  1. Jim - I plan to get a boot for the slave, don't worry. Just haven't gotten there yet. And thanks, I believe that the stainless screws really help the look of the bumper. But, what does "Couple old days now" mean? Ray - Glad you are following along. At least you'll know what's behind you when the time comes.
  2. Cool! But, why did you have to pull the choke cover? Was something wrong with the linkage? And, I love the Magnaflow sound as well. Can't wait to have a pair on Big Blue.
  3. No, the aux battery and tool box are mutually exclusive as they sit in the same spot.
  4. Ok, see if it is a bit more helpful now. In addition to E0TZ 10769-A, you will need several fasteners. The one shown as N605892 is a Bolt - Hex Flange M6 x 1 x 20. And you'll need the sheetmetal nuts that go with them, and I don't immediately have the part number for them but may be able to get them. And, you'll need the bracket that goes from the fender to the outside end of the coolant recovery bottle. I can get the part number if you need it, but I'm pretty sure I have an extra which you can have.
  5. You need the stuff in the lower right, inc # 10769. But we don't seem to have the full part number on the site. Wait a bit ....
  6. Didn't get a lot of cleaning of the shop done today, but some. And then I "played". Put the speedo cable into the t-case and secured it. Got the heat shield installed on the dip stick:
  7. Nope, endoscope. I would rather not pull the heads if there are no head gasket issues. At least not until the engine is sitting in the truck. As Gary mentioned, I'd like to do the leak down test before any of that happens. I'd just do the leak-down test and know whether the valves and rings are good. Then if the bearings look good, replace the timing set and gaskets and run it.
  8. What we really need to do is to pool our knowledge of ACC carpet colors vs Ford colors and build a list.
  9. Yes, and no. As shown below, from our page at Documenation/Specifications/Interior Paint, there were 5 different blues used over the 7 years of Bullnose trucks. But Regatta Blue was used for two years - 85 & 86.
  10. Gary, I spoke to Robin and ordered up a quart of Dark Harbor Blue. She was SUPER nice and helpful. I bought their cleaner/prep product and a Preval kit with an extra power head. I was hoping to not have to remove my door panels again lol, but seeing the pictures/colors in this thread I almost had to...lol. It'll be a week or more before it gets here (coming by UPS ground) but I'm super excited to try it out. Thanks to 66gtk for starting this thread and sharing the pictures of his work. Excellent stuff. Like I need any help spending my money... Cory - I thought you'd come 'round. (Boy, spending someone else's money sure is FUN! David has something going! ) Yes, she's very nice. And I'm so pleased we've found someone that not only can do the mixing but is so pleasant with which to work.
  11. Amen, brother! Man, it took everything I had to get them out of Huck's engine. The oil had turned to coke and they did NOT want to come out.
  12. Haven't been there, but was at our little strip when Art brought the Green Monster, although I don't remember which. But the blast from that exhaust was awesome!
  13. Interesting looking at the section just north and west of me. For whatever reason, GPSKevin didn't include going through the Tall Grass Prairie, although to me that's a MUST. It is all gravel and there are lots of things to see, including buffalo. So, while I like the idea of using routes others have laid out, I think we should have some flexibility to use local knowledge to improve them.
  14. You are now, quite literally, on the map.
  15. Yes, it might just be a stock pic. And I agree - I thought U-Hauls were gray inside. But NOS is good and most people will paint it, so no biggee.
  16. Jim - That link is to the reman'd PMGR starter. I suspect you mean to paste this one in: https://www.ebay.com/itm/E1TZ1023942A9A-81-FORD-F100-350-RIGHT-DOOR-TRIM-PANEL/172004379973?epid=1447182844&hash=item280c428d45:g:rkoAAOSw4UtWTklt. And it is a great deal! Oddly enough, the suffix of that part number, A9A, indicates the panel should be Black. But it looks like it is probably Nutmeg, which would be D3T. I wonder if it is a stock photo and it really is black? In any event, it is a good deal and can be painted to match whatever.
  17. Great deal, but I've not been able find that # in the catalog. Do you know what it fits? I may be just missing it.
  18. Man, you can't beat prices like that! And, as we've discussed, they can't possibly ship if for $3.95, but that's what they are asking.
  19. Yes, it could be either an intake leak or the idle air controller. But, the fact that it is getting worse, meaning the idle is getting higher, suggests that something is leaking progressively more and more. I wouldn't think an intake leak would do that. But the IAC might. Or a vacuum hose may have cracked and be getting worse? But, it could also be a throttle position sensor. And let's explain what appears to be going on. The EFI system wants the air/fuel mix to be about 14:1. And, it wants the idle to be ~650 RPM. However, it takes its cue for RPM from the throttle position sensor. So if the TPS, or the throttle itself, isn't going back to idle then the computer thinks that you want a higher RPM than idle and adjusts the IAC and the fuel injector pulses accordingly. But if the TPS is going back to idle and yet there's a vacuum leak the computer will add fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio at 14:1, which increases the RPM. Adjustment of the idle speed is shown on Page 74 here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/1985-1986-fuel-system-adjustments.html Perhaps a better description of adjusting the idle speed is given on Page 168 here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/efi-idle-speed-adjustment.html And a description of the system is given here, although you probably don't need that: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/efi.html
  20. Yes, people are appreciative of the documentation as well as the atmosphere. And, courtesy of Clifton, we now have a 1984 F-Series brochure: Documentation/Literature/1984 Literature. Or, go to the spreadsheet on the Documentation/Literature page. So now we have F-Series brochures for all years. Thanks, Clifton!
  21. Got nothing done "to" the truck today as I was supposed to be in clean-up mode on the shop since the kids come in on Saturday. But, little cleaning got done 'cause I mailed a package and picked up the scan of the '84 brochure. And then I scanned the '84 Light Truck Data Book. Did I ever mention that I HATE to clean? Any excuse at all and I'm doing something else. Well, tomorrow I hope to install the heat shield that came in today for the dip stick.
  22. My last two tires are still on the move. So far their routing has been: South Bend IN Chicago IL Bloomington CA Grants NM Henryetta OK That puts them on I-40, so I'm expecting Memphis, then maybe Birmingham and then Atlanta. Here's hoping... Huntsville AL! And after spending a quiet holiday weekend in Alabama... Ellenwood GA That's on the south side of Atlanta, so they're now local. Delivery is promised for tomorrow...have some things going on tomorrow evening, so maybe I can get them on tomorrow anyway, but more likely not until Thursday. Shaun - That sounds like a very nice engine. I'd put it on the stand and do a leak-down test. And, as you suggested, pull the pan and valve covers and check things out. If it looks good I'd put new gaskets on and run it. Mathew - Good thing you aren't in a hurry!
  23. Persistent - This section is New Members Start Here and you were asked to read the guidelines & introduce yourself and your truck. I guess yours might be considered an introduction, but please at least say you read the guidelines. Ok? With that we could promote you to Member and you'll be able to post in the main section, which is where requests like this are best placed 'cause they'll get much more coverage there.
