
  9. I think the 4spd OD trans shifters were basically straight, no? The earlier 4spd OD shifters were curved and were way back against the seat, but the later Tremec TOD ('85-'87) had a tower mounted shifter (like the M5OD) and had a really straight stick iirc. Maybe David will see this and comment. I'm pretty sure he has a 4spd OD, and being an '86, it would have to be the Tremec trans.
  10. Yup, NP435 curvy stick. Can spot them a mile away. I have one grafted on to my 5spd.
  11. Well they shouldn’t be bad Gary I installed all new cables and all new grounds. Doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem, but I hadn’t even thought of them. I’m going to try a few things this week since it looks like I’m going to be working from home for a while.
  12. The roads were dry and the sun shining, so I've been driving the truck quite a bit this weekend. Oh my does it feel good after being locked away all winter!! The above pic is in a park behind one of our two shipping terminals. You can't really see them, but there are two containers ships in the background in various states of loading/unloading. The one further back is the CMA CGM Aquila, and she is a monster. It fits in what is now called the "New Panamax" size vessels. Just a few years ago, she was too big to even fit through the Panama Canal at 150 ft wide and 1200 ft long. At the time it would have been known as a "Post Panamax" sized vessel. Here's a zoomed in pic of the stern...and you can see that it fits 18 containers across. I then took a spin up and around the Citadel...and old fortress in the middle of the city. The old truck is running like a champ, but I'm having starter issues and need to sort that out, and I'm still having vibration and wheel shake issues between 40-50 MPH. I must get that sorted out now that the good weather is arriving.
  13. Well, to throw a wrench into things, it was actually hard starting cold today. Past couple times was only when it was hot, but first start of the day today acted up as well. I'll try the original DSII box. That's easy. I'll dial the timing back after that. Finally, I do have a spare (junkyard) PMGR starter (Reman) I could swap in and try.
  14. I always find it odd that sellers with Flaresides don't show pics of the inside of the bed. Good condition or not, it IS one of the more unique features of the truck imho. Still, it looks to be in very nice condition, and it being white just makes it look even cleaner. I assume that it would have had letters on the tail gate originally, or no? Were they ever offered just plain like this one? I mean, my '84 was about as plain a truck as you could buy, and it still had letters on the gate. Repainted perhaps.
  15. Looks like it was made from scratch to me...but maybe they did section and widen a factory bed. Who knows. I don't care for the look of it, but they get a nod for all the time and effort in doing it.
  16. Gary...good point. You reminded me that I did also swap out the DSII box. The one that is installed now is one of the Motorcraft ones from Amazon...but who knows if it is the same? I think I'll try the old factory DSII box and see how it works. Thanks for the heads up.
  17. Truck is inop...but cheap and not rusty...lol. What is the gear splitter? Something like a GVOD, I assume? If you were close, and a diesel guy... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/942136039516735/?surface=product_details
  18. I almost feel like I've seen this truck before, but it has an interesting custom wide bed on it. Somebody put a lot of work into that. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/228699724966839/?surface=product_details
  19. Nice little Flareside here. 27k original miles, and looks like it has been well kept. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/583409222221928/?surface=product_details
  20. I do not, no. They are only the shorty headers that fit in place of the stock manifolds, so they're no closer to the starter than the manifold was, although I'm sure they radiate more heat. However...with ambient temps being only 41-42 degrees, I can't imagine that it was getting that hot under the hood? Sitting in traffic in the middle of summer, sure, but now barely above freezing? In any case, it is a good point... I'm pretty sure Scott @ Parkland told me to set it at 17deg BTDC, but maybe that is just a touch too far. I guess it's free to dial it back and see what happens. I was hoping to not have to touch it since it is running so well now.
  21. This thing would be quite a serious project by the sounds of it...if it isn't already only a parts vehicle. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2529282333979471/?surface=product_details
  22. So I had the old Bullnose out for her first proper spring run, even if it was a bit early. She got a bath, and some fresh 2020 gasoline. Now, I have a problem that wasn't present when I put the truck away in the fall. It's now hard to start when hot. All I did over the winter if you recall was fix some vacuum leaks and reset the carb tuning, etc. But, I also installed my new distributor and set the initial timing to the recommended 17deg BTDC. So is the lazy starting a result of the timing being too far advanced? Or bad starter? (It is 36 years old after all). It literally sounded like the starter didn't have enough power to crank the engine, but it whirled over fine when it was cold.
