  2. I appreciate the direct and honest feedback. And I can understand ditching Facebook. However, our church uses it religiously () so I'll continue to use it. In fact, via Facebook I just learned that Steve/FoxFord33 is ill, so keep him in your prayers. Anyway, I agree it would take a lot of work, and I can see how the view might not be worth the climb. So thanks. But let's leave this poll up for a bit to see what happens.
  3. Wow! That's BIG! Thanks, but I don't think I'm interested. But, if it had the right 413....
  4. Not a bad looking Flareside, but no price? Did I miss it?
  5. That's quite a filter. Should help the tranny's life, but you do need to protect it, so the shield sounds like a good idea.
  6. Well, having thought about it, you are right. There can't be any more than 1/2". If the bolt is 1 1/4" and the flange is 1/2" that leaves 3/4". But that washer has to be 1/8" when compressed, and the gasket is probably about the same. So ~1/2" is probably the max it could be.
  7. Yes, probably 1/2" flange, but there's more than 1/2" of engagement. Don't know how much, but there sure seems to be a lot when you are doing it 1/16 turn at a time.
  8. Well, it was a day. Got the passenger-side header bolts snugged up and the driver-side header installed and the bolts snugged up. But that in and of itself wasn't as easily done as said. Many of those bolts are so close to the exhaust tube that my Craftsman 3/8" 12-point wrench, shown on the left, wouldn't go on. So I modified a spare a little bit to get clearance, and it took all of that grinding to get the needed clearance. Then I tried to put the tranny in. No go. In this pic you can see that the tranny is touching the header at the starter bump, and the pilot stud is just visible through the top hole, but not yet lined up. So, I did some measuring. I know this isn't very accurate, but the engine plate pic on the right shows roughly 1 9/16" to the edge, and the transmission pic on the right shows essentially the same measurement. So it looks to me like there will be the same clearance between the tranny and the header as there is to the engine plate - if I can get the tranny there. Having said that, it wouldn't hurt to take a bit off the tranny with the flap wheel to make sure there's room. So I think I'll do that tomorrow as well as loosen the bolts on that header and swing it as far away as I can, which is ~3/8". Other ideas? Suggestions? Help!
  9. I dumped it for almost 5 years for the same reason, and only in the last year or two re-activated my account so that I had access to FB Marketplace and Vendor pages (where they post their sales and discount codes). Otherwise, I would probably have stayed off it forever. In any case, I too voted no. I think it would be too difficult to police and keep it as nice/calm/cool/collected as Gary's forum. Cory - I understand where you are coming from as well. We sure seem to see the seamy side of people at times on Facebook. And it would be work, for sure, to police it.
  10. Matthew - I understand from whence you come. But my premise was that we impose our guidelines. I do NOT want a cesspool and wonder if there are others like that out there who would be willing to join a Facebook page but don't want a forum. There appears to be a whole generation of folks who do social media, like FB, but don't do forums. Do we want to help them? At what cost? Those are the basic questions.
  11. Good update, thanks. As my father was wont to say, two steps forward and one backward is still progress. And, as Jim is wont to say, progress is good and you are making progress in spite of the clocking problem. On your first drive, be careful. Jonathan says hydroboosted brakes work extremely well, and you don't want to hit your head on the steering wheel.
  12. No, these are the bolts and washers that came with the headers:
  13. We have a Facebook page called the Bullnose Forum. And we have one called Gary's Garagemahal. Both are set up as just placeholders pointing people here. But there are people on here, myself included, who frequent the various Bullnose pages on Facebook. And there are people on Facebook who aren't interested in a forum. So, should we open those pages up to comments and questions? If so, we need to use the same guidelines we have here, and we need to enforce them as I do not like the way some other pages are allowed to run. And that would mean we'd need some people to sign up to moderate there. Thoughts? Votes?
  14. I actually do have a clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and throw out bearing I took off Big Blue that's for sale. Won't fit a ZF5 so I had to go new.
  15. I think it's all good as is Gary. Frank, understood. I prefer the help I get here on Non-Bullnose stuff over having to hunt for it elsewhere;). The thing I forgot was the title of the responses. So I've change the title to this response, and if people respond to me we'll be back on track.
  16. Haha, I suppose so... Well, in that case move it over to my RV thread and I'll keep it all together there;). Like this? Now, what posts do you want deleted?
  17. Gary, For what it's worth, returning the entire intake system on this thing back to stock will probably do nothing other than lighten my wallet, but the psychological effect will be huge for my mild (sometimes severe) OCD...lol. You can move these new comments back over to the RV thread if you wish Gary. I just figured I'd keep the non-Bullnose stuff out of general population...lol. While not Bullnose related, you guys have been very helpful on the 460/E4OD/Dana topics that I am an extreme rookie with;). It is up to you, Cory. Tell me where you want them moved and I'll do it. We aren't picky. Bill's got his LeBaron on here, I have the boat somewhere, and Ray's talking about a Crown Vic. The thing that brought us together is Ford trucks, but that doesn't mean that's all we have in common. So why not talk about them as well?
  18. Yeah, we've had heat, frost, heat, rain, wind, etc. Crazy spring. Wasn't supposed to rain yesterday and we had a storm blow up. But the fender looks good, and paint is paint for the floor, who cares? You'll be driving it this weekend!
  19. Yes, it does look good. And getting everything together to install is my way of doing it. But don't worry about posting the RV part on the Garagemahal/Bullnose Bible. It doesn't seem to car.
  20. Extending the wires can sure make a difference. I did something similar on Big Blue and it left the passenger's side fender liner looking a lot more purposeful instead of the wiring running across at an odd angle. So where are the shots of the interior? You know that by posting pics here you'll always be able to find them. As for Halfords, I've been in a few of those in my time. Probably in Watford, though I can't remember for sure. But we lived in Moor Park, near Watford, and had a few issues with the Nissan Prairie we drove. On the fender liners, after priming/painting/and adding the clear coat are they delicate?
  21. That's the last thing I want. According to Summit, their brand stainless braided hose is compatible with just about everything. Looking like I'm going to have to spend some time this week figuring out trans plumbing! There's always something I'm forgetting... Seems like that's the right stuff to use. What filter are you going to use? Are you going to place it where it can easily be replaced?
  22. I've never even seen duck pin bowling, much less played. But I've heard that the pins are smaller and harder to knock down. As far as Big Blue goes, I do have a lot of those pins lined up. But, I awoke with a thought this morn - what if there's no lock washer on the bolt that won't go in the whole way? These lock washers are about twice as thick as a normal one, and the absence would leave the bolt sticking out quite a ways. That might explain it.
