  1. Yippee!!!! Yes, that sure looks like it would leak. Well done!
  2. Cool! Show us what you are doing! Maybe others will want one? Would be neat if you created a simplified one for those of us with just the basics. As for colors, there are several of the diagrams show on the pages here: Documentation/Underhood/Vacuum Systems/Vacuum Diagrams and then the various engines. Some of those have a bit of color.
  3. This must be a 1980 only bezel, or something else? This one wouldn't work in my 1984 unless I moved both turn arrows and swapped them with the brake and seat belt lights. Interesting, I didn't realize that there were differences in the indicator lights... Yes, the 1980 was a one-year wonder in several ways, including where the indicators are in those windows.
  4. We have been using Microsoft Teams at work a lot lately, and it seems to work pretty well. However, I have only been using it on my laptop. A couple of my coworkers have been using it on their iPhones and are happy with it. I haven't tried the app yet, but will get around to it sometime. Anyway, it has been working OK for remote meetings and presentations and such. Just an FYI if you were looking for something to use. I'm not familiar with FB Live at all, but I have a few people in my friends list that have used it at concerts and live events. That's a possibility, Cory. And for church we are using Zoom. So maybe one of those would work for us - assuming we want it to be live. But I could just video things and post the Youtubes. We need to kick this around quite a bit.
  5. Bill - In this case the stick and the tube are very close in length as the stick only protrudes ~1". Anyway, I think Jim and I've come to the same conclusion - the Amazon listing is for a 12" tube. Bruce - I'll call those folks. They don't seem to have an off-the-shelf product that fits the bill, but I'll contact them. Thanks! Jim - Yes, I was excited as well when I found it. But the price and the part number seem to say it is a 12" model, and Amazon doesn't find a -24 when I search for it. And, I can't justify $35 for 12" of tubing, and that is the only difference.
  6. Shaun - Don't know why you couldn't submit both trucks. Seems reasonable to me, said the guy with two trucks. Brian - Thanks. All - Keep the cards and letters coming in, please. But another thought - do we just do this similar to the Truck Of The Month poll, meaning there's a time frame for submitting, then there's a time frame for voting? Is there a way to use video to advantage? (If we were doing Facebook I'd suggest FB Live.) What other ideas do you have? Please share so we can think out of the box.
  7. Vic - I think you've gotten an answer. No one has seen that # nor knows of the paint code. But if you find it PLEASE tell us. Sparky - Pics of the truck?
  8. It took a long time to load for me in Chrome, and kept saying it was waiting on a server in Germany. So here are the pics:
  9. Yes, I have. And you are welcome. Good shot of the certification label. Do you have question?
  10. I don't think that is the right one. It is ED-5011 but not -24 which designates 24". According to Lokar's numbering scheme that makes it a 12" And, the price of $75.42 is consistent with everyone's price for the 12". Instead, the 24" unit is ~$111. But, it does say "23.2 x 6 x 1 inches".
  11. Well, shucks. I got Huck's dip stick bent to sorta fit, but the tab/ear is not going to work. You cannot see it in the pic below, but it is ~2" from that piece of all-thread that replaced a header bolt. So, it is not going to work w/o lots of effort. I called Lokar to order. They confirmed that their ED-5011-24 will fit. But that I need to buy it from one of their vendors. So I went to Summit, and their site says it'll ship on May 15th. So I called Jegs. They don't have it and said it'll be "Mid next month" before it could ship. But, they suggested we look for an alternative, and I agreed. He went away for many minutes and came back to say "We don't have any alternatives." To say I'm frustrated would be an understatement. Am I back to Huck's and extend the tab?
  12. Yes, I'm sure we'd have many more entries that if we had a f2f meet. But we probably need a few more rules. Unlike previous shows which were open to everybody, I'm thinking this one is only open to Bullnose Forum members, and we may have to have a cutoff date or a post-count minimum. Does this make sense? Or should it be open to anyone? However, while the theme is "Ford truck", that doesn't mean it has to be a Bullnose, so whatever Ford "truck" a member has would be acceptable. What else? What other rules do we need? Also, we usually get sponsorship from LMC, JBG, Summit, etc. If we do I would mail the gift certificates with the trophies. But, I'll ask them not to send me the catalogs and other stuff, like window cards, as they won't be used and I don't want to ship them. Ideas, please!
  13. This September 19th, the third Saturday, is the time for the 2020 WHATEVERITIS Truck Show. (Garagemahal or Bullnosebible?) However, in the background David and I've been talking about whether it'll get to happen this year. And in the midst of that he suggested we consider a virtual truck show. Here's his suggested text: To that I'd add that we set out the categories, like Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Paint, etc and let y'all vote on the entries. Then I ship out the trophies to the winners. So, with that I'm asking for your thoughts on how we could host a virtual truck show - if we have to.
