  1. Which time? (Bummer! I said we won't go there.) The good/last time it was something like $1200, but included the headliner. They did a really good job on the seats.
  2. Yes, you installed a stiffer spring. Now the mixture will go rich at 7" of vacuum instead of 5" of vacuum. In other words, it will take less throttle to make it go rich. But that's when underway. It doesn't change anything at idle. Nor do the jets or rods. Just the mixture screws. So the foggy garage and burning eyes don't have anything to do with jets, rods, or springs. As for the stumble when "getting on it from cruise", that depends on how quickly you move the throttle. If you move it quickly and significantly then that is likely to be not enough accelerator pump. If you are moving it slowly then that could be the springs, rods, or jets.
  3. Oh, I understand. The springs that step the metering rods up under low vacuum. So, did you install lighter springs?
  4. Drove Big Blue to the lake today to take the boat out with the grandkids. Interesting day with the boat. The ignition switch broke last year at the end of the season, so I bought another one and took it out to put on. But both batteries were dead and by the time I got the charger on and the engine started the rest of the family was there. Then I started the engine and discovered a coolant leak - the plastic "distribution housing" had cracked, but not so badly that we couldn't take it out for the day. Just had to run the bilge pump periodically as there seemed to be plenty of coolant to be had. Then when I drove home the factory temp gauge on Big Blue went to full HOT. But the aftermarket showed 190 degrees, so it is either the wiring or the ICVR. Should be an easy fix.
  5. What is the "setup spring" in the carb?
  6. Looks great! Can't wait for the dyno numbers.
  7. Those are the seats I have had reupholstered for Dad's truck. (Twice, but we won't go there.) My guy replaced the foam, but I don't know how he did it.
  8. Yes, the paint chart is less than 100% accurate. See mine here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/exterior-paint-codes.html.
  9. Good job, David! I’m at the water park with the twins thinking “I’ve got a paint chart at home that I need to scan in and put on the website.” But you found one and now I can go back to watching the grands. 🤪
  10. I did notice - it doesn't. Looks like it was cut very well exactly 24 hours ago. It had even been trimmed and all of the trimmings blown out into the yard. Janey has a crew trimming the shrubs in front, and when came to set the job up they asked if we needed them to mow the lawn. She said "No, my husband has a brand new mower and he will do it." The hazards of having the right equipment.
  11. WHIDTMTT? Used it, Big Blue, to move the trailer back under the car port. No muss, no fuss, just putt putt in granny 4lo w/the hubs locked and it pushes, using the front-mounted receiver, the trailer right into position.
  12. Well done. And tomorrow we will probably be able to find that via the search engines for the forum and website. And in a few days via a Google search. 😉
  13. Looks like something that needs a writeup and its own page on the website.
  14. Jim - Glad that is working for you. Good luck.
  15. Jim - Good looking truck! Glad you got the Insert Image thing to work. As for wiring, I don't have a pic, but how about the schematic: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/charge--power-distribution.html. If that doesn't work I could take a pic of Big Blue's wiring tomorrow.
  16. Florida is wet and windy - or at least it was for the week we were there. And the last day the rain was coming down sideways, trying to take our rent car off the highway. Glad to be home to sunshine and heat.
  17. Randy - You should block off the top of the carb before having the smoke blown in. Otherwise there's no pressure and it'll come out the point of least resistance - the carb. Ray - Good tip. But, you didn't say the tank was empty - until right at the end. And I was wondering how you did that with the straps off. Anyway, good tip. As for the other vehicles, you are making progress. Well done!
  18. Yes, it looks like someone is bidding it up. But, it is still a nice truck for the price.
  19. Bill - That's the plan. I hope it works.
  20. How do you correct the sender? My aft one is actually pretty good, The front gets to a half tank and makes a beeline for E. Mine sounds like Darth. There is no correction to/for the sender. They have a potentiometer (wire-wound resistor) built in that frequently gets an open. So when the slider gets to that point the gauge goes to zero. There's really no fix to that short of at least replacing the potentiometer if not the whole sending unit. Bill - I was afraid of that.
  21. That's quite a list. I like to have lists as well since it lets me see the progress I've made as well as gets/keeps me focused. But, I'm using a combination of Evernote and OneNote to do my to-do lists as that gives me check boxes with which I can keep track of my progress. It is so satisfying to check things off.
