  1. Yes, if we were to buy an RV it would be a trailer. And a bumper pull. That way either Big Blue or Blue could pull it. If the kids wanted to borrow it they'd take Blue and it could handle anything we've thought about. Plus they'd have room for all three/four of them depending on which set borrows it. But right now we are just dreaming.
  2. Interesting. It seems to say that there was a change between '85 and '86. Was that when the FS10 was introduced?
  3. Interesting. It appears they made a change in '87, and I'll bet Jonathan is right about the recess for the clips. But apparently they made another change in '96, hence the F6? That's strange if it was only used one year. Why go to all the trouble?
  4. Thanks, Jonathan. Good to know the email is working. The other ~400 members will get their email tomorrow. And, no hurry to enter. Room for all.
  5. That really sounds like fun! Janey and I've thought a lot about an RV, as trips like that would be great now that you really don't want to meet many people, check into hotels, eat in restaurants, etc. So we are envious. And, 9.2 is extremely good! I'd have been happy with that back in the day with the '72 F250 and a 9 1/2' camper.
  6. I'll beat Jim to it - PROGRESS IS GOOD! You'll get the last few wrinkles ironed out, I'm sure of it. If you think back over all you've done I'm sure you'll realize how close you are.
  7. I wasn't familiar with "skillion", but now I understand. And I hadn't seen that lockout approach. But, having worked for a power company I fully understand the need when you have a generator.
  8. Thanks, Dane. That's perfect as that's exactly when I sent it. So there's no delay.
  9. DS-II doesn't have an EEC. It is standalone.
  10. I'd not heard of Fiberfix. Cool! Sorry you kinked the hose, but you fixed it.
  11. Ok, I have a couple of questions. First, I hope to put the oil in tomorrow, spin the pump, and see pressure. But remembering that I have the new Lokar dip stick as well as a very large non-stock oil cooler, I'm not sure how much oil to put in. I'm sure I should put in 6 quarts to start with, but what if it isn't on the Full line after I pressurize it? Do I add more to get it to the Full line? Next, I got your clutch hose/tube installed today, Jim. Thanks, again! And, I bled the clutch system using Bill's suggestion and it worked a treat. But the line is quite a bit longer than the old one so I ran it in a different route. I ran it essentially horizontally out of the master over to the fender liner, down the fender liner to the cab, down the crease of the cab and came in from the side to the slave cylinder. You can see that in the pics below, with the one on the right having been shot essentially straight up and a red arrow added 'cause it is hard to see the hose. The distance between the closest header pipe and the hose is 4 1/2" the way I've run it. But after I got it connected and bled it dawned on me that I can't get the boot on since it requires the hose to come in from the front - which puts it far closer to the header. So my question is what should I do? I can think of three options, but you may think of more: Thoughts, please.
  12. Yes, you have something wrong with either the carb or the fuel pump. If you changed the water pump, timing chain, and fuel pump then it is surely the pump. But if the float stuck open on the carb it might be that. Pull the coil wire so it can't backfire in your face, look down the carb with the choke open, and have someone crank it over a bit. I'm going to guess that you will see fuel spill into the intake. If so, whack the carb at the fuel inlet with a wooden mallet or plastic hammer - something to give it a jar w/o marking it. That might cause the float to release, so try turning it over again. If that doesn't do it you have two choices: pull the top off the carb to see if the float is stuck, or put a pressure regulator on. Six psi is at the limit of what an Eddy wants, so it is possible it is the pump. In any event, hang in there! You are just ready to be done with this round!
