  1. What damage??? What happens if you suck through a straw and put your finger over the end?
  2. Why would the stator current be any different, one to the next?
  3. If it was the one that came in the truck it would be burnished on the entirety of the lobes, and look used....
  4. Born in KS & living in OK id imagine you know a thing or two. I just know when the sky turns green you better move to a safe place!
  5. But it didn't exist with more than 2 billion people on it. Things were a bit less crowded in the 1920's, and there was certainly a lot less 'heat island effect' from concrete structures, paved roads & parking lots, etc.. Remember, grass and shrubs respire, water evaporates from soil. All of these are carrying 540 cal away with every cc of water. It's a lot more cooling than you might expect. Also homes were not nearly as 'tight' and more often had wood shingle roofs over skip sheathing. Bevel or shingle siding, single glazed windows, porches, dog trots, etc. "The world" was a very different place.
  6. Some of these HEI units have a separate wire for tach. In the harness it's the same bk/gr ground as goes back to the DS-II Module. Edit EVTM image: Caps w/ coils are cheap enough. 👍 The 5 pin GM modules will retard spark if that 5th (H) pin is grounded, so you can wire a micro relay to the (I) terminal of the fender relay and have it retard when cranking.
  7. I had the Zf -5 factory manual bookmarked, and then they changed their site and I can't even find the document anymore. Yes, there is a wide range of fluids that can be used, up to and including MT90. I would consider your climate. I certainly wouldn't want 90 in my gearbox if I lived in the upper Midwest, Alaska, Canada etc... I used Royal Purple Synchromax in my gearbox after 3 flushes of strawberry milkshake (bought it for $100 from a rusted in half plow truck) It sat 9-10 months a year and obviously had condensation problems. Funny, my '87 has gate to the side. Maybe that was just a running change? On your yoke..... I happen to have a 10.25 short pinion strap yoke "free to a good home" in the marketplace. It has 3 miles on it, because I was sold a long pinion R&P as fitting '85-92.... 😡 I have no idea, but the long pinion yoke was only $130 and the R&P was already set up, sooooo. If you want it for the cost of USPS Priority flat rate let me know and I will take the ad down. Edit: WRT the '87-91 clusters, I wish I had known before I trashed the two spare tach clusters I had at the barn. I asked anyone I knew, but if it's gotta go, it's gotta go.
  8. Glad the HEI is working for you! Do you have a tach, and is that wire hooked up? Where is the initial spark set now that you can turn the distributor? Does the starter labour on hot restarts without spark retard? Do you intend to do any tuning of weights, springs and vacuum can?
  9. A gallon of water for every person on the planet. It's still not a drop in the ocean, and the ocean when the eye is parked over the Gulfstream
  10. Right, I'll take off the air filter cover and take a look at a cold start. I was simply wondering about the "theorical" voltage going out of this 3G terminal. "7V" or "14V". Jim, I am just trying to do the less as I can in winter time, since there's no heating in the barn nor in Big Bro's shelter. And I'm on vacation right now, so I try to do the more I can before going back to job next monday. I still have the 14V choke heater that I swapped between my original and replacement Holley carbs. So, if we conclude that I should install a relay, will I use this 14V part? I would. If you decide that you need the extra complexity you need a choke heater to match, or it will come off much too quickly in winter when you need choke most. Tell us why you can't get your "7V" system adjusted correctly.
  11. Is your alternator unique to every other alternator Ford put in cars & trucks since 1964? "7V"... always in quotes, because it's RMS of a 14.5ishV sine wave that constantly changes with engine rpm. If it doesn't work in the dead of winter you can always swap out the choke and add a relay, like 351HO's were wired from the factory.
  12. I can't understand why they don't just go to propane. (well, of course I DO!) I won't get into geeking on the life & death of Midgley,. Not having high pressure ammonia inside your house or car was revolutionary back then. Obviously, a mandate is like a license to print money!
  13. Should be a hex inside, it's a '65 Mustang part number available for under $6 when I last checked, but it's been a while. twice as much now! https://www.cjponyparts.com/oil-filter-threaded-insert-mustang-5-0l-1982-1995/p/HW2387/?year=1984&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8MG1BhCoARIsAHxSiQnpU-OQSpVOgxiA2MsluQxxBQ6__3BSJpIBoWq_LsGNL4CF5GoVEg0aAhQzEALw_wcB Yeah, yeah I know what it says about fitment, but it fits 429/460 as well.
  14. I'm making a new post instead of editing the image into the last one. Gary would like to ask you where exactly, and if you'd like to add your city or zip code to our members map.
  15. The 351 HO trucks had a choke relay pulled in by the stator wire. Let me go check for a schematic in the EVTM's
  16. There's a lot of Motorcraft forgeries being sold online, and even through chain stores.
  17. Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a breather hooked up to a PCV. There's got to be a dozen plastic elbows in the HELP! aisle So, actually providing filtered makeup air to the opposite end of the opposite valve cover should help clear vapor, mist and smoke out of the crankcase. I don't know that it will remedy the oil consumption.
  18. TG is completely different than actual melting temperature. I'm willing to bet it's easily 250°+F on a hot day stuck in traffic. I think I have some Tempilstick's that cold. I'll take e look when I don't have quite so much at hand.
  19. I'm playing the closer from Led Zeppelin 4 "When The Levee Breaks" It's a classic Delta Blues song. I don't think there's any chance Avelo is flying out of Charleston on Wednesday morning.
  20. What are you going to print in that can handle summer underhood temperatures? Did you ever consider just gluing/fusing it together? Like walls down to whatever radius, and a bottom or top that is pretty flat to begin with? I know next to nothing, but my brother's older son is printing ~20 hours a day. Michael always seems to fight with nipping or tearing out supports, so he avoids them at all costs.
  21. 14 x 9 5/8 is about the size of a legal pad, one inch wider. 30"??? I don't know if my sister is getting out of there on Wednesday, for our baby brothers wedding Saturday 🤯
  22. The question also depends on 250 or 350. 250's have a negative arch, and only about one inch before the bump stop, but they retract on a bump. 350's before '85 or so wstill had twin beam but positive arch springs, and would poke forward into bumps. You can see the height difference in the pitman arms. Moving the pivot down is the only way to control alignment and spring twist.
  23. Back in the day we would just buy a beam type torque wrench. You could throw it across the garage and it would still read correctly. Today, I would probably buy a digital adapter that beeps and lights up. They also do degrees, like you need for torque to yield fasteners. 💡
  24. It looks to me like they are ~20' above sea level from what this James Island topo map shows. That surprises me as I don't remember a hill of any kind between their house and the water, and I've driven it many times. A few months ago they had some torrential rains and Ian got his kayak out and paddled down the streets in the neighborhood. But there was no water close to the house. So hopefully they will have a similar experience this time. According to that map my sister is 16m (~40') above sea level, but it doesn't seem to matter when the river backs up.🤷‍♂️ 🙏 & for all of them.
