  1. Thanks! Heading out to the shop with a flashlight to do some looking. #1 - I think you're right. Now I need to see what that kicker thing actually is and if I should have one or not. #2 and 3 - I'll try to have answers to those shortly Appreciate the links. Sure glad you have these all scanned in.
  2. Been looking through the service manual and I think I must be missing something big here. Maybe someone can teach me to fish (or read). #1: To Throttle Position Module connector? The book has a lot of well laid out drawings of the wiring but a lot of them terminate with 'Wiring Assembly XXXXX' How do I track down the details of XXXXX? I figure there has to be somewhere that explains what the specific wire harness is for and the wire colors but for the life of me I am not finding it in the book.
  3. These are great! Thanks So when are you going to publish a Bullnose coffee table book? :) Was in B&N the other day and looked through a Ford one that had some photos and captions dedicated to them but nothing substantial.
  4. I looked through my 86 service manual and while I think I can identify #2 in the pictures, I am not sure how to tell what it is used for. No doubt they are already posted here or on FTE but I'd need to know what to search for :) #1. Inside cab. Behind dash cluster bezel in the hole behind the cubby (where the diesel wait lights would be in a 6.9). #2. Engine bay. Under brake booster. Truck does have the trailer tow package. #3. I forgot to take a photo of this one but from the ground screw that the wiper motor connects to just below the cowl there is another ground wire with a connector that's not plugged into anything. I know my 86 parts truck has this also. Is it there just for easy ground access or some factory use? Happy to provide more photos or wire colors. I am referring to the two plugs that aren't connected to anything in the photos. Thanks!
  5. Still needing this? Let me know and I can put it on my list of things to be on the lookout for during my next jy run.
  6. Perfect! I've been wanting to try that sem paint so those might be a good excuse although I agree - the black wouldn't be bad as is. On another note - there's a couple trucks similar to ours in the jy so if you are looking for anything color specific let me know and I am happy to take a look next time I am there.
  7. On my 1980 I have to go really, really slow but the fill neck on it comes up in the middle of the flatbed so it's a little different anyways. On the 86 I can set the lever on the pump handle and let it go as fast as it wants until it trips. With my gpa's 94 it helps to drive it up on a block of wood if you don't want to trickle it.
  8. Needing the long plastic seatbelt standups for my bucket seats. Can just the plastic be obtained from another year/model and slip over the actual belt?
  9. Was pretty disappointed right after joining the forum last night, seeing the photos from this years truck show, and realizing that I missed it by a few months. Looked like a good time and next year it is!
  10. Good info - didn't know about the 84 to 85 difference. Too bad it's not a simple plug and play but I'll still keep an eye out for one on my next trip.
  11. Never seen it on a transfer case either. My 86 1 ton parts truck (was a 500 gallon gas tank truck) has the pto unit on the transmission. Shaft goes from it to a Roper fuel pump that is hanging under the frame in a cradle and piped into the tank. I've seen postings of pto powered winches on the backs of tow trucks or gin pole trucks. Never looked underneath one but I've always assumed that the pto shaft went straight back to gear box and then up 90 degrees to the unit on the bed.
  12. Thanks and yes, I need to start a progress thread. Wife is out of town tonight so just the kids and me but maybe I can put something together after they go to bed. Sure thing on the map - you can put me down in Bolivar MO just north of Springfield.
  13. I'd have to argue that yours looks better but I will say that you have mighty fine taste!
  14. If he isn't, let me know and I can see what I have for diesel tachs. I am also planning to head to the jy this weekend so can look there for one as well as any other requests people have. Not really looking for anything myself this time - I just enjoy wandering the rows.
  15. Forgot to add a photo. I don't have any good quality ones so "don't both adjusting your set" - the photo is out of focus.
  16. I thought the price was hard to beat. Have had to talk myself out of making an offer on it frequently. So someone please buy it :) According to the shipping location it looks like it's coming from Santa's backyard- Item location: North Pole, Alaska, United States Yeah, been active in waves on FTE over the past few years depending upon how much time the house project leaves me for working on trucks. Just finished my new member post a couple minutes ago actually.
  17. Hey everyone, First off Gary - I can't say enough good things about this site. Thanks a lot! About me - I grew up in bullnoses on the farm as my grandpa bought a new 85 the year I was born and my dad bought an 84 when I was in elementary. A 'fancy' () 83 was bought in the mid 90's. We drove them all up until around the mid 2000's when they were all phased out but those will always be the trucks I associate them both with. My grandfather gave me his 460 F250 (non running) about 6 years ago and that started my downward spiral. Primarily I have been into the cab and chassis 1 tons. There's just something about a simplistic, no-nonsense work truck. This summer though I decided it was time to (somewhat) stop messing around with old farm trucks that have been used as farm trucks and get something a little nicer. My wife's and my definition of nice are far from the same but I am blessed to have someone as willing to humor me as she is. So in a move that would only make sense to members of this forum (or so I tell myself) I sold my 35+ mpg 2012 Focus and started a search around the country for my 'forever' truck. I had a pretty strict set of criteria and I can't count the times I asked people for photos of the door sticker. It took a couple months of daily searching and driving a rough as a cob 1980 1 ton that pushed the limits of my wife's willingness to be out in public with me but I struck gold in early November. Not only did the truck meet all of my criteria but the gentleman selling it was willing to put up with my questions. Downside - the truck was as far away from me as you could get in the contiguous US. That was an experience in itself but again, everything worked out better than I could have hoped for and the truck made the 2000 mile trip only adding 20 miles to the odometer. I really wanted to fly out there with my 6yr old son and drive it back but with the onset of winter weather the potential for roadside trouble was too high. I am now the happy owner of a 1986 F250 Supercab XLT Lariat 460/C6 4x4. I've got a lot of plans for this truck but for right now I've just been taking care of the typical maintenance items so it won't be down for any extended period of time this winter. That went a little longer than planned for a quick intro. Happy to be here and look forward to the knowledge this site and forum has. Meant to add - this site was absolutely invaluable when double-checking specs on the trucks I would come across in my search.
  18. https://www.ebay.com/itm/202511843728?ul_noapp=true Nice looking Rosewood and you can add your own trim emblem to match your truck. Best part is that you can say a part of your truck came from the North Pole
