  1. On the EGR, do some research, it’s not a bad thing to have. If your engine will run good with it. I can’t get my 460 running good with it so I have a plate on there to block it off. Going to have to try again some day.
  2. I have the same question on my Suburban. Don’t know where it goes, other than evaporation like Gary said.
  3. Ok, thanks. If there weren’t holes drilled already I would have doubled up on the Delta type. Actually Dee Zee I guess. https://www.autozone.com/truck-boxes-and-liquid-storage-tanks/tool-box-mounting-kit/dee-zee-toolbox-tiedown-kit/132878_0_0
  4. And with that done I turned to the lower plenum, aka intake manifold. But I soon wished I'd made a mask using the intake manifold gasket when I painted the heads as I had a lot of paint I had to remove in order to get down to bare metal. That took a long time to clean up, but when I done it was time to put the plenum on. I'd seen Scott's pic on his FB page about using RTV on the gasket, and here's how he does it, with the caption saying "Note sparing use of RTV to avoid oil creep from the valley into the ports and above." So that's what I did on the inside of the gasket. But I put a similar bead of RTV around the water ports on the other side of the gasket. That took quite a bit of time, but with it done I made a large bead of RTV across the china walls and, with the studs in the corners, I lowered the plenum on. Then I installed the bolts and nuts snug to pull the plenum down into the RTV and I'll leave it over night and then torque things down in the morn. But, here's what it is starting to look like: Man, that’s looking good!
  5. I found my inlet duct and hose at a u pull it.
  6. By the way, I am assuming that the 83-86 fitment was due to the 6-digit odometer? I believe the earlier Bullnoses in Canada still had the 5-digit odometers. My 1984 has a 6-digit odometer. I think they stayed at 5-digit in the US right until the end in 1986 didn't they? My 86 is 5.
  7. Yes, thanks Shaun. My box is 28 1/4” wide, do you recommend two on each side?
  8. I'd buy that truck. PS: The seller gets props for including a picture of the Certification Label! Love it when they do that. I do too! And I agree Shaun, hadn’t seen those. I have the ones from Delta that are no drill. There were already holes on my truck, I think I added one more because they didn’t seem sturdy enough for my Weatherguard. https://www.weatherguard.com/products/truck-tool-boxes-equipment/boxes/GullWingBox/115-3-01 My friend looked at my toolbox and said it’s a good thing you have a long bed!
  9. https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/grants-pass-1982-ford-f150/7023706634.html Seems reasonable, I’m always skeptical of the miles.
  10. Nice! I like the way your truck looks without the trim, and I usually prefer not to have it. But, I do like the way that trim looks. Have it on my truck.
  11. Found this. https://www.oilburners.net/threads/school-me-on-the-cdr-valve.51486/ Don’t remember watching it, that’s pretty cool!
  12. Haven’t used them. But I’m skeptical on a “perfect” fit. I had to trim the original door panels on my 92 Bronco because they squeaked and rattled. Bad fit from the factory. Maybe the bullnose panels are better.
  13. Here’s what I used on aircraft. On a truck I’ve got it on compression stroke then use a pencil and as your moving the piston feel where it stops moving up and starts moving down split the difference and see where you are on the timing mark. The tool for aircraft has a degree wheel to split the difference. https://aircraft-tool.com/shop/detail.aspx?id=E25
  14. You could do both, a compression check before you go and a leak down when you get there. Edit, have you checked for intake leaks? Vacuum leaks?
  15. My son sent me this. https://theautumnred.yolasite.com/
  16. I agree, the MAP Sensor on our Burb got oily and dirty, put paper in ever since on all my vehicles.
  17. Yes, at one point they would inspect the truck, it is my understanding they don’t anymore. That’s what irks me, you’re right it’ll tow anything on their lot! On your RV, was it a head gasket? The 454 is notorious for intake manifold leaks and it goes in the crankcase. Happened to me once. The last time the Nemesis (my name for the Burb) broke down on my wife away from home, we used a shop my SIL and her husband knew. They said the infamous intake manifold was leaking, I said fix it!
