  1. That's a nice panel, and with Jonathan's tips on Salvaging Rosewood it could be very presentable.
  2. Those are beautiful! And fairly rare, especially in what looks to be perfect condition. And the price is good!
  3. I'm not an expert on determining which is which, but the advert says "1985" and it matches the "medium gray metallic w/o bright bead" that the master parts catalog says an '85 & '6 base bezel should have.
  4. That is a VERY nice bezel and at a VERY cheap price. The burled wood hasn't even started turning purple as it usually does. The only issue I see is the hole in the "pocket" on the right, and while you can easily see it in the pics 'cause there's white behind it, in the truck you won't. But if it bothers you just pop a plug into it.
  5. Metal thresholds were standard. The "bar" is surely the jack handle and it attaches to two spring clips. The handle goes on the driver's side down by the headlight. And that reminds me - I've not added that to Big Blue! Oh yes, I forgot. IIRC, the rear window comes out by pulling the center, lock piece, from the rear and pushing it in. That is an insert into the weatherstripping and pushes it out so it stays in place.
  6. Another nice bezel. But in reverse to what I said in the last one, while this will fit 1980 - 84 trucks, it isn't correct for them. It is correct for '85 & '6. As for the altimeter, it looks neat there, but since that's where I have my AFR meter, I can tell you that reading it will be a pain. If the steering is properly set up the steering wheel will very effectively cover that spot in straight ahead driving, and in curves you need to keep your eyes on the road. I'm sorry I put my meter there.
  7. That's a really nice bezel, and at a reasonable price. Technically, it is "correct" only for 1980 - 84 since in '85 the bezels went to burled wood. But it will certainly fit on an '85 or '86 truck and, IMHO, it will improve the looks. And, to be even more technical, this one is for a "late" 1980 because of where the turn signals and high beam indicators are. But it can be used on an "early" '80 by simply swapping some pins around in the connector to the instrument cluster.
  8. Welcome, Kevin! Nice truck. What part of CA is home? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a city or zip. As for being a newbie to forums, I see you've already figured out how to create a signature. And your pics came in the right way up. So you are doing well. On the truck, I know one of your apparently-many wiring issues is the 4wd indicator as you said you don't have wiring to the transfer case. Was your truck converted from 2wd to 4wd? I ask because the 4wd indicator is an add-on circuit that 2wd trucks don't have. But for problem solving like that you'll want to start a thread in the main section as more people frequent that than do this NMSH section. So that way you'll get more help as more will see it.
  9. Angelo - Sorry. Could you try the test forum here: http://bullnose-enthusiasts-test-forum.4.gabbleforum.org/ That's exactly where we were about 10 days ago but on the new servers. You can post, delete, or do whatever you want as it'll be blown away when we migrate over to it.
  10. I'm glad it worked. I forgot to say that I think there's a square hole in that bracket for a ratchet to fit into so you can tension the belt. I think it is 1/2".
  11. I've even seen problems on a real computer from the slow servers, like pictures with bizarre lines in them. So I'm hoping a lot of things clear up when, not if, we move to the AWS servers.
  12. If by "absolutely the worst times" you mean being 50K stories up on a glass building with a sand storm coming, then I agree with you. Trust me, I was literally holding onto my seat. Ok, so maybe I need to figure out how to put a grab handle on the A-pillar and not rely on exotic gloves. I don't want Janey to fall getting in.
  13. :nabble_head-rotfl-57x22_orig::nabble_head-rotfl-57x22_orig: Better yet, we watched a Mission Impossible the other night and they had gloves that attached them to glass. Maybe a pair of them?

There you go! Thanks, David.
  15. I agree there's no reason to change out the Bullnose wiring that is working. Just interface the EFI system to it. Like the fuel pump connection, which the EEC wants to control and know that it worked. And it would help for the EEC to know when the brakes are on so connect Brake On/Off (BOO) to the Bullnose brake circuit. But in my case, and I suspect yours because of the Explorer's serpentine system, there was the swap to the 3G alternator. That required some changes to the wiring on the passenger's side to accommodate a megafuse, take out the ammeter's shunt, install a relay for the volt meter, etc. And that was made easier by using a mid-90's F-Series PDB with megafuse. However, the later model battery tray got awfully close to the starter relay, so why not use a relay in the PDB to bring in the PMGR starter? And, put the headlight relays in there? Oh, and why not use the remaining relay to power the blower motor? Then there's the driver's side PDB that came with the '96 wiring harness for the EEC-V system. I'm going to do like you said you'll do and strip out everything that isn't needed, like I did for the other PDB. That will slim down the wire bundles dramatically since the lights, HVAC, and many other things are currently in there. In the immortal words of Paul Simon, "Say, ain't we walking down the same street together. On the very same day?”
  16. When you get into the planning stage for your swap you may want to take a look at what I've done. Not that the way I did it is the only or best way, but it appears to work. In this post you can see the wiring diagram I created for the power distribution box I added to Big Blue. And in this post you can see the PDB as well as the later style battery tray I added. And you'll need to interface the later system with the Bullnose wiring, assuming you don't totally rewire your truck. This post shows my plan on how to tie the fuel pump wiring to the ECU. But since I've not done the EFI part of it yet I've not done that. Anyway, there are lots of those kinds of things that you'll run into, and some of them I've already done, some I have plans for, and some I haven't even thought of yet.
  17. George - Thanks a bunch. But Jonathan is already shipping me some grab handles, so if he has broken trim that would make it easier and less expensive. If he doesn't, I'll be back to you. Jonathan - If you have Bullnose trim that would be the best. I say that because someone, and I think it was Shaun, said the other day that the middle hole is in a different place for Bull vs Brick. But if I misunderstood that perhaps I could use a later one - if it has the same shape. And side doesn't matter at all. It is ok if it is cracked at the middle hole. Or if broken completely there if I can glue it back together. I just want to be able to use the screw hole to register the thing properly on the pillar. In fact, if it is broken at the hole then that makes it even easier to fit in the box with the handles. And shipping it with the grab handles would be perfect. If the trim were cut down so I had maybe 6" above and below the middle hole that would suffice. I want to be able to see how much metal I can get in the areas above and below the hole, so need to be able to look in there. Thanks!
  18. Ok, Scott. Thanks. Perhaps the new servers will help.
  19. I'm not in a hurry, Scott. Let's see what others come up with, but yours may be the key.
