  1. Thank you, Scott. When you have a bunch of aluminum channel everything gets some form of it as a solution.
  2. I'm sure many of you have noticed, and been perturbed by, the slow response time on the Nabble server and the "server over capacity" messages we've been getting. I'm really sorry for them, but want you to know that we are working behind the scenes to get them resolved. As background, we are running on a server provided by Nabble and we don't pay anything. NADA. So we don't really have any right to complain. But Nabble has been moving more forums onto that one server and the response time has been slowly deteriorating. Given that, work has been going on to get the forum software to run on another server outside of Nabble. And as of yesterday that has been successful. There are still a lot of details to be worked out, but this is really good news. The plan is to bring that software up on a commercial server that we control and cut over at some point in the not too distant future. I wish I could tell you exactly what that is going to entail, but the fact is that we don't yet know all of the details. However, we will make the transition as seamless as is possible. I'll provide more updates as the plan unfolds, but rest assured that there is relief on its way.
  3. Bill - If the problem is that the air in the air cleaner is loaded with gas, how about testing with the air cleaner off? Or, pull the lid and let it clear out and put the lid back on to start?
  4. Yes, something like that under a board would be good.
  5. Yes, every project has its unexpected revelations, but yours seem to have lots of them. Glad you got it fixed.
  6. That is a good idea, Gary. I was going to suggest something plastic, like a coffee can lid or ? David - The plastic would seal better than wood if it doesn't bend too much.
  7. Yes, I'd think the sight glass would tell the tale. The gas can't pour into the intake if the level stays low. But that pressure rise is odd. Like you, I'd have thought that the hot fuel handling's orifice would bleed any pressure off almost as soon as you turn the engine off, and certainly not let it build up. In fact, I saw the pressure drop almost immediately when I turned the key off. But I never checked on buildup. So, I think you have a blockage in your return. Not saying that it is the problem with the hot start as if the fuel level doesn't come up then that shouldn't be the cause. But.....
  8. Thanks, Jim. I'll wait and see how this works out. I put the filter in the bracket and used a really small tape to check the distance - 10 1/8" - which works out to a diameter of 3.22". However, the tape is very flexible and the clamps aren't, so I doubt the clamp will conform as tightly as the tape did to the not-so-round path w/o over tightening it. Given that, I'm guessing that it'll be a bit over 3.5", but we shall see.
  9. It looks good above, pun intended, but looks better this way. I'd missed that there was one in Kansas, my home state. So I looked at the listing and see that it is w/i 1/2 mile of our old house in Wichita. Small world.
  10. Got these on order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WLN2CKF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They may be just a tad too big as they only go down to 3 1/2" and my math says I need 3 1/4", but I can go to a thicker hose if needed.
  11. It looks like they drilled a few extra holes, but you should have the original ones in there. The illustration below, from our page at Documentation/Interior/Seats & Seat Tracks shows how the bench seats attach. Note that the front attachment point is on the slanted part of the floor. Maybe you can find yours to ensure they are there? And I can get measurements if you need to tell you where to look.
  12. I'm going to guess, before looking, that this is one of those that has the extended bed and a spare tire carrier integrated into the bed on the passenger's side ahead of the rear tire. Now I'll look ... Well, I'm disappointed. The advert doesn't even show that side of the truck. But the badge does look to say Super Camper Special. And the rear wheels are certainly pushed farther back. Here's an article in Hagerty about them, and at $2200 that one's a buy.
  13. They are nice, and the price isn't too bad. But they don't fit with the plans for either of my trucks.
  14. I missed that it is just the compressor. Duh! Yes, it could fit all those years.
  15. I don't understand how it can fit that many different vehicles. But that's what it says.
  16. Do you have a piece of wood you can use to seal the carb? Drill a hole in it and slip it over the air cleaner stud.
  17. And, I got a bit more done this afternoon. First, I mocked up the relay project box and put it where I think it should go. That let me route the fuel lines and trial-position the filter, more of which later. But here's where the box will go, and you can see the wires that will go into it: Then I made a fuel filter bracket. I'm not going to powder coat it, but will leave it natural aluminum. However, with the hose on it there should be no contact 'tween it and the filter. But it'll be attached to the frame. Oh well. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to drill the holes to mount it, which will let me determine where to put the connectors and do that step. Then I can mount it and start working on the lines to go up the back of the engine. In the interim I'm looking for a stainless hose clamp that is at least 10" long. But I'll use the big zip tie until it comes in.
  18. Lonni - You are now on the map. But, please do yourself a favor and log on and look at your posts on the forum. You are responding via email, which puts a whole lot of junk in your thread. Take a look at this post by clicking this link: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/New-Memeber-tp70478p70509.html. It is your thread, but I fear people will get tired of trying to sort through all of the junk to find your posts and you'll lose them. Instead I suggest you click the link to log onto the forum on the website and reply there. But, again that is your call. However, I hope you won't respond via email like that on my threads. If you really must reply via email, on many email apps there are three dots down towards the bottom and if you click them that should show you the garbage and you can delete it.

    Lucky 81' F100

Duh! I missed the title. But, how did you get to a diesel-ratio T-19 for a 300 six?

Which truck/engine? The '81 w/the 300? The guys need to know that for sure.
  21. Reverberator? Yes, reverb - short for reverberator. It worked, but sounded weird on hard bumps.
  22. According to the MPC E5TZ 9A486-G will be marked E5TE 9A486-GA & is Motorcraft #CX-1092. And it fits these calibration codes: CALIBRATION PARTS LIST NO. 475 (Calibration No. 5-76J-R05)-8 Cyl. 351 C.I.D. (5.8L) 1985/86 E250(82) - - A/T 1985/86 E350 - - A/T 1985/86 F250 - - C6-0/8500 lb. 23. Learn something every day! (And, with my memory, it might be what I learned yesterday. )
  24. Oops - I forgot that the next step was to put the fuel filler tube & hose on the front tank. No fun, but better than the rear tank. However, part of the problem was in getting the brand new Sepctra Premium FNH122 hose to fit the brand new Spectra Premium tank. Working blind, I knew it wasn't going on as it went on way too easily. Like, it fell on. So I pulled it and tested it on the fuel filler pipe: Yep, way too big. As best I can measure it is 2" instead 1 7/8". And, that's the right part number according to both the Spectra site and Amazon. Luckily I had the old hose, and it is in really good shape. It is on and the new one is going back. And I'll review it on the Amazon site.
  25. My first thought was a spring delay for an audio system. I had one in my '58 Impala and it made neat, strange sounds. But, I don't think that's what that is. It looks more like a heating element. And since you have a diesel I'll guess it was to heat the fuel lines. But I don't think it is factory.
