I really dont remember, back some years ago when the parts truck was running the roads i did a back brake job on it, once it became a parts truck and money got tight, Brutus needed a back brake job so we just pulled everything off the parts truck but for both sets of brakes, hardware, wheel cylinders and drums are the same, just a slightly larger shoe, and i mean slightly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Funny thing. like i said above, i really dont remember if i had the larger ones or the ones i have now, but for a long long time Brutus just didn't have good brakes. Brakes is not our strong suit, but i had a friend do it for me, he is the one who took the brakes off the parts truck and put them on Brutus. He didn't do a very good job and Brutus still didn't have good brakes. Once we finally got it done correctly, he stops like he did when new. Never really could figure out the reason the 2 different sizes that are offered on our trucks is less then 1/8th of an inch different, using the same hardware, cylinders and drums. only difference i see is the lining of 1 shoe is larger area Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My parts truck (long bed style side) had the smaller brakes and 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern power brakes. Again, is some times good to hoard. I have a brand new set of drums in the shed. When i did the brake job on the parts truck, on the way home, the transmission went out and the truck was parked funny thing, it wasn't until i joind you guys did i find out that i did in fact have a transmission that would have worked, although it did work out for the best as my old truck is what was able to get Brutus back running the roads again. When the trans went out, ( mazda 5 speed ) was about the time i started with the forums. I think i mentioned this a while ago in a post about why i like the Bullnose forum so much, and i think it was Gary that told me the trans would bolt up. The original question was I have an 88 f150 with a 300. I have a c4 trans from a 351M, and a FMX from a 302. Will any of them bolt up to my engine. All my responses were " I would put an aod" it wasn't until years later Nick stumbled on the bullnose forum. he told me i found this really cool forum that i think you will like. I told him i'd look into it, and i never did. I had way to many hastles on many forums and was thinking, this isn't going to be any different. Some time later i decided to just go ahead and look. Kevin6980 Posted October 31, 2023 Share Posted October 31, 2023 The only thing about this spacer is I am thinking it won’t cover the EGR port in the intake manifold. That’s why the Ford one has the “ear” on non-EGR applications. It’s not pretty, but on one of my engines I tapped the hole and put an Allen head pipe plug sealed with silicone.
