  1. There were some other nice old Fords there...lots of 'em too. If there were 50 cars there, 20 of them were Mustangs (of course).
  2. There was a Ford only car and truck show here today, a little over an hour away, and I decided to take a drive over to look around since it was so nice out. There was a nice old '84 Bullnose there, clean as a whistle. I forgot to ask the guy about the color, but I'm assuming that this is the color my truck is supposed to be...my new paint is not quite the same. Originally a 300/6 truck it is now sporting a 302 and NP435 4spd trans.
  3. How do you say "Florida man was here" in Canadian? Lol:nabble_smiley_grin:
  4. This thing was just listed for sale about 100 miles from me...I don't even know what to say about it lol. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/587049312129890/
  5. I was going to say that I had nothing to worry about, since I was quite careful with the torque the last time I was in there. But I decided to take a closer look at the pushrod cover this afternoon, and darned if it wasn't warped. I suspect that after Cletus was done stripping my transmission filter bolt back in the day he decided to make sure everything was "nice and tight" on the engine. I'm surprised I haven't had more leaks than I have. I was able to get it back fairly straight with the bench vise, but it's of course not perfect. I think I will use RTV on both sides after all. Also, paint hides many flaws: looks great!
  6. There were some nice cars there last night. It's cool that this happens every week, and it's not all that far away so it's a nice way to spend an evening, even without my truck. There are a lot of the same cars every week, but at the same time, there is a lot of rotation too. Some guys only show up once in a while, so if you don't go all the time you might miss something interesting. I also like that it's open to everything, so there's a wide range of cars and trucks there.
  7. Yeah, the 8000 RPM tach would be on the optimistic side as well. Still, it's a decent looking dash.
  8. I would say somewhat, yes. They're for three speed manual, correct? They mention two levers, which would be three-on-the-tree 3spd, and not auto trans 3spd (with one lever). I bought a set of them on Ebay back when I rebuilt my 3-on-the-tree steering column. You can see below where it sandwiches between the two levers in my before and after pics.
  9. Well, I didn't actually find anything...lol, I just RE-posted what somebody else found! So...a tip of the hat to the other guy. This gauge kit intrigues me though. I didn't like the other available molded dashes...there are a couple I think, but I just couldn't see them in my dash. These Dakota Digital kits on the other hand...while not factory in appearance, they're not all that bad. My truck was never supposed to be a "Restomod"...but I do like "new" stuff when I can get it, and if the price is reasonable. It was meant to be a driver, but I also want to keep it relatively original in appearance. I'm not into most of the modifications that are trendy these days. I like my stuff to look like period correct mods.
  10. I just saw these posted over on FTE. These are far nicer than the other Bullnose molded dash offerings (that accept standard gauges) in my opinion. I like this kit. Comes with all of the required sensors, etc. I wonder if one could install one of these kits without any modifications to the existing wiring?...Hmmm... http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1215/category_id=437/mode=prod/prd1215.htm
  11. Nice old Mustang... And the last one, not a Ford at all, but an AMC for Dave (I think he's into those?). I am oddly attracted to these old Javelins...
  12. 351 Torino...there were actually two 351 Torinos there...almost the same, but one was a hardtop and the other a rag top. Second gen Lightning. These trucks are growing on me...I'd like to build a clone some day. And then this barge...I'd love to run it across a scale...
  13. This old Pinto is a....I dunno what to say...lol. It has a 302 with a tunnel ram and two 4 barrels. And this thing...I don't even know what it is...an "LX" something?...
  14. Good buddy of mine just married a Mongolian. She is an asian Russian. Weird. Knowing how perverted he is, his first child may be the 2nd coming of Ghengis Khan Went out for car show night to walk around with a friend of mine, and it was quite busy. There were a few old Fords kickin' around;). Old step...er...I mean Flareside, 1979 I think, but with a Bullnose bed on it. Nice old Ford coupe...I dunno, 1930? With of course a SBC in it...lol. It had air conditioning though, so I'm jealous about that. Nice old 390 4spd Fairlane. I know this guy (He used to work for me). He takes it to car shows, but he also drag races it, so it gets used and abused. It is a gorgeous car.
  15. Dave, Yes sir, I checked out the cowl area last year when I did the hydraulic clutch brace on the firewall...the install requires that cowl panel to be removed. The seam sealer is all still in pretty decent condition with no sign of any rust or leaks...nothing to speak of at least. The seam sealer was getting bad down low below the door hinges as the rust had worked its way up behind it. Peeled all the old stuff off and got them to sand blast the area and fix it all up. So far I'm happy with the body work these did. The cab corners look pretty good, and the way the guy has them installed it should look pretty close to factory. I had new filler panels made for the back and even had the edges bent just like the factory ones were, and they're going to rivet them on for me too.
  16. I got here too late to answer! The old Blue Mule is coming along. It should look pretty good when it's all done. I wasn't 100% sure on the blue when I first saw it on the bed panels, but it has really grown on me. It is what the truck is supposed to look like. That particular color was 1982-1984 only I believe. I had gotten so used to looking at the old faded paint, that is what I had in my mind as "normal"...lol.
  17. Well, as of late Thursday afternoon I think I'm pretty safe in assuming the truck won't be ready for the weekend...lol. The good news is that all the welding is finished. New cab corners are in, RH front lower door post is welded up, and they had to put a couple patches on the lower backside of the cab corners. The new fenders and doors are painted inside and edged. As rusty old Fords go, this old thing is actually not in terrible condition. I was kinda worried about what they were going to find behind the windshield trim, but it was clean as a whistle back there...just dirt and debris build up, but no rust.
  18. Well, they were hoping to have the truck finished by the end of this week, but I'm not holding my breath on it at the moment. They told me this morning that they were priming it again today, but I did see my fenders and doors still on the stands in the shop, so maybe they were just priming the door jambs today, I don't know. As much as I want the darn thing back, I also don't want them to rush it either if you know what I mean. This is a huge shop, and I think my truck is something they work on to fill the time in between other bigger (higher paying) jobs...lol. It is what it is. There is an all Ford car and truck show this coming weekend on Sunday. If I get the truck back even as late as Saturday I'm going to try and make it, but my hopes are not high at the moment...lol. Still lots of good weather left though, so I'll have lots of time to drive it yet.
  19. If you are using a phone...iPhone or whatever, take the pictures with the camera sideways...as in landscape view instead of portrait. That should solve the problem. Otherwise, I open the pictures in something like Paint, and then save them again and Paint codes them correctly for the forum. This only works if you're using a PC however and not a mobile phone.
  20. Since you guys are talking about tailgates here, I just happened to come across this one in for sale in Canada while surfing for other stuff... https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1263604195&requestSource=b The seller doesn't know what year it is obviously, and neither do I, but figured you guys would know.
  21. Someday Gary, someday! Hopefully in 2020 when I have some more creature comforts in the truck like AC and CC...lol. Hey, looks like you just hit the 2000th post in this thread!
  22. Gary, I don't think I'd care to do those vent window seals again...lol. You have to hold your tongue in a special position for those! In any case, I wish I had had more time to refinish them properly. They got a quick sand and a couple quick coats of gloss black engine paint (that's what I had on hand...lol). I did also have some satin black on hand, but figured the engine paint would be more durable. The gloss might be too bright, but I think it will get roughed up and fade in fairly quickly. The rust on those parts was only one issue. The other was that they were also covered in blue paint from the last bakyard job it got. There's blue paint on EVERYTHING!...or there was, at least!
