  1. If you haven't ordered yet, rather than the KISL, check out the RFiF2SW. I have the KISL as they came with my amp as a package deal but went with the RFiF2SW just to eliminate a F-F coupler. And speaking of reducing connections, not sure if you have molex terminals/crimpers but I ended up de-pinning/re-pinning (?) the HS8 harness so the wires go straight into it. They are a minor things but just some ideas
  2. That's great! Just something about the sound/feel of popping in a cassette in an old truck takes you back to their heyday.
  3. I was only there once many years ago checking out OSU with a then girlfriend and her parents. Remember liking the campus. My setup is- Amp: Kicker DXA250.4 CK8 Sub: Kicker 11HS8 Speakers: Kicker CSS65 The door panels already had separate tweeters installed in the top front corners or else I would have gone a different route just to avoid cutting holes myself. I know the amp is bridged but without going out there and checking, I can't recall the specifics on that. One of those 'did the research, set it up, forgot the details' type things. If it helps anyone happy to look though. It's plenty loud windows up or down (again to me anyways). This is with all of the cab/door soundproofing and speaker baffles so that factors in some I am sure or at least hope You have a much better headunit than I have from what I recall.
  4. I do! And while I can't say their location factored in, I will say that talking to a couple of the guys there pre-purchase definitely factored in (bridged mode on the amp was new to me so asked a lot about the specifics of it). Who knows if they are located in the same place physically but... Mine is the 11HS8. The thing you see with the number is actually the amp sitting on a shelf a couple inches above the amp. I am not an audiophile, I just want to hear the lyrics, but given how less than ideally enclosed the amp is and it still sounds good to me, I'd buy another if needed. Edit: let me rephrase that since saying I just want to hear the lyrics while talking about a sub is a bit 'off'. I am just meaning that I am not overly picky with the fine details. I mainly listen to 90s pop/rock and country. As long as I can hear the lyrics but they don't sound hollow, I am happy. The sub really helps round the two door speakers out to my ears.
  5. I've been really happy with my Kicker Hideaway. It's in my console (link) but would fit under a bench.
  6. Yeah, that's just down the road - literally If anyone is interested and the seller doesn't want to deal remote or ship, just let me know.
  7. 9.2 to 69. Matches the pre-87: https://faq.speedhut.com/kb/fuel-level-gauge-faqs/what-are-some-typical-oem-fuel-level-sender-ohm-resistance-o-ranges So looks like just a not very common replacement part. While the price of the current ebay listing is a bit crazy, for someone wanting a drop in replacement, it's an option at least.
  8. Hmm interesting idea. I will say it took awhile for one to pop up (I bought it not too long ago for a fraction of this current price) and was surprised to see another one show up so soon. So based on that I would definitely put them in the 'few and far between' category. If you want and can tell me what test you want me to do, happy to grab my multimeter and check the nos one I have.
  9. Prepare your wallet https://www.ebay.com/itm/296350194998?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qxlfydLMS1a&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=YiQv5p8oTKK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  10. It was for the Lariat trim level. 85 and 86 had a larger panel that looks like the 87-(not sure when that style ended in the next gen) Would definitely need some more photos. 'No dents' when there is an easily seen dent. Not a big deal but I'd want to see more before making any drive.
  11. Agreed. Can look good on the right truck https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Custom-grille-tp71526.html
  12. Location, location, location Plain old age of material is absolutely a factor but location has a very large impact as well. Sun and heat - be it climate or general storage. Everyone has their preference but I have a fuzzy-ish dash cover in mine and feel it fits the era enough to have grown on me. Can take it off for truck shows but put it on the rest of the time.
  13. Do you have photos of yours? The problem is that you'll be throwing money at something that will end up with the same issue eventually. The factory dashes are just unavoidably old. There are ones out there in perfect shape visually but they are just one light finger poke away from having a hole in the speaker mesh. Not trying to be discouraging but possible you'll be better off repairing or living with yours.
  14. Yep - same idea and I assume available locally (I am still using a hand me down tacklebox from the 80s so haven't bought fishing supplies in a long time). Let us know how it goes.
  15. Could use a single hole aluminum crimp stop sleeve after grinding a slot in it and grinding to length? I've also seen more than one truck that had the top of the pedal bent forward.
  16. The shifter area is a good idea - he mentions the chrome ring every now and then
  17. Ah, I was picturing the other style which you can get this for: https://www.lmctruck.com/1980-96-ford/fd-1980-96-clear-dome-light-lens It and the led made a huge difference in my truck. I've never had the style you have but I remember a guy here using a paddle like led bulb that only lit up on one side. I think it worked out well for him?
  18. If we go off of 'one' and 'pliable' I think we can eliminate the back half of the truck as the tonneau cover was available for a number of earlier years. And most things on the exterior would be a pair. Hmm...
  19. Congrats! Can we start guessing? You say 'one' so it's a single item and not a set/pair?
  20. Do you have the clear (aftermarket) lense in the dome light? Or the white/yellow one?
  21. Somewhere around the most someone will pay and the least you will take? I'd look at SOLD items on ebay. That will be the best way to identify a starting point. No problem at all asking the audience on this forum but with used items be aware that you might get a huge range considering some regions have local junkyards where these trucks were common farm trucks so used parts are still easily accessible. NOS is a different story. You can also look around this Marketplace section to see similar items and the reactions to the prices.
  22. Agreed - that is neat! It does have quite the thickness to it though to give it that look. Somewhere in the middle maybe...
  23. That's your charcoal canister (vapor canister) Just fyi - you've posted this in the new members section. To get more eyes on your posts (since you did the new member post already), you can post in the main forum.
  24. With the screw surrounds intact and being obo, I'd let it ride for awhile. Someone may want to cut it up anyways so the 'mods' already done may not be a deterrent. Personally, I'd allow any offers (so no bottom line auto reject) and just see what you get
  25. Thanks Bill! Merry Christmas! Hope everyone has had a safe holiday.
