  1. If you replace the rear main seal, while changing the clutch, give this some thought. The Frenchtown Flyer [retired Ford engine development engineer] recommends using a seal from a Modular [V8] engine. The sizes are the same and the newer design has 2 lips for a better seal.

  7. The flywheel in my son's 1984 and the one in my 1986, both, were factory drilled for either the 10" or 11". Both trucks received the 11" LUK clutch kit. The 11" clutch required less pressure [leg] than did the 10" units. The kits only cost ~$35 more [11" vs. 10"]. The mounting bolts are different, but easy to obtain.
  8. The 2 X 4 Clifford intake and adapters will be at the Garagemahal Truck Show so it can be looked at, by anyone interested.

  10. These kick panels would require painting: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-86-FORD-TRUCK-KICK-PANELS-W-VENTS-TRIM-819/113858796501?hash=item1a82835bd5:g:tf0AAOSwojBdTbiU
  11. Last year, attendees brought extra license plates from their states and swapped for ones they did not have. I am bringing some [AL, GA, MS, TN, TX, etc.].
  12. What about making an adapter plate and using a 2nd Carter YF? Perhaps a sheet metal shield(s) could be attached to the exhaust manifolds to direct heat towards the underside of the intake.
  13. I have found it is easier to R/R the push rod cover if the distributor cap is removed [set aside, leaving sparkplug wires intact].
  14. Earlier this week in the WHYDTYTT forum [page #99], Gary posted photos of a CLIFFORD 2 X 4 intake manifold with adapters which work with Motorcraft 2100 or 2150 carburetors. This manifold was an "impulse" purchase, as I have been driving for over 10 years with the stock log intake and a Carter YF. It is a NOS unit and I wanted an opportunity to preserve it. As I approach retirement and will not depend on having the truck at the "ready", it is possible that the manifold might be experimented with. If so, since the engine is still quite healthy, the intake manifold and probably F.I. exhaust manifolds will be swapped for the stock system on the stock engine [Duraspark conversion already done, since 1986 was feedback]. What carburetors are suggested?
  15. My bad regarding the "7F322" which should be "7F332"... I edited the subject title.
  16. Imitation it the most sincere form of flattery!
