Haha well your truck runs so I'd say that's a lot in your favor!

And at heart, mine will always be a two tone desert tan truck

Thanks! I am really happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to seeing all the brown of the hood.

The painter drilled the hole in the cowl cover for the wiper motor top bolt so it will get painted and installed next.

I can't recall in what order I removed it- can the antenna wire be installed after all that fairly easily? So if I wait until I get it back at my place can I snake it through the firewall and up?

I don't know, but it would seem like you could push a wire through the firewall from inside the cab, snag a string dangled through the antenna hole, and then pull the antenna lead through.  I think.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I've got a plastic fish from a previous job of running network wires somewhere around here...

Even better than a wire.  A plastic fish won't scratch the paint.

Thanks guys. Really happy with how it's turning out. Spent the morning at the body shop checking over the cowl, installing the wiper motor/arms with new bushings on them, installing the grommets, and some other odds and ends. Couldn't get around to installing the hood hinges as I ran out of stainless washers that I'd polished so had to run and get some more before going to a family dinner.

Spent a lot of last night polishing stainless washers for the hood hinges. Today I wasn't able to get away from work so didn't have much time at the body shop but we did some more aligning on the cowl and I installed the hood hinges.
Nothing crazy but did want to mention what I feel is a decent modification for no more effort or cost involved.

On the spring hinge part that bolts to the inner fender, the bolt has a flat shoulder for the hinge to pivot on. I don't like the idea of the hinge face being metal on metal and the shoulder is a little wider than the hinge thickness so I went to the hardware store and picked up a mylar washer that was a nice fit over the shoulder. I also picked up some smaller ones that fit over the threaded part to place a little space between the hinge backside and the (literal) fender washer.

Since I don't have any photos yet it is:

Bolt head- mylar- hinge - two smaller mylar washers (used two to gain a little more thickness)- fender washer- fender.

Hopefully hood will go on tomorrow.

I agree that the original design left a bit to be desired as it is way too easy for those parts to hit.  So I like your mod.  Looking forward to the pics thereof.

Oh now that is nice! Love it.

Seeing that fresh paint on your truck is about as exciting as it gets!

I found something that gives me some hope. It's white though... just need to find a black overlay. I had white stuff in my 35th ann. mustang, but my truck has a black and tan interior (granted its painted white) not sure how I feel about white gauges, I think it would look off.

Interesting!  But since the outfit is called White Gauges I'm not sure they'll have black ones.

Chris/ctubutis has white gauges on his truck if I remember correctly.  Perhaps you'll want to have him post pics?

Here's some of the info from their eBay advert:

Re: The Camano Experience

I went to their website and sent them an email along the lines of " I know you do white stuff but..." hopefully maybe... possibly they have a line on or contact that does black.

In black that might be a valid option. White would be very dependent on the rest of the interior and I have a hard time picturing it looking good with either woodgrain option but maybe.

Sorry, haven't been able to do hardly anything on the truck lately and admittedly forgot about dissecting the spare hvac controls like promised. I'll try to correct that shortly.

Re: The Camano Experience

OK so heads up.... they can do black but there is a $30 up charge. Probably because they have to "retool" or special order material for a one off. Maybe if enough guys request black they will make it a standard fare. Probably should create a post for this to bring awareness.
