  1. It's not exactly how I would have liked to see the truck go, but it's not my truck anymore and that's what happens when you sell them. I follow the owner on Ebay, and have seen a large amount of the parts from the truck go up for sale. Funny how I can recognize most of them after spending so much time with that truck. Replaced the heater core today. Was kind of dreading it, but went to the parts store and they had one. So, looked into it, pulled the glove box and the glove box door and pulled the panel to see what I had, and there was the heater core! Went well and fairly quick.
  2. You guys have me thinking. I found a one piece oil pan gasket. (I think from info on this site) Had a mechanic who used to be here in town replace the rear main and pan gasket. I know he had the exhaust loose or removed. He did it without pulling the engine. I’m wondering if he dropped the front axle down. He’s worked mostly Fords, particularly Ford diesels and 4WD a lot.

  4. Ok, thanks Larry, I was thinking it might be a setup like that but couldn’t remember and haven’t got to look at my truck yet. Need to “look” at my truck as the heater core started leaking yesterday as I drove home.
  5. I see 1/4-18 for my (our) radiator. Here: https://www.championradiators.com/3-row-Ford-Truck-1985-1996 Where is the info about the Ford part number?
  6. I put a Champion in my truck, the lines threaded right in. But I had a leak at a union near the fitting. Finally got it to stop. If it didn’t, I was thinking of putting on a 1/4 barb fitting and double flaring the tube and using a small length of rubber hose.
  7. Thanks Gary. Mine is an auto, so this was never an option, unfortunately. This truck is a family heirloom, so just as the good Lord would have it, right when my brother stopped by this afternoon, I bumped the starter again and the old 351 turned over for the first time! We are at 4 weeks exactly of ATF soaking, in conjunction with breaker bar force applied to the crank bolt every 2-3 days. The photo I've attached shows the crud that blew out of the rear driver's side cylinder, which is the one I had identified as the worst off. Spent a few hours this afternoon changing the oil (drained about 1 cup of rain water from the pan), replacing plugs, and buttoning everything up. Was able to get the truck running on carb cleaner, but the carburetor butterfly valve is rusted shut. Next step will be to get a rebuilt carb, check fuel pump, and check compression. Then it's back to the ranch we go! Cool! Glad it broke free.
  8. https://bend.craigslist.org/cto/d/bend-1985-ford-250-4wd-pickup/7381872404.html Well equipped me thinks!
  9. https://klamath.craigslist.org/cto/d/malin-1996-ford-bronco/7381798252.html Thought I’d put this on here. It’s a decent price in my opinion. Only thing that would concern me is the mileage on the automatic tranny. And I’d rather have a 351. Interior looks good, the dash doesn’t appear to be cracked.
  10. I would say do the full inside of the bed before the install of the liner. I say this because when the trucks were new and a liner installed, over the years dirt & water get in between the liner and the bed floor / walls and with the vibration of the liner when driving it is like sand paper sanding the paint away. Later when the liner is removed for some reason there are rust holes in the bed floor where the paint was sanded away and the water able to eat on the metal floor. I also dont like the liners as anything you put in the bed slides all over the place. If it was me I would do some type of rust converter then a roll on bed liner or have a pro spray on a liner. I guess you could spray it on your self if you have the equipment. I say this as the metal floor on my flare side was pro lined when it was part of the parts truckbed. I have thrown things in the bed, 1 a heavy metal brake (bender) with no worry of it marking the floor or moving. Just my .02 BTW I did 2 coats of roll on bed liner, top & bottom of the cab floor for protection and it has held up well in the 2 years on the road. Top has carpet on it now but for at least 6 months it did not. Dave ---- Hadn’t given this much thought as I haven’t done any bed liners. When I had a canopy (topper, cap) on my truck I put a rubber floor mat in it. Like this, https://www.deezee.com/product/truck-bed-mats/ When I sold the canopy I remember thinking what am I going to do with this bed mat. Had it in there ever since, and I like it. Stuff doesn’t slide around, I don’t slide around when I’m back there when it’s wet. Easy enough to move and/or remove to clean up debris.
  11. Fantastic! Makes me want to go there!
  12. I don’t know if you got in my head, but it looks different for some reason. But I like it!
  13. I checked my 94 F250 with the 460 , after driving around town one particularly bad winter, i.e., slow, always in 4WD. I got 6.6 MPG!
