  1. Yipes! I think my security system plans and rear bumper may be an even better idea with the price of tailgates!
  2. Bill - I'm not sure I can agree as there were a lot of differences, although I don't know what they were:
  3. I'd not noticed, but the wiper motor changed in January of '82. So this fits from that date of production through '86.
  4. I just ordered the Element 50 and an extra clip. Bought it directly from Element as I couldn't find the clip on Amazon, but had to pay shipping. Don't have a delivery date yet.
  5. Thanks, Scott & Jim. It just wasn't the shade of black I planned. But it'll work. And, by the way, I just ordered the Element 50 w/an extra clip. Don't have a delivery date yet, but I ordered it directly from Element rather than through Amazon as I couldn't find the extra clip there.
  6. https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-500.html Yes, a flux capacitor might be just what I need! As for what I did, I talked to the lady at Contech Enterprises about building the bumper. She seemed interested, asked good questions, and asked for the drawings. I've sent them awa a number of notes, so we'll see what she says. And, I made a filler piece for the radio bezel. Used some plastic I have laying around and milled it down to just fit in the recess on the back side of the bezel. Then I washed it with Dawn and then SEM soap, and scrubbed it with a gray 3M pad, which took the sheen off. A bit of Plastic Prep and some coats of SEM black and it turned out pretty good, although not quite the black I was after. Then I put it in the bezel and tacked it with hot melt glue so I can get it out down the road if I should want to put something else in there. Anyway, I then pulled the XLT emblem off Big Blue's old bezel, trimmed the studs off of it and removed the double-sided tape that was no longer sticky. Put more double-sided tape on, and put it in place. And with the bezel in place I connected the radio up, slid it in, reached up behind and moved the wires out of the way and lined the bracket up, and the radio slid into place with a couple of clicks when the latches snapped in. And, here 'tis:
  7. You have either a carb problem or an AFR gauge problem. There is no way that you should have that lean of a mix at WOT. It really must be down around 11 - 12 to get good power. And I can't believe that the vacuum advance hose could suck that much air to lean it that much. However, it is something to check.
  8. Thanks for the clarification. That was my understanding of what you said.
  9. Jim - I didn't take it that you were saying the chimney extinguisher is the thing to use. But did I miss something?
  10. You are on the map. But I'll let others speak to the tranny question.
  11. I thought that might have been the case. You are good to go.
  12. Randy - Welcome! Glad you joined. Would you like to be on our map - Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu?
  13. Sorry, but you may not have seen the email I just sent you approving your membership and asking you to go to the New Members Start Here folder, read the guidelines, and then start a new thread/topic in that folder to introduce yourself. Before you post elsewhere. Why? Because we keep the guidelines there are we want everyone to have a chance to read them since we WILL hold everyone to them. So please go do that and then you are free to post elsewhere.
  14. That's my worry - get the extinguisher out of sight and have to rummage for it. Which is why I like the corner. om the end of the storage unit. Nothing will be obscuring it from being seen, even when just opening the door. In fact, I don't think you'd have to tilt the seat forward as it looks like it'll be accessible through the opening - something that wouldn't be true of a 5 lb extinguisher. Yes, the plastic latches can be fiddly. I've spent a while getting the one on the boat to latch, and wondered how easily it would come off when it finally did latch. And a 2nd one might be handy, but there's not much room in that corner due to the inverter. I'll see when I get the first one in if it might fit. At least then I'll know.
  15. My door pockets are the carpeted ones with elastic, so the thing wouldn't be seen. While that may seem good, I think it is important for everyone to know where it is. So I like the corner storage better. But I don't want it "buckled" in. I like the snap-in holder that it comes with, although I think I'll add one so it is held towards both ends. That way you can reach in and grab it in the middle. And since I'll have many things stored behind the seat that will be frequently accessed the extinguisher will be seen often. As for the stable, yes it is nice. And he does say something about the Element being from Italy and Ferraris and Lambos having more fires. Kinda like there's a reason the Italians came up with a better fire extinguisher.
  16. Still doing research. Here's another review, and I'll set it to start where he actually tests the thing, bypassing all of the discussion about his previous fire - the ceramic coating of his headers.
  17. Gustavo - Welcome!!! Glad you joined! Would you like to be on our map? (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu.) Just need a city. As for the language, you did wonderfully! I'm in awe of people who speak or type more than one language. I'm struggling with English! What cruise line? My wife and I've been on several. Love the truck. But if it was assembled in December of '84 it should be an '85. They cut over to the next year in about August, so anything after that was usually the next year.
  18. Anyone have an '86 owner's manual to check? Oh wait! There's one on that website I use..... Hmmm, the '86 manual agrees with the '85 manual - 1891 & 2. Guess they are both wrong? Let's see if we can figure out what really was used and I can make a correction in the manuals.
  19. True of '86, Bill, but for the previous years there were two different cab harnesses - with and without ammeter. Ford did away with the idiot lights in '86.
  20. That's cool, Scott. Well done. But I can envision what you are suggesting - a block with a slot the size of the strap, a plate to go on top, and a hole the size of the finished/to-be hole. Plus a bushing to center the strap's smaller hole in the bigger hole. Clamp all that in the vise and drill away. Or, put bolt holes in it so it can be clamped that way and then put the thing in the mill's vise to be able to drill more cleanly.
  21. Here's what the 1985 owner's manual says for bulbs: This is an embedded Microsoft Office PDF, powered by Office. And here's a pic of an 1891 on the left and an 1892 on the right. They sure don't look like yours.
  22. I think you'll like the TrueTrac. Big Blue has one and it works pretty well, although it can be a handful on slippery surfaces. As for another project, just like you I keep telling myself I don't need another. But if I'm silly enough to mention it my wife says something about a hole in the head. I'm not sure, but I'm afraid she's saying she'll put one there.
