  1. Haha...I forgot about spelling. There's a whole bunch of spelling we've taken from the Brits as well. In Canada the defaults are colour, harbour, litre, centre, etc. I think we also spell grey instead of gray (US?). An interesting spelling (and pronunciation) that did not carry over from the Brits is aluminium. In Canada we use the American version aluminum. It's all kinda weird Gary...lol, but we're used to our hybrid ways up here.
  2. Gary, yes, exactly that...sort of a blend. We've hung on to some British things...we do say Zed and instead of Zee like you guys do, and some Canadians use the British term for vacation and call it going on their holidays. I call it vacation, but whatever...I can understand both...lol. I know there are others that I can't think of at the moment, but the Zee and Zed would be a very common one.
  3. I've never had them side by side to compare, but I do like them both. I actually had fish and chips again tonight, but from a little take out shop just down the road from me. That's it, I've had my fill until 2021.
  4. Hey Shaun, The truck was originally red, so I think all the black was a cover-up job at some point and time. I hope to have it home this week so I'll find out more as I clean it up.
  5. Gary, Here in NS it's usually Haddock. Water is too warm here for Cod. Newfoundland however...all Cod, always. I don't think they'll even eat Haddock...lol.
  6. I often buy the Haynes manuals for my old stuff. I find the manuals really handy for stuff like fluid capacities and specs. I do find them fairly useless otherwise...lol, but for a quick reference on the basics they're handy.
  7. Oh man that seems like a steal to me...if it is as decent as it looks in the pics. Finding a Bronco in stock trim that isn't full of holes would be a rare find just about anywhere east of southern Oregon...lol.
  8. I probably can't answer the question, but I think the main page is fine. Gary can move it later if need be.
  9. Love those flush mounted hooks in the stake pockets...and that spacious shop...
  10. Your truck is almost the same as the one on the cover of the 1986 Brochure! Cool. Welcome aboard. http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/1986-literature.html
  11. Ha! First thought I had as well! I don't feel small very often, but I certainly do around guys that are 6ft 9...lol. Welcome aboard new chick. This is the place to be for Bullnose truck info.
  12. You guys had me craving fish and chips after all this seafood talk the other day...lol. As I said, I don't eat it all that often, but it sure is good when I do. This was in a small restaurant in a local hotel. "Some good" as we say around here. Here's a picture of the donor truck that will be turned into a Bullnose. I just stopped by and paid for it last night and will likely have it picked up next week. Like everything else around here, it's a rust bucket, but I'm OK with that. I still have almost a full gallon of Ospho and lots of wire wheels and flapper disks (and wire for the Mig). The good news...for me.. It's a factory 5.0L 5spd truck. I like that. Short wheelbase means I don't have to shorten it. Front and rear factory swaybars are nice (don't have to hunt for them) 3.55 geared diffs. I'll be running 31's, so I think the 3.55 gears will be a great match up.
  13. Step drills are cheap at Horrid Fate. You don't need a $60 Uni-bit for four holes Mrs. Rembrant and I made a little roadtrip in the old Blue Mule yesterday afternoon. With all of the car shows cancelled due to Covid this year, all that is really left to do is attend the weekly cruise-ins. There is a big one here in the city every Thursday night, but there's a second one at a Market on Friday nights about 75-80 miles away. So...she never comes with me in the old truck...lol, so this was a special trip. Car shows are not her thing, and that's fine...but she does like farm markets and shopping along the way. She is a great traveler though, and we are one of those couples that don't talk very much while driving. She reads magazines and files her nails and toes...lol, and I listen to my podcasts. Anyway, first stop along the way was to drop by and pay for this old shitbox F150 I bought as a donor for my Bullnose Flareside build. We then stopped by a place called Stanfields which is a local clothing factory that's been around for 150 years or more. Wife wanted to hit the outlet store. They've been making stuff like underwear forever, and in fact at 48 years old this brand is all I've ever worn my entire life! Had to snap a pic...but this is just one end of the old brick factory. We then swung by to see an RV for sale that the Mrs. found online...newer and nicer than ours...lol. This will be another story, but we stuck ours up for sale last night for a high price to see if anything shakes loose. More on that later. Then we hit the market! We had supper indoors and then I hit the lawn with the old truck and Mrs. went shopping inside (fresh corn on the cob this evening!). This is about the most you'll see of her...lol, a bit camera shy. It's a nice size little gathering for a Friday night. They've had upwards of 150 cars, but I heard this morning that the count was about 130 last night. We didn't stay long and there more coming in as we left.
  14. That's a good question. I'd have to check it to be sure, but I'd say around 1750 RPM. Wife and I put a couple hundred miles on the truck today but I was mostly running at almost 70 MPH, and at that speed my tach is reading only 2000 RPM. I have to drive a good 10 miles at 45-50 MPH to get from where I live to the highway, and if I recall correctly at that speed it's usually around 1500 RPM in 5th, or 2000 RPM in 4th. My truck is almost geared too tall, but I like the way it is.
