That's a really good look!  I'm not sure I'd go white with the wheels as I'm liking them the way the are.

glad you like them ...i'm on the fence could go either way...it is his truck, and he likes them but also liked the white.....he told me last night that wheel color is least of the problems right now and he is focusing on what to do about carb and bed next.....

body shop deal this week is timing and cost.....my buddy is doing it for "free"

"free" as in i had a bunch of 3rd gen dodge parts Seth needed so we traded...worked out for every body, and i mad space in my barn for more stuff..lol

win win win

still not sure what direction to steer boy with carb....

What's the plan for that engine?
I thought you were going to swap the 300 in?

Yes, that is a win for everyone.

On the carb, what are the plans for the truck's usage?  And are we still talking about the 255 or the 300?

If the 255, my thinking is that a Holley or similar carb is great for going fast, but an Edelbrock is better for daily driving.  I know that's not a popular position, but it reflects my experience.

I imagine the 255 is going to need all the help it can get to turn those bigger meats.
If I think of the difference between a 302 and 351... then think about cutting that much off again, and increasing the tires leverage and mass....

While maybe good for a new driver it does beg the question.
But as a Miata owner, Gary, you know it's a lot more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

on carb front...

Motor: 255 v8

Intended Usage:  safe and reliable daily driver (hopefully he passes road test February 22 lol)
* do not want to spend a lot of money on this motor, it will be swapped out for the 300 I-6 we already have or if the right 302 shows up....most likely early fall or winter of 2021 *

Does not need to go fast or even performance...reliable is key at this point in time

Unfortunately, there's nothing in the software to upload video to the forum.

Gary did an experiment linking video from his cloud (OneDrive I believe) and it took a couple of clicks to get it to play.

How about one of the Chinese 2150 knockoff's?
They're all over for well under $100, in a few venturi sizes.

There was some discussion about these but I lost interest when Rick started touting expensive rebuilt Autolite 2100's

What's on there now, and what's wrong with it?

I can't think of a more basic and reliable V-8 carb than the 2100/2150.

Re: Project Ferdinand

that vv carb everybody hates....i think the accelerator pump is bad (again talking to my more knowledgeable friends)...i know nothing when it comes to carbs other than that it meters air and fuel....lol

step on the gas pedal she boggs and wants to stall, lift a bit shes good and ease back into it and all is right in the world as you row through the gears..

also if truck sits for a few days need to prime the carb with a little fuel to get her started...

That being the case I'd go with a Motorcraft 2100 or 2150.  They should be a direct bolt-on.

The 2100 was Autolite Gary.
The Motorcraft 2150 has the same annular boosters but (I think) emulsion tubes.

*all I really know is that it has some metering advantage.

The 1.06" venturi is going to be fine with that displacement.
It should be about 300 CFM.

Bill could probably offer the best advice

I don't know if anyone here has tried the Chinese 2150, but the Chinese YF's work fine.  So I'd try one of their 2150's.

No personal experience with this one.
I will say these import carbs need to be flushed of packing oil if that's what the Chinglish instructions say to do.

Just don't use carb or brake cleaner to flush it out unless you take it apart.  As Jim knows, there are parts in there that don't like the cleaner fluids.
