  1. It looks great and will hold up to leaks and weather etc.
  2. Yep. My first Bullnose did that to me. Nice crisp autumn day and I took my wife for a ride. Turned on the heat and wondered who was burning leaves. Then I realized there wasn't anyone w/in a mile. It was US! If you pull the kick panels on the drivers side and passenger side, there are panels under there that IIRC would be for vents on non A/C trucks. I found debris up to the panels!
  3. Welcome! Born and raised in Kokomo.
  4. I agree, didn’t realize how much better I like my 86 over the 94 I had.
  5. I haven’t seen much on them yet. But, you caught my attention with Godzilla gas motor! I like big V8 American muscle doggonit! Chevy came out with that 8.1, which I was told was a big 454 that idled well. Poof it was gone, same with the 460. I like torque!
  6. Yes, in my opinion. I walked away from the VA in the late 80’s. I had good insurance and it was easier. Came back in the system in the mid 00’s. Much better, and some of that could have been my attitude. And I mean by the way we were treated i.e. respectfully. I had hardware removed from my right femur and right ulna in 1985 or so. That went great. Had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands in 1987 or so, also went great. Had my right hip replaced by a local doctor because the VA was 2-3 years out. Right now I am extremely pleased with my care provider and nurse. I’ve heard guys bad mouthing our VA clinic and asked how long have they been going there. Never set foot in there. I asked how do you know then. Just what I’ve heard they said. I know people have had bad experiences. You’re going to have them any where you go. I would say give them a chance.
  7. I am flattered that you are using some of my ideas. This is why I like to share them with others! The heater control valve is something that I added. This is a FORD part that was originally used on 1995 - 2004 Ford Rangers with A/C. I agree with Gary in that it is a nice feature to have - especially if you live in a hot area. In the normal "resting" position, this valve allows coolant to flow into the heater core as usual to give you a source of heat to adjust the temperature in the cab. But if you choose MAX A/C on your HVAC panel, the heater control valve will effectively block the flow of hot coolant to the heater core and redirect it back into the engine. This removes an extra source of heat that the A/C will otherwise have to overcome. The result is a cooler cab when using MAX A/C. Unlike a manual shut-off valve - which simply stops the flow of coolant dead in it's tracks - the heater control valve will still allow the normal flow of coolant in either position. And unlike a manual shut-off valve, it works automatically using engine vacuum. (I felt the vacuum-controlled automatic valve was more fitting for Lucille, considering she is an upscale LARIAT truck with many other vacuum-controlled features.) To make it work, you simply install it in the heater hoses as shown in the picture below. Then, disconnect the hard vacuum hose line (from a grommet in the heater core case) from the vacuum motor that controls the HVAC functions. Both of which are located in your engine bay on the passenger's side. The heater control valve will connect to a tee that you can easily install between these two connections: Or if you would like, you can run the vacuum line to a manifold vacuum source in the summer. This will close the heater control valve any time the engine is running and keep hot coolant out of the heater core all the time. You just have to remember to unplug it again when the weather turns cooler and you want heat. The upside is the air coming in when using the VENT function will also be cooler. The downside is you will not be able to adjust the temperature no matter what position the HVAC control panel is in. In other words, the top lever that adjusts the temperature will be useless. The manual shut-off valve will have the same problem. Heater control valve (1995 – 2004 Ranger) F87Z18495AA I did this to my Bronco. Just like you described. I read about it somewhere, could have been eff tee eee. If it was you Rick, thanks! Works good! The valve started leaking after two or three years, can’t remember. Found out they’re made partially out of metal now. Installed one of those. So, I have a spare as I had one (all plastic) waiting for me to put it on my truck. Haven’t found the need yet. But haven’t taken it down south like the Bronco. Also have an electrically operated vacuum switch which I also haven’t needed yet. For as you mentioned warmer air through the vents. I just kick on the A/C on Max!
  8. Very nice! Those two tone door panels would fit the color of my truck! And I like the seats and console. But that would shame into doing the rear seat and the dash and the paint and so on... Wow! I like what I have!
  9. Great job! Interesting as I noticed the other day my stereo sounds weak.
  10. Ha! Sounds like Wild Willie Borsch and the Winged Express! AA Fuel Altered was the class I believe. His crew chief told him don’t shut er down till you hear the guard rail clicking or smell lemons! He washed the parts in Lemon Joy!
  11. That big ol’ motor doesn’t look that big in there! That’s great!
  12. Some of what I’ve read agrees with you guys! Not a real good car and many were hot rodded because of that. I like it too, would be fun to putter with.
  13. https://klamath.craigslist.org/cto/d/lakeview-1953-henry-runs-drives/7062967692.html Interesting! Be fun to drive around. Edit: I thought these were Fords at one point, Henry J Kaiser automobiles.
  14. I believe that exhaust is stock. We were talking about it on a previous 1986 F250 w/460. Somebody said...Gary I assume...that sometime during the 1985 model year the 460 got dual downpipes to the muffler, and then a single outlet? http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/1986-F250-4x4-29k-original-miles-on-Ebay-in-Florida-tp43765.html http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/file/n49145/11.jpg I had my rear main and pan gasket replaced by a trusted mechanic. He said right off, I’ll fix that exhaust by the cross member. He’s a Ford guy, especially Ford diesels, and he was aware that something funky is in that area.
