  1. Thanks Gary, it is what it is. Everything looks fine from a distance and the paint on this truck is far from perfect anyway, but it's just frustrating knowing so many companies are willing to cut corners like that. That looks good. But it is ridiculous how some things are shipped.
  2. I adjusted my Bronco per the FSM. Same instructions. And it was loose to me. Went to how I’ve always done it, kinda like Jim was saying. I go tight while spinning the wheel, back it off, then snug while spinning the wheel, then to the next castellation for the cotter pin or bolt.
  3. Yeah, I’m pretty slow to wake up, but I’ll stick to coffee…
  4. Also, have you checked your timing? When I first bought my 86 I used to own, it was very slow to start after I stopped to get gas on the way home. I thought the battery or cables were shot. After checking everything out I checked timing. I don’t remember exactly, but it was 25° to 30° advanced at idle. I set it around 12° and it started good after that.
  5. That’s great MPG for a 460, and your truck is pretty heavy as she sits. Good job on the gauge.
  6. Yes, I don’t blame you. I was assuming you could see the o ring if it popped out. If you can get that pressure on it, I think that’s a good idea.
  7. That’s what I would do. If it doesn’t work try your deviation method. Here’s a picture of Pratt and Whitney PT6 turbine nozzles. 4 o rings per nozzle, 14 nozzles. I used to squirt a dollop of DC4 in my hand add the o rings and rub my hands together to get the DC4 on the orings.
  8. I used Dow Corning 4 on o rings on aircraft. A dielectric compound. That stuff is kind of spendy. Silicone is good to use, keeps the o ring in place to do it’s job.
  9. Make sure the pistons in the brake calipers aren’t seized. When I had my 86 I was thinking of resealing mine. But the pistons wouldn’t budge. Had some nice brakes after I replaced the calipers! Nice job!

    Nice job! Very interesting.
  11. Same here Cory. I used to use a website that searched far and wide but quit working with craigslist. I search cities now.
  12. No, I never bought those, someone else had them. I just used masking tape. One thing I liked is masking tape is just sticky enough so that the socket doesn’t stick to the nut when I pulled the ratchet out of whatever tight spot I was in.
  13. There’s these critters, https://www.amazon.com/Lang-Tools-522-19-Piece-Magnetic/dp/B00ILLNSY0/ref=asc_df_B00ILLNSY0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309811990469&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5979608605695343267&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033130&hvtargid=pla-570695753503&psc=1 I used to ball up masking tape sticky side out and put them in my sockets.
  14. I usually stay out of these 8-Lug discussions LOL, but this one made me curious so I had to take a look myself. According to the suspension pages, the front lower shock mount only had one mounting "ear", or tab. Looks like this was the case from 1980 through to January 1985: And then from February 1985 and on the lower shock mount had two ears, or two tabs. I assume the shocks stayed the same regardless, and just the bottom mount rotated is all, but I'm no expert when it comes to 8-Lug stuff;). Oh ok. Good find Cory! I misunderstood.
  15. That’s interesting. I have/had Streamlight products. They are spendy but very nice! Edit: I went and looked at their products on Amazon, very reasonable. I bought a Stinger, I guess 15-20 years ago and I thought I paid $150 or more. I liked that light. I don’t remember what happened to it, must have grown legs and ran off!
  16. What’s the 86 shock mount off of? Sounds like the F150 and Bronco dual shock mount.