  13. You need something like this. This is from an older 300 [same as 4.9L], but would work. This offering [not mine] even has the exhaust shroud, which now that I think of it, would no longer work since your truck has the later [improved flow!] F.I. exhaust manifolds. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ford-F100-Air-Cleaner-Assembly-2bbl-2v-300-4-9-OEM/153963524282?hash=item23d8f0f0ba:g:at8AAOSwNZNe3Ry4 This is closer to what yours came with, originally: https://www.ebay.com/itm/80-86-Ford-Truck-Bronco-4-9-300-6-cyl-Air-Cleaner-1980-1986-F150-F250-F350/143654251738?hash=item217275ecda:g:vtIAAOSwwpZfCSMm This is what the EGR assembly looked like prior to being blocked off: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-4-9L-300-6-cylinder-Carburetor-EGR-Plate-Valve-1982-Spacer-ET2A-9D448-FL1/143656494103?hash=item2172982417:g:aR8AAOSwlGZfDQKt This is the spacer that was used in liew of the EGR: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-OEM-Genuine-Ford-1973-74-F250-Truck-75-76-E150-300-6-cyl-Carburetor-Spacer/233405544814?epid=511340983&hash=item36580df96e:g:0wIAAOSwyDFd0OQz https://www.rearcounter.com/E4TZ-9A589-D-parts196722.html And now you've met our "finder", David. He's got a gift for finding things, and a memory that let's him remember who needs what.
  14. Welcome! Nice truck, and a good story. Where in MS? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a town or zip. On the double-DIN, Scott/Kramttocs did it. Maybe he'll be along in a bit to point you to his thread. And, now that you are a member you are eligible to join our truck show. Read up on it here: Truck Shows/2020 Truck Show.
  15. I think you have a good plan. But we don't have a how-to. However, it isn't that hard. If you are going with the HEI then you need a relay triggered by key-on and running hefty power directly from the battery as HEI's are power hungry. So use something like a #10 wire to provide the power. The ECU's wiring should be easy to remove as it is separate from the main wiring. IOW, the ECU has all its own sensors/senders and you can follow the wire from the ECU, remove the sender, and then remove the wire.
  16. Ok folks, I just emailed the first 392 members about the show. (I supposedly can only send 500 emails/24 hour period, so will do this in two goes to get all 772 members.) Hopefully some of y'all will let me know when you get it? And, as said, you can reply to that email with your show entry.
  17. I agree - you want the complete factory air cleaner system. Go read the page at Documention/Fuel Systems/Air Cleaners for an explanation of what we are talking about. And Jim is right - w/o the full conversion from TFI to DS-II and the removal of the EEC system your timing is going to be static. No advance. Or, you can go back to the full emissions system. But there is no halfway.
  18. Actually it is the son that wants a Bronco and the daughter that has the Subie. As for taking a Bronco to Central America, and Nicaragua specifically, that might work. There are very few Ford or any other American vehicles there as the US pulled out in the 80's. But in recent years a Ford dealership was opened in Managua and I've seen a few, but very few, new Fords there. However, I don't know how long that dealership will survive. I say that because there was significant unrest in the country just over two years ago that significantly curtailed the economic expansion that was just getting started. And from what little is getting out about it the pandemic is running rampant down there at present. So the struggling economy is going to be even worse.
  19. And my son is interested in the new Bronco. Which is saying a LOT as he's shown no interest in any Ford product heretofore. But he wants one, badly. And he knows more about them than I do, and I've been reading about them. So it looks to me like Ford hit a home run - assuming that the vehicle lives up to the advertising.
  20. Thank you I don't know why I did not think to use a meter to see if 1 side was grounded all ready I think what is throwing me off is the replacement pig tail has pink & tan wires but what I found and you are showing list the B - Y H wire and not what the pig tail has. Guess they could use any color wire to make it? Thanks again Dave ---- Ford was pretty good about using the same colors across models of vehicles, but they might have changed the color to the A/C clutch at some point. Dunno. Anyway, if there are two wires it isn't likely one is grounded, but it won't hurt to check.
  21. Scott - I actually thought about asking you to tell her that the roller coaster is in the yard next door. That couple's 6 year old niece is living with them so we loaned it to them. They have a nice hill in the back yard and she is having fun!
  22. I installed the visor, clipped the inboard bracket to the visor, marked and drilled the holes, and installed the bracket. No problem at all.
