  1. OK, referring to manuals that came with the stock, some pictures I took during installation and bit of memory, here is this info: Mirror/monitor and cameras are sold separately. My devices: - Mirror/monitor = TE-RM7 (1280x480) - License plate camera = TE-BPTC (720x480) Mirror-monitor: - Needs 12V (+) power and ground (-) - Linked to each camera via RCA yellow jack - Linked to each camera trigger (in my case, trigger = reverse switch) Camera: - Needs 12V (+) power (in my case, reverse lights wire) - Needs ground (-) - Linked to mirror/monitor via RCA yellow jack So, in my case, when transmission is put in reverse, the mirror/monitor turns "on" (via the reverse switch trigger) and my reverse cam turns "on" too (via the reverse lights (+) wire). I suppose that, if you install a front camera, you should be able to use the same 12V positive trigger to turn "on" the camera and the mirror/monitor at same time. See picture of my email to support guy. Answer is short, he suggests to use same model of camera for front use. Not sure... What about the "mirrored" image behaviour?   2. Gary, not forgetting you! Last weekend, had to prepare for that storm (complete tractor prep, chains, blower, etc). I'll come back with more info about my mirror/cam setup. For now, I verified the monitor size and can confirm that the cam image is 7" wide, mirror is about 9 1/2" in its wider.
  3. Well, this is what we call a crash: Today, end of afternoon (16:00), we'll reach 50°F (10°C). At 03:00, less than twelve hours later, gonna be 1°F (-10°). What a drop!
  4. This is the mirror/camera I installed on Big Brother. Fortunately, the wire length was just enough for this "long" Crew Cab run. Very usefull for my needs, but the image quality is not as clear as my other "modern" vehicles, when comparing (2018 Chevy Volt and 2019 GMC Terrain). Not sure if it depends of my mirror/monitor or camera choices. I'll come back with more precise info (number of possible cameras, mirror dimensions, camera image actual size, etc):
  5. Mirror: Big difference for me, when hooking a trailer: No more front-rear-front "multiple round trips", just in order to aline this long truck right on the ball. I know I could hook 2-3 more cams on this system, but (for now) I am satisfied whit this HUGE improvement. Snow: Without trailer, it can front up to 8-9" snow without trouble (good tires of course). More than that, it can tend to stall, as if swimming in soap. And BigBro is like his driver, swims as an iron.
  6. Up to 4-5 inches of fresh snow, 4-L drive is unbeatable, a big tractor. You could get off the truck and it continues to move forward on idle. This is the mirror/camera I installed. The wire length was enough for the run:
  7. Today was the "manure" day! So BigBro had to wake up and do a little farm task, pull the trailer up hill. First backup camera real use, SOOOO NIIIIICE! It was snowy today, beautiful! «It's-beginning-to-look-a-lot-like-Christ-mas!»

  11. Welcome Gary! LOOOL! Have to admit shamefully , looking at your post, I first tought «mmm... all his pictures are flipped, strange, maybe similar bug as when mine appear upside down», when I suddenly remembered that all of us are driving the wrong side, exepting couple of old GB 🇬🇧 colonies!
  12. More seriously, when planning a comfortable workspace, do not neglect the width. People tend to make their shops enough long but too narrow, missing space to circulate along the vehicle (and mirrors), opened doors, etc.
  13. Thanks! Next weekend, I'll read with great care and pay attention to my carb/choke adjustments and behaviours. There is no reason I cannot adjust and fine-tune it, since it runs very smoothly when hot.
  14. Wow! Well, even if you sell the Airstream, not enough place for Esperenza, Eunice and Eylza (I hope I am right about the names of your 3 Musketeers). Missing space, big problem!
  15. Completely agree! I am curious about the "multiple pedal depress" advice. I suppose it is about a "slow" movement, since the goal is to «clip» the choke flap closed... If "pumping" vigorously, won't it open de flap immediately after the second shot? If the pedal is depressed multiple times, slowly, is it certain that the choke will remain fully closed after the last shot? On my side, Big Brother has the following starting behaviour: 1- Depress pedal completely and release; 2- Start the engine; 3- Motor starts immediately... but after 2-3 seconds running, RPM drops and it stalls. 4- Redo step 1. 5- This time, motor starts and continue as expected. But sometimes, it doesn't run smoothly and seems to have a "slightly" opened choke flap. 6- Choke often omit to disengage when the motor builds its heat, so I have to give a fast shot to the pedal, to slow down the RPM. Sometimes a second time after couple of minutes, to drop to the "normal" idle speed. The bad idea I tried was, at step 3, to slightly pump the pedal in order to "help" the motor stay fuelled and avoid a stall: Yep, it doesn't stall, but I have to stay in the vehicle to keep it running, since the choke seems now to be slightly opened. I would be very happy to find a starting sequence (and/or an adjustment) that enables Big Brother to start as... well let's admit... a fuel injected one.

  17. Thanks Gary, Well, you're certainly right. Each time we see an original 350 with dog dish caps, it is not 4x4. Good news for me, better with the "heavy duty" kit! Anyway, I bought a Holesaw with correct diameter, and I will modify the front caps I found. I like the "dog dish" vintage look. We'll see the result.
  18. On my side, since we have horses, my barn acts as a garage shop... Horses boxes building side is heated, water, tool bench, but this part of the building is not insulated nor heated. So, it forces me to take a break during winter time about mechanics and other truck stuff, no choice other than go enjoy skiing! For Big Brother storage (and family's canoes rack, and wife's garden tools, so she's happy), I built an extension to the barn (kind of carport) and installed an old used garage door. I had not a big budget. Lighted, but not heated, weather and sun protected, and well ventilated. Hope this will keep Big Brother nice.

  20. Hi people! I am looking to finalize BigBrother's restoration with dog dish hub caps. I found some 12" diameter, since it is a 1 ton truck. Problem comes with the center hole in the front hub caps: All the 12" used ones I found are 3 3/4" diameter, since BigBrother requires 4 1/4" approximately, in order to fit its exterior axle. Even LMC sells 3 3/4" ones. I am preparing to modify the ones I already got, I suspect it will be a delicate job... Would prefer to buy the good ones. Any suggestions? Is my front 4x4 axle so special? How to identify it? Thanks!

  22. Hi Blake and Lincoln! Nice trucks! Each of these old guys could have towed the "youngest" one in front of the picture. Who is who? I reply to the son: You drive school and are 14 years old? Wow! Here, need to be 16 in order to obtain a «learner's licence», which gives you access to the road network provided you are accompanied by a driving school instructor or an accompanying driver. The younger you can expect to drive alone is 17. I wish you good trip, in your truck and in life, take care!
  23. I'll do the same for BigBrother. For now, the Saddle color ones seem to be back ordered, and I would prefer not to paint a generic black one. In the meantime, I used putty, paint and speaker oval grill to "revamp" a little bit my old one.
