  1. Jim - if yours does use the outer sheave on the alt, I'd be interested in seeing how yours is setup.
  2. No worries - my wife says I mumble sometimes Bill - (referring to the wood photo) nice to see it already out there earning its keep! I am sure you've already said it but is it electric over hydraulic?
  3. Do you have the option of finding a jy board to recover? If not, I'd give the repair a shot. Maybe talk to a shop and see if they have some tips or a recommended foam to hide any repairs? If the board turns out well order the fabric/glue, if it doesn't at least you aren't out much but some time. I really like the vinyl look
  4. Yeah, just saying for all those no longer with the air pumps and the desire to pair up the alt belts, it'd be nice if it was as easy as putting another on.
  5. The L&L sure looks like the two are the same just visually with the one mostly obstructed by the belt. I agree that you shouldn't need two belts in the normal usage scenario. Kind of a shame the outer (A/C) crank groove is smaller though in case one did want to run two.
  6. Seems high to me as well, especially as a base model, but with current trends it is hard to really say. I would say the dent is pretty noticeable and it's more of a 'cleaned' vehicle than 'restored'. Still worlds nicer than the broncos for sale around here though.
  7. Looking really good John! Very clean install of the vapor barrier. I am a fan of the rope caulk for reusability but there's also the argument of how often one will need to do door surgery. You are too kind towards that little raised ring Gary! Sounds like a great gift seed to plant
  8. Very nice offer Bill! Thanks John - I am just paying it forward I've been given enough information and troubleshooting assistance from other members that I'll forever be in their debt. Vic - this is a yard north of Springfield Mo. Great place to spend a day....or week.
  9. I guess I'd vote for the front edge. Real world I'd say the odds of them causing an issue in either location is slim but all of the, however unlikely, scenarios I can think of are cons for the inside edge. I don't think I'd mind reaching around to plug them in on the front edge and I'd rather have something sticking out that goes along the side of the bed.
  10. Glad to hear you found it and it didn't require any further disassembly (or cost)
  11. Blue box and the canister above it look like aftermarket cruise. These often came with either a replacement turn signal stalk or a little panel that screws to the dash (possibly others). On the duraspark, the unplugged is C321 and the plugged one is C323. If the dist is a 1 wire now the other end of C323 is likely unplugged near the dist or tucked near the drivers side valve cover. Could also be cut off... This would be C322. This would also impact your tach if present.
  12. Have you received yours? I followed up with them fairly regularly and one day they told me that they were shipping now but my Paypal payment had essentially timed out. Guess since there was such a long delay between placing the order and them shipping. They had to send me another invoice. No mention of lubrication. No instructions besides some diagrams that showed the part numbers and torque. Most complaints about noise with poly mounts do seem to be squeaking at the mount itself so the grease makes sense (in moderation at least, right Gary? ). For me it sounds like it's coming from the passenger door - fender area despite checking and tightening those bolts. I'd hoped the silicone mounts would let the body move together a bit better and maybe it does but not enough to stop the creaking.
  13. Gotcha - at least you won't be working in a tight cramped corner trying to solder without touching anything else:nabble_smiley_wink:
  14. I agree both with having it separate and not liking the dome and cargo tied together. Back to the fuse box to add heavier wire or?
  15. I haven't done it or looked at one personally (CrewCabs are very uncommon here) but I recall from some research awhile back that a guy on FTE had a rear bench out of a later 80's truck in his regular cab bullnose. If you do it and get a definitive answer that will be good info for Gary to add to his Seat Interchange page. The page does mention that they reg cab and crew cab trucks shared the same floor pan but if we can specifically say the front and rear are a straight swap, that'll be nice. Bill will probably know this off the top of his head. Tagging him.
  16. As long as you don't forget the coke and I am using that as an all-encompassing term for soft drinks. For me it will always be 3 and 4 wheelers as well.
  17. Thanks for the heads up - haven't heard of that show but looks worth checking out. I was watching a Road Rage youtube compilation the other night where a guy in a Bullnose Bronco got mad and started chasing and swerving at another car. Hate to say I started worrying more about the Bronco than the person in the other car
  18. I wondered the same. Looks like it's just a Wixgear phone mount. I've seen non-AC trucks use these bezel for additional gauge/buttons mounted there but not disabling a functional one. Guess it was decided that losing the one didn't make enough of a difference for them. I get it though - I often keep the far driver side one closed so it doesn't freeze my hand so I can't say I'd miss that one not being there...
  19. Ouch. That word might be a slight understatement. Would be an interesting time to be taking an economics class.
  20. Falls into your last point but I know several people that are putting their home improvement projects on hold due to the abnormal prices in that market. Funds for a budget like that could be getting reallocated to a vehicle project.
  21. That is crazy! My brother in law and I were talking last night about this rise while looking at vehicles on FB that are showing the same behavior.
  22. Interesting swap idea. Subscribed. Yes on the diesels. Also would have the Dana50 if 4x4. Looks like there may be a mixing of Regular cab and Super cab abbreviations used. I've seen both used on various forums. Did Ford abbreviate them? RC - regular cab or SC - single cab EC - extended cab or SC - supercab Your 86 is a Supercab right? Asking as I'd start measuring out the differences like the rear cab mounts to see what would need modified.
  23. Jim beat me to it Hey Mills, That is for the Fuel Vapor Valve. Take a look here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/fuel-vapor-valve.html It will have a grommet and then the valve. I am not finding a great diagram (Gary may know of one) but this kind of shows it:
