  1. That's a bummer. Hope you get the switch wired up, but what the plan now, Stan?
  2. Yes, finger's crossed! Clay has a really nice engine spec'd out, so I'm confident Rusty is going to be very strong.

Rob - Don’t miss the link at the first of that thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1291332-dads-air-cleaner.html. It takes you to my thread where I discuss the different snorkels and the angles they take as they leave the air cleaner. You may find that very important as you may have to use one or the other to miss accessories. Or, as said before, you can drill out the spot welds and change the angle. I brazed mine back together and that worked well. But you could also tack weld it if you have the equipment and skill. Is this something I should document on a page? The info seems to be fragmented as I think I wrote some about it on this forum as well.
  4. There were different part numbers on the ECU's, so there were differences. But I can't tell you what they are. However, the pinouts didn't change, so I think it would be safe to try the other ECU.
  5. Yes, the cruise works great. We used it extensively on Dad's truck, running Rusty's engine, to/from DE from here. And it motored up the steep climb in TN on I-40 in 5th gear with no problems on cruise. And they are pretty simple systems. I've never seen one that didn't work if all the pieces and wiring were intact.
  6. Some trucks have a hole in the door that a tab goes into. But most don't. In any case, they glue on and the tab just positions them.
  7. Thanks, Dane. That looks like a good option. I don't expect to be making long transmissions with it, and that's where the heat would be generated. So in receive mode it shouldn't run hot. Ray - It'll already look like that by the end of the trip.

  9. You'll also need to add at least a day to the trip 'cause I had you booking it from western CO to home in two days. But if you have trucks and trailers it'll add at least a full day, if not more. Mind you, I think that's the smart way to do it as adding that many more miles on a bike wouldn't be fun.
  10. Scott - That's cool on the stereo! I would never have thought of that. But I plan to drive the wheels off of BB and speed control will be really helpful for those long trips. Still, it is neat that it worked. On the lock motor, it is strange that it doesn't work well. There's not much to them so it is surprising that it won't work well.
  11. Oh, so much to discuss. Dane - I could do a permanent mount like that and just take the antenna off when I'm not going somewhere where I might use it. But if I have a rack for the tent it'll probably be right up against that spot, so that wouldn't work. I'm still leaning to a magnetic base for an antenna. As for mounting the CB under the dash, I don't think that's going to work very well given my brake controller's location. And I don't have the console. Ray - I know plenty of people with property and I'll bet we can find a place to stash trucks and trailers. But that's an issue I hadn't thought of. Rob - If the President Bill doesn't have cooling fins then the radio mounting of the highliner might work fine. However, I might devise some mounting other than foam. So I'm thinking that the highliner is still of interest to me. I might want to upgrade the speakers in it, though. As for Googling 'highliner headliner', I've done some of that but will do more. However, I'm quite interested to see what you think of it.
  12. We lived in Houston for 6 years, so understand. There was a part of the yard I hated to mow as I lost several mowers to the helicopters. I think they turn them into hovercraft.
  13. Wow! So many issues. What is your plan then? Pull-A-Part? I do think the relay will be quite adequate to heat the O2 sensor.
  14. Count Big Blue and me in, and possibly my son. We will be happy to bring up the tail end and tote things the guys on bikes might need. And, we'll have plenty of tools, compressed air, 110v power, a winch, chain, high-lift jack, etc. Plus, we'll serve as the comm's hub with CB and maybe a signal booster for cell service. And, maybe a satellite radio system such as the Garmin InReach so people can keep track of us.
  15. Mosquitoes? My granddaughter came in complaining of them, but I went out to the creek where she and her brother had been building a dam and stayed with him a bit and didn't see any. And I went out to the lake to get the boat ready to go out tomorrow and didn't see any there either. Speaking of the boat, that multi-port injection system sure is nice. We hadn't had the boat out in maybe 10 months and it started on the 2nd rotation and idled down perfectly.
  16. Oh, and I got it from Bronco Graveyard, some $70 cheaper than LMC, but it's the same one. Yes, this is only for planning purposes at the moment. So when you get a chance, pictures of various things would be helpful. Like how the radio mounts 'cause that "smashed/squeezing in between two pieces of foam" sounds like it would hinder cooling and prevent the sound from getting out of the down-firing speaker in the President Bill CB. (Dane - Does the President Bill have cooling holes top or bottom?) Also, I'm curious about that bump above the driver. Someone speculated that it is for switches, and that could come in very useful if so. On the visors, I'm assuming that my later model visors with the inboard catches will work since the thing is marketed for later trucks as well. See any reason why not? As for the wire routing, it does seem like coming up the back would work nicely. That would let me run the antenna lead out the back, which seems like a good idea right now. So, remind me of how you are using the speakers? Are you using them with the stereo and the CB? I'm thinking that using the speakers in the doors for bass and midrange and the ones above for mids and highs might be good, but would take some crossovers. And thanks on the JBG suggestion.
  17. I wrote that April 21. I guess I'm a little behind. Or was just too hopeful. As I chronicled here, I had to take a break from the Bronco to mouse-proof my parents travel trailer. And now that it's summer we're going up to the cabin most weekends. But today I FINALLY got back to the Bronco. Didn't get much done though. I mounted the proportioning valve to the frame and ran the brake line from the proportioning valve to the flex line that goes to the front axle. From there it Ts into hard lines that go to each knuckle where there are flex lines that go to the calipers. I kept all of that from before, so now I have lines all the way from the proportioning valve to both front brakes. But it's too hot and humid and buggy to stay out in the garage long. So after pulling out the old hard line to the rear of the Bronco I came in and showered. So not much progress, but any is good, right? (edit to add: this project picks up again farther down page 199) Any progress is good! Odd that it is hot and buggy there. It is 77 here now and we had beautiful day.
  18. Guys, we are now into June, so this is your call for submissions for the July Truck Of The Month. This will be open until about the 15th of June when I'll start the poll with your submissions. And, I'll roll over these from June: Angelo's father's red w/a bull bar: David/1986F150Six's sunburst pic: Brian/Dee's Bullnose and his daily driver: Steve/Old55pete's 86 Bronco: And Myrl/myrl883's Parts Truck:
  19. Congrat's to Ray, as his truck is the June Truck Of The Month!
  20. The June Truck Of The Month photo is Ray's 1982 Flareside. Congrat's, Ray!!!
  21. Did you like the seal kit? Do you have a link to it? We need to build a list of resources like that.
  22. The OAH of 49" is a # we can use. But the OAL of 86.2 isn't as it doesn't go to the tire patch but to the rear of the bike, which may be the back of the tire. BB has a 96" bed and a tool box of maybe 18". That leaves only about ~78" in the bed so we'll have to leave the tailgate down, which would extend enough. However, I still hope to have the rear bumper/spare tire mount made and that will complicate things as the tailgate can't be left open. Hmmm.....
  23. If it is the plastic one, they ONLY come off with heat. I beat on it, pried on it, used a gear puller on it, and then someone said heat and it came right off. I used a paint stripper/heat gun on low.