  15. Hey Pete, Do you still have the Ranger or is it gone?
  16. Rick, My MPG is about the same (17.5), which makes sense given how closely matched our 5.0/302's are. Of course they're not identical...but I'd say based on our MPG that they perform very similarly at cruise RPM with similar weight swb trucks. I'd love to try one of those Summit M2008 500 CFM carbs, but I have my Holley working so nicely now I don't want to even touch anything. I have an AFR gauge, so I know where my set-up is running (Usually around 14:1 on the highway, sometimes a little lower), and my plugs are clean as a whistle. When I take them out of the heads, they look like I just took them out of the box. Comparisons are tough as lots of other things come into account...local climate and temps, road surface, fuel quality, etc. I know if I ditched my fat 275/60/15 tires for something more stock in size that I'd see an improvement in MPG. Anyway, I know my carb can be tuned even finer, and my AFR numbers dialed in for even better mileage, but I'm too lazy to do it, and it's working so well where it is now I don't want to bother with it anyway. I may swap in EFI someday, but as it stands now it is not on my radar.
  17. I would say that getting an 8-10 MPG increase over a carb means that the carbed system was working very poorly in the first place. I'll drive to Texas tomorrow if somebody guarantees that I'll see an 8-10 MPG increase in swapping my 600CFM Holley for a Sniper EFI. I'm not saying that EFI isn't superior...clearly it is, but lets not get carried away with the claims here. You're talking 30% to 50+% improvements in efficiency in switching to a throttle body EFI system.
  18. Rick, I bought one of these Motorcraft modules and it made my truck really hard to start. I didn't physically check the timing with it, but I assume that it did not have the retard on start feature. I swapped my old 1984 factory box back on the truck and it went back to starting like it's EFI. The Motorcraft module is probably fine if you're running stock ignition advance, but mine is way up around 16deg. Once it was running the Motorcraft module performed just fine, but starting was an issue. The only reason I bought the thing was to clean up my engine bay. My original DSII module was working fine, it's just that it was getting really crusty on the underside and the epoxy is starting to separate from the case. Live and learn as they say. I'm going to leave the original installed now. I have about 4 spares now anyway...lol.
  19. Very nice truck. Looks like one you can just get in and go.
  20. My ‘84 is still running the original 1G 40 amp alternator and it seems to work fine for me. I don’t notice any issues. I mean all it really runs is the Duraspark and the radio and occasionally the marker lights and signals. I know the 3G is the defacto standard for upgrading so maybe I’ll do it one day, but a new 1G would probably be fine for my old truck as think somebody mentioned previously that you can’t even get the 40 amp units anymore so I’d end up with a 60 or 65 amp unit which would be fine.
  21. Yes, side tank in shortbeds is 16 gallon. Yes, I might do a Dave in reverse...lol.
  22. Gary, That reminds me. Can you make new fuel lines for the factory EFI systems? This '95 has a rear tank only (which seems kind of odd to me), but they did come that way apparently, and I'd be more content to have a factory side tank in the stock location.
  23. We caught some Bass in the lake on Saturday, just for fun though. Tossed them back in. I love seafood, but don't eat it all that often really. I like mussels, but rarely eat them. I like my fish and chips, or pan fried haddock...scallops, or clams mostly. Lobster every now and then. If you like seafood, the Maritimes is a great place to be for sure. There are fish trucks on the side of the road selling fresh all the time. I drive by them every day. Too bad for me my wife doesn't eat the stuff...lol. There's a fish and chip truck one mile down the road from me. You're making me want some now, so I'll have to grab some this week while I'm off.
  24. Gary. You are right on all counts. And the whole point is to keep me busy...more so in the winter, but just busy in general. You know, idle hands and all that...because god knows that the last thing I really need is another truck...lol. Yes...so there are a few things that drive my plans, but the Bullnose clip swap first and foremost is to put the Bullnose parts somewhere. I have them stored in the warehouse at my work, and I can't leave them there forever. It would be easier (in my own mind) to install the Bullnose parts and get rid of the '95 front clip asap. Same thing with the '95 Styleside bed. I may just cut the bed up and re-purpose the Styleside floor in the new Flareside bed. Scrap the quarters, sell the tailgate, and save the floor. Maybe. I'm intrigued by the 300/6, and would love to try it, but getting it in the truck and ready to run is going to have to be a longer term project, and maybe the roller 5.0L will be too nice to take out...I don't know. I do like my 5.0, and the 5spd with the 3.55 gears might make it a much nicer truck to drive. Right now I want to keep it mobile, so I'm not ditching the EFI 5.0L until I'm ready to carb/DSII swap it, or to install the 300/6. Maybe once I learn more about how the 5.0L EFI is wired, maybe I can figure out how to run it in the Bullnose cab. Again, maybe...lol.
  25. LOL...ya... So we did go away in the RV this past weekend and Mrs. Rembrant ended up getting ill, so we cancelled a trip to Cape Breton (Supposed to be there right now, actually). She blamed it on heat stroke, but I blame it on having too many beer (and then eating things that are usually off limits under normal judgement...lol). Roger on the speedo drive. Understood. luckily, the guy I'm buying the truck from also has a couple others there that he is parting out...and 89 and a 90 I believe, both 4x4, so they should have the t-cases I need.