  14. Well, once again the plot thickens. Called Lokar and talked to Marty, who said "We have just the right one, the 5011... wait a minute, it says 'crate engine only'!" And I said, "Yep, that's why I called you." He said he'd call back. He did and said "We don't have one we recommend. In fact, the owner's '32 is sitting in the show room with a 460 but it doesn't use our dip stick." So I called Scotty. He sent me links to the 5011 on Summit saying his customers have used it successfully. But, the page on Summit says "Fits Ford 460 and 514 crate engines with the original crate engine oil pan only." (Where's the "I'm heading back around this bush, again" emoticon? ) So I called Marty back and he said something like "Ok, but which length? It is available in 12" and 24" lengths." I said "I'll call you back." I went out and took this shot of the dip stick on BB's old engine. It is way too short and is 14" long from the pan to the top of the tube. On the other hand, the dip stick that came with Huck is 24". So I'm gonna use a piece of #10 ground, with vacuum caps on, to see what it would look like to be bent to fit. Then I'll see if I can bend Huck's dip stick to fit and put a 3/8" all-thread in to capture the "ear".
  15. Welcome! Glad you joined. Nice truck! Boy, that hubcap sure cleaned up nicely. And having a non-rusted truck is a huge plus. We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and with your permission we can add you. As for the signature, look in Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's for how to do that.
  16. I'm obviously biased, but I think it is safe to say the Documentation side is "the" place for Bullnose information. But I don't know about the forum. I'm not on other forums, so don't have a way to compare. But I can say that the traffic to the forum as well as membership is growing handily.
  17. It is something we need to think about. But, we may be able follow FORDification.com's lead. (The site, rather than Keith/FORDification.) He is Mr FORDification.com, so is going to be thinking through how that relationship will play out. On the one hand we don't want to be thought of as The LMC Site. On the other hand if we can further the Bullnose parts scene then it would be advantageous for us to do so. So, I think Fordification.com and Bullnosebible.com, assuming that's what we become, can work together as the two pre-eminent sites for these trucks to help foster the hobby.
  18. Definitely not trying to change anyone's perspectives here, but offering another one... If the goal here is for LMC to set up a system to get marketing info, then yes, it's important that it not be accessible to LMCs competitors. But if the goal is for the Bullnose Forum to set up a system to give suggestions for aftermarket support, then it would work out best if it WAS available to the entire aftermarket. Again, not saying people are thinking about it wrong. But if everyone knows the ground rules it can work well either way. Very good point, Bob. Sure would be nice to have a way to do both at the same time.
  19. Bummer! Yes, it is raining off and on all day here today as well. Brandon just called and it is pouring in BA, but just sprinkling here. However, this afternoon is to get "fun".
  20. That is not advertised correctly. It says that it fits 1987 - 96 trucks, but since it has an E0 prefix it obviously fits some trucks starting in 1980. But crossmembers are not straightforward to look up. You do it by Parts List Number. Go to Documentation/Suspension & Steering/Crossmembers and then the Part Numbers tab. Find your truck's parts list number and then scroll down to see what parts are in the list. I took a quick look and find that crossmember used in a whole bunch of parts lists, so it fits lots of Bullnose trucks. But the potential buyer needs to verify that it fits theirs.
  21. Bill - I'm using the later pan, like you are. You can see our exchange about it here. So I need the push-in style dip stick. As for bending the one I have, I tried that a bit yesterday and it is so far off of being "right" that I finally gave up. A little bend "here" made it all wrong "there", and it is so hard to see around the headers. And there's not much "through" with them. The four tubes are quite close and you basically have to go outside of them or inside of them.
  22. If you think the cowl is the source of the leak, then it might not be a bad idea to put it in there - when it is dry. Or, perhaps the sealing you did fixed it?
  23. Yes, it is here: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/For-sale-f-250-4x4-td57863.html
  24. Well, here's the thing...if we make a publicly-available post with a list of parts that need to be reproduced, other vendors are going to see that list too, and could possibly beat us to the punch. Granted, it's going to be a 3-4 weeks before I'm actually there working in an official capacity, but I'd sure like to not have to beat other vendors in a race to see who can come out with a part first. I'm in a new unique situation where I now need to consider, for example, the possible loss of resources by my future employer if someone else releases a new part first that we're currently working on. So while I don't have an immediate answer, I'm thinking that perhaps just making a post suggesting that folks contact me directly with suggestions of things to look into in the future. I'll have to give this some thought to come up with a way for you all to make suggestions in private. I hope you understand what I'm getting at here. When I first got word I was being considered for this position, I made a post in a couple Facebooks groups asking member's opinions on what should be reproduced, and I happen to know for a fact that at least one other aftermarket parts vendor (the owner of the company) was monitoring the thread for ideas for his own company. Now obviously I have no way of knowing what that vendor decided to do with the suggestions posted, but I'm going to have to assume he's using it to try to be the first source available for some of the parts suggested. Keith - We do have an option on here to limit viewing of a page to those having a password. We haven't implemented it so there is no p/w at present. But we could. However, it would be easy for another vendor to join and, therefore, get access. So I don't know that it would be very effective or secure. Probably the best is for all of us to email you through the forum our wish lists. That opens up the channel of communication but keeps it private. To do that, a member just clicks on the person's "handle" and the Send Email To.
