  1. No clamps in mine, no. I thought about adding some in this new bed I'm building, but I probably won't be hauling anything with it anyway...lol.
  2. Yes sir, exactly the same, paint code "3P" Medium Blue Metallic (1982-1984 only). My truck is all faded and parts of it have been touched up so it looks nothing like the original color. I saved this picture below...can't remember where I got it now, but as far as I know, that is what the medium blue is supposed to look like. Not my truck...just a picture saved from a forum somewhere.
  3. Yeah, its a Hoss. I didnt see it before because its shrouded. I have 4 or five dead ended plugs there. One was going to the emissions computer thingy box doodad. One is that yellow wire. Im not sure what the other were. I didnt take a picture. Hey Ray, I see somebody up here in Canada has some 300/6 intake and exhaust goodies for sale: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1427888065&siteLocale=en_CA&requestSource=b Asking $500 CDN (Approx $375 USD). Not a bad deal if one was looking for all of this stuff. No idea what the shipping would be or even if the seller will ship...but would likely be in the $75 range.
  4. Can you put it back where it was? Adjust the carb to where it was and adjust the timing back to where it was? Forget about your current settings. Adjust the screws back out to where they were and turn the distributor back to where it was, will it start and run OK again?
  5. Hi Pete, Thanks for the heads up. So far I've only ground down the weld beads on the inside of the extension panels where they will not be visible, and the flap disk seemed to work OK. It touched nothing but the bead until it was flush. I'm going to be a little more careful on the visible welds on the outside. The guy I was talking to at the bodyshop yesterday said he had a tool to make fake spot weld dimples if I wanted to go that far, but I think that would be too extreme for me...this thing is just supposed to be a fun driver, not a show truck;).
  6. Ha! Gary...my enthusiasm is wearing thin...lol, but I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And this is just the darn bed...this truck still needs cab work, new fenders, etc... Anyway, I'm just trying to get it finished enough to drive it this summer again. Good news though...and I love it when stuff like this happens, but I stopped by a body shop near my work this morning to see if they'd be interested in painting these panels for me so I can assemble them myself, etc. A small bit of luck, but the manager actually had a Bullnose Flareside years ago and knew the beds well. He rebuild a few himself years ago, and said he still has a set of the fiberglass fenders at home. Very interesting. Anyway...makes me feel good about getting them to do some painting for me. I'd love to try it myself, but I don't have the space or the time right now.
  7. Ok gentlemen, The first test assembly went great. Everything fits like a glove. I must have done something right...lol. I am so sick of drilling holes it's not even funny, but I don't have much more work to do now. I have four more small holes to drill and tap (M6) for the tailgate hinges, and a hole in each of the rear stake pockets for the chain/latch assembly to attach, and that's about it. I have to rework the flanges that sit on the wood a little bit, but that's not a big deal. I also have to rework the fender mounting holes to accept the replacement factory-look bolts I got from Mar-K. Last but not least will be to drill new holes in the rear sill. Mar-K only manufactures them to fit the 7 board-6 strip design. If one wants to go with the 5 strip design, new holes must be drilled. Anyway...not a big deal. Oh...and I still have an hours worth of flap wheel work to smooth out my welds.
  8. Something to be aware of is if the fuel pump eccentric happens to be pushing the pump lever down during installation, the pump can be a bit hard to get in the hole straight. The problem is that the timing cover is aluminum and if the bolts don't go in straight they can cross thread very easily. My truck was like this when I bought it, and the fuel pump bolt hole threads were ruined. So... If the bolts are not threading in easily, you may have to turn the crank a bit to get the eccentric to let pressure off the arm. Just be careful and it will be fine.
  9. I just read through that thread yesterday and I believe it was a 1970 F350 carb?
  10. Hey Ray, Something to keep in mind if you're searching for parts is that the lower 4500 RPM tach from the medium duty trucks (F600, F800, etc) is a popular swap for the lower revving 300/6. Just thought I'd mention it if you're on the hunt for these parts...you might come across a medium duty truck in a junkyard somewhere. I grabbed this one out of a junked '85 F800 Fire truck a few months back.
  11. I keep seeing the title Ford Longhorn and my brain keeps reading Foghorn Leghorn...lol.
  12. Yes sir...I guess the previous owner only did a partial EFI removal...
  13. Well done Ray! Are you getting rid of all this stuff?
  14. This looks like a nice little truck. Clean and unmolested swb trucks are getting harder to find these days. Original paint and pretty low miles. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333165296180?ul_noapp=true
  15. This old girl looks to be pretty clean...a few dings and dents, and a really awkward looking lift...lol. https://www.ebay.com/itm/173878480722?ul_noapp=true One can only assume that it had bigger tires and wheels and they were sold off separately;).
  16. Thank you gentlemen! They ended up being way more work that I thought...lol. Oh well, we're on the road to recovery now!
  17. Boy has the novelty of building my own bedsides ever worn off...lol. Oh well...150 or so plug welds later, they are now built. I still need to drill some more holes and then spend a couple hours with flap disks smoothing out my welds. I am far from finished, but it feels good to finally be THIS far!
  18. That's a nice Bronco. Nicely set up. Was the rear step bumper an option on a Bronco or is that just a truck bumper that was added after the fact?
  19. Gary, The '85 4x4 I bought (with AOD) had the narrow mount, and the 1995 5spd trans (4x4) I bought came with the narrow mount. I've seen other 4x4 Bullnoses with the narrow mount too. It makes sense for the extra support on the 4x4, but it wasn't on all trucks which seems odd. I thought it was a 4x4 NP435 thing...but seeing it on Ray's truck proves that wrong.
  20. Well, even the Ford lettering is not spaced correctly, so it was either added or changed. A lot can change in 35+ years. Most of these trucks have been painted and had bodywork done multiple times;). Imagine...it's almost 40 years since the first Bullnoses started hitting the dealers. I've been seeing the odd Bullnose in TV shows and movies lately. Wife and I saw one in Shameless on Netflix a little while back...I think it was the last episode.
  21. Is this '82 an EEC truck with a Feedback carb? I think I had it in my head that EEC didn't show up until later, like 1984-up, but I really have no idea.
  22. Can that transmission mount be converted to the narrower/smaller one that goes in the middle? They're barely $10 at Rockauto.
  23. Did he just change an axle or axles? Or the whole diff? The certification label indicates non-locking, but if he changed it then I guess it will be a mystery until you spin it or pull it.
  24. Sometimes we are forced to do things ourselves huh? Finding competent people is one thing....sometimes finding people at all is a problem...lol.
  25. I believe it was 1983-up diesel and 1984-up gas. I had no idea these things were expensive on Ebay. I grabbed a spare at a junkyard last year and I'm sure it was only $10-$15. I'm going back out to the junkyard today looking for some Ford stuff, if I see a hydraulic pedal set I'll grab it. (It's unlikely that I will, but you never know).
