  1. Yeah, I mentally raised one eyebrow in a Spock-like fashion when I saw you guys, you just don't see that in everyday life anymore. ;) That was fun, thank you for having me, Gary! I got to meet "the usual" awa Scott/kramttocs & Matthew/Dorsai, that was cool. :) The electronic thermostat/HVAC control fritzed out in my SHO, it thought it was -33 degrees outside and wanted to turn on the heater. But I nevertheless made it home by 6:30 MDT, it's rare that I make it home and it's still light outside. ;) I didn't take a single picture using my own phone. :( Thanks for coming, Chris. And I can just see you raising the one eyebrow. Glad you made it home safely and in the daylight. How was Ralston? Nine-Mile Road?
  2. That makes sense! Now it fits together!!! And it was FUNNY! Some place Big Blue has to sport that Beware of Florida Man sign. Somewhere!
  3. Hello, Greg! Welcome! Glad you found us. We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and I'd be happy to add you if I had a town. And, by the way, there's a member of the forum headed to 'Bama as I type, having left my house here in Okiehoma at 5:30 this morning headed to Sheffield. So you aren't alone. A husband/wife project. I like it! That's going to be fun. I hope you'll start a thread in the main section about your truck, post some pictures, and tell us what you are doing to/with it.
  4. I was a bit reluctant to actually say which URL's I was considering for fear someone would take them, but you nailed them. Does anyone have a preference? As for Nabble, I haven't found a migration tool to anything from Nabble. But maybe you can? W/o a way to migrate I can't see changing. But going phpBB on Wordpress might be nice if we could keep our current content.
  5. Matthew - Glad things are going well. Hope they continue that way. Ron - It is comforting to know the backup module is right there, ready to be plugged in. The hardest part is getting the plugs apart.
  6. Travel safely, Matthew. Sure was good to meet you after, as you said, 7 years of knowing each other on forums. Hope the return trip is completely uneventful and that you don't have more of the overheating problem.
  7. Wow! You've done a LOT of work! It is really taking shape. I'd never thought of new vinyl on a door panel, or many of the other things you've done. Can't wait for it to be completed and hear the "I LOVE IT!!!" report.
  8. Welcome! Glad you found us, and we can help. Where's home? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and I'd be happy to add you to it. Who knows, maybe you could leave it with one of us! Start a thread in the main section about Frank and tell us about him. Show us some pics so we believe he exists? And tell us how he got his name. I'm reminded of Cars and the combine that comes after Rusty and Lightning.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can remove the levers on the vacuum part. I took one apart, cleaned it, lubed it, and put it back together - and it worked. I think I drilled and tapped the plastic that I'd ground off for some small machine screw like a 4-40 or 6-32.
  10. Sorry it has taken so long to get back, but we've had a houseful of Bullnose folks. Anyway, thanks for the ideas and the offer. I'm going to try to work with Weebly on the issues this week, but if that doesn't go well then I think I'd like to take you up on the offer to test Wordpress. From what I've read the migration tool takes the backup I download and converts to Wordpress. Then that is uploaded to a hosting service and you have to go in and see what it looks like. If we could do that on yours that would make it much easier to find out if it is going to work. Then if it does I can set up an account and do the migration to that. I'm also thinking about getting a new domain name that is more descriptive of what we are doing than Gary's Garagemahal. And this would seem to be the time to make that happen. Let the Garagemahal site work as we get the new one up and tweaked, and then redirect the URLs to the new one. Thoughts?
  11. Thanks guys. Even the wife likes the red and said it again when she came out to the garage to see how I was doing. Only thing I don't like about it is it is mostly clear with a red tint. I used almost a gallon just on the 2 side and the front panels. Think I need 3 more qt, to do the fenders, tail gate & running boards. I hope that will all happen when I get back next weekend. Dave ---- Excellent progress, Dave!!!
  12. Yes, the pickup in the dizzy can be replaced. But it may be almost as cheap, and much easier, to put a remanufactured distributor in. If you do the latter do as Steve said and mark the dizzy and block and then transfer the mark on the old dizzy to the new dizzy. And mark on the dizzy you take out where the rotor is pointing before you pull it. When you go back in with the dizzy you'll have to start several degrees CCW because as the dizzy goes down the angled gears mesh and rotate the rotor. And you want to end up with the rotor pointing right were it did and the distributor going back where the other one was, mark to mark. And the reason it is easier to go with a new/reman'd dizzy is that getting the pickup out can be fiddly. The reluctor, the gear-shaped wheel, has to come out and to get it out you have to pry up on it, gently, from two sides at the same time. And you don't want to break it. Plus, as you bring it up there's a roll pin that is in a slot to keep the reluctor located on the shaft, and it is easy to drop the roll pin in the dizzy. Once the reluctor is out the pickup can come out and the new one put in. Then put the reluctor back, with the roll pin in to locate it.
  13. It was kind of funny. Chris/ctubutis came in not too long after the guys left on the MPG run and said "I met three red Bullnose trucks on OK 20 a few miles west of here and thought 'That has to be something associated with Gary.'" Sure enough. Paul was leading and Matthew and David were following. Paul said with his gear ratio the speed he was running, about 67 MPH according to David, was below his sweet spot. David said the speed was above his sweet spot. And Matthew was just having fun. But it sure was fun seeing three red Bullnose trucks running in a pack.
  14. Fortunately the fish was only on the Cod. Still no clue who the joker is. And judging by Google Maps the address may be fictitious. Think I'm gonna have to drive over there and see.
  15. Morning! Y'all been getting some work done. New tires, clean parts. I'm jealous. As for WHYDTYTT, nada as the day is still quite young. But hopefully after church I'll get it unloaded from the show and settle in for the afternoon/evening and post some pics from the show.
  16. Got a card in the mail today, as shown below: And inside, in addition to a cute Halloween Cod, was this. Very cute! Anyone want to 'fess up?
  17. David's fuel consumption was 1.935 gallons, which equates to 21.8 MPG using his odometer, and 22.5 MPG using Google's distance.
  18. Or you can stop by a certain garage in Skiatook and get fixed up with the newfangled Duraspark IV dual-module ignition system - patent pending, I’m sure. I'll pass it on to David that he's slacking. He should be out here on the porch in a few minutes. As for being the real deal, I'm not sure about that. But I suspect there will be pictures today. And I like that ignition module mount. Hope it solves the problem.
  19. Scott - I hadn't seen that controller, shown below. But that would be a good place to mount the dial and LED. Good idea.
  20. Thanks. I need to read up on how to use Wordpress, meaning how to create and edit pages. But, I've coded machine language, assembler, Fortran, Basic, and snippets of HTML, so should be able to grasp it somehow. And I need to find a host site, but there seem to be scads of those. Any recommendations?
  21. Hoyt. Think I had a fraternity brother at KSU from there, but don't remember who that was. I don't have a copy of the '85 Accessories catalog on the site, but do have the '86: Documentation/Literature/1986 Literature/1986 Accessories Catalog.
  22. Thanks. It is good to hear for someone that has been around it. All I know is what I read about it. But having said that, Wordpress does seem to have a whole lot more users than Weebly, which means something.
  23. I like it! And I agree with Scott - it is your truck, and you'll love the color. Can't wait to see it all together.
  24. Jonathan - The front sway bar on Dad's truck bolts to that crossmember.
