  1. Does look to be the right pump for several different calibration codes, all of which say "ex-California". Which is interesting because California is one of the places that require them, so I'm not sure what the demand is for this one.
  2. Looks to be the right part. But I don't know if the NOS ones are as good as the aftermarket ones. The original ones break, so do the aftermarket ones?
  3. Ok, I guess the term "GPS" wasn't what I mean. More navigation. But it was just a thought, and probably should be a fleeting thought. And an Android head unit might have been nice, but is it single DIN? I'm limited to that due to the switches, which is why I'm interested in the mirror/camera/display combo. As for "finishing", where's the fun in that? Seriously though, I'm getting close to having the big ticket items done, but there are soooooo many "little" items to do. Like the Explorer emblem on the right rear. The front of it is loose so I've taped it on so it doesn't break off. I got in some Gorilla mounting tape today so will some day pry the emblem off, gently, apply tape, cut out the openings, and the stick it on. But there's the fog light relay. And then the backup light relay and all the wiring, plus backup lights themselves. Remind me what you guys have used for aux backup lights? And the cable for the OX locker came in today. As did the LightDims, finally. And the new switch for the front locker in Mission Control. Then the compressor. And finally, air conditioning. But today I installed the new vacuum gauge. The shot on the left shows how much it cleaned things up, and the shot on the right is my view, confirming that the tach is quite visible. Thanks again, David!
  4. That's the kind of Bronco I'd want to buy - ready to go. Wow is right!
  5. Bill - Wouldn't it be cool if there was a way to put GPS info in the rear view mirror? Toggle between rear view mirror, rear view camera, and GPS map?
  6. Thanks for that offer, but I think those are out of my league. But it is good to know it can be done.
  7. Jim - Strange! I don't know what to suggest. Good luck. Bill - You are right on asking the doctor what to take. Mine said not to take ibuprofen as they think it reduces the body's reaction to the vaccine, but they aren't sure. I took Tylenol when I needed it, which wasn't very often. But glad you are doing well.
  8. The hinge is probably too long, so maybe the rough spot is in a section you'll cut off?
  9. That is the real deal. There aren't very many of the true Super Camper Specials around, as explained in this article from Hagerty. But only the Super Camper Special had the spare tire spot in the side of the bed, which was only possible because the wheelbase was lengthened. Whomever is selling that one doesn't know what he has.
  10. Chris - We've joked recently that we need a new emoticon with Numberdummy's hound's picture as the button, and when pressed it would embed "ACES" for Another Clueless Ebay Seller". But in this case it would say "There's Chris' picture!"
  11. Thanks, Jim. I hope to show later today how it looks installed. And, to say I'm stoked would be an understatement. I woke up several times in the night thinking of how I'm going to install it! On the camera/mirror/display idea, I really do hope Chris starts that thread as I want to participate, but more importantly find out what options others know about. I didn't know about the Brandmotion one that he mentioned, and I think it is pretty much what I want. As for seeing the ball, backing out of alleys, etc, Janey's 2014 MB has a birdseye view that beats the top end one on my 2015 F150 hands down. No comparison. Somehow it stitches together the output from several cameras to give a perfect view of the car from above. Blue's system works fairly well, but having seen the MB's view it pales. However, it is so far ahead of nothing that I know what I'm lacking, and want some of it. Chris - Please start that thread!
  12. Jim - Sorry to see you are having so many problems. Did this just happen suddenly? Did Huck's gauges never work right? Bill - We had the 70's yesterday, which prompted me to wash and wax Big Blue. But today a front came in and the temp was only in the 50's, which when coupled with the breeze wasn't conducive to playing with water. But in comparison to what others have had it was very pleasant. And I'm glad you got the 2nd shot. I had Moderna and the 2nd shot gave me some aches and pains for a few days, but nothing to worry about. They say that lets you know it is working.
  13. Depends on what you mean by "dirty". An '82 F150 I bought had a pitted windshield that had sat out in the open for years with the white paint from the roof oxidizing and coming down onto the windshield when it rained. The paint was in the pits and it caused a horrible haze when trying to see through the windshield. I tried everything anyone mentioned, from abrasives to vinegar to muriatic acid held in place with little dams of clay, but nothing helped, much less fixed it. The fix in the end was a new windshield, by which time I'd already spent an appreciable portion of the cost thereof in chemicals.
  14. Chris - Why not start a thread on those kinds of devices? You would get a lot more input than from the few that are following this thread. Dane - Yes, it is very nice! I'm thrilled. Now I have to figure out how to mount it. I'm thinking that I can screw the mount to the plastic shroud that goes around the steering column and it should be easy. Boy, it is going to look better. Hopefully I'll have pics to show tomorrow.
  15. I agree that an HD F250, not the light duty version, would be a good starting point. They have the same frame as an F350. And I agree that a 4WD version isn't the best combo w/the TTB and leaf springs, but they aren't too bad. But an '86 F350 4x4 would have the solid front axle so you'd have the best of both worlds.
  16. Interesting. You have one book that does all of that? And it is for the medium and heavy duty trucks? I think the books for our trucks are for the light duty trucks and each of those titles is a separate book.
  17. I don't think you'd have to have the plug. If I remember correctly the connection in the alternator is a 1/4" male, so if you had an insulated 1/4" female you could use it instead of the plug.
  18. That is a very nice truck! Wonder what it'll go for?
  19. We had a successful trip to town today to run errands. Took Big Blue and have several observations. The first thing I noticed was that the engine feels like it is much bigger. Acceleration is much quicker and easier due to the move of the throttle stud on the carb's linkage. However, that also seems to have had the effect of making the speed control a bit more sensitive, which makes sense. So I'm going to explore moving the speed control's linkage to a different spot on the carb. Since I have several throttle cables I might remove the end from one and put it on another stud and attach the speed control to that and have the best of both worlds. And, the radio is a hit! Janey likes it and we both think it sounds much, much better than the old one. Plus not having to connect a phone to it electrically each time you get in is a big plus. In fact, I got a call just after getting in and I didn't have to scramble and connect the phone in order to answer. Just pushed the Call button and we were talking. And another observation - the bottom indicator on the Battery Parallel switch isn't easily visible in the daytime. It is probably just right at night, but not so in bright light. I briefly thought about changing the wiring so the top LEDs are the indicators of when the switch/function is on as those are brighter, but they are the ones with the graphic to tell which switch is which, and that's what I want to be able to see at night - without being blinded. Speaking of which, the LightDims still haven't come in the mail, and they are two days late and counting. But, speaking of the mail, the new switch for the front locker did come today, so I can pull Mission Control apart and change out the switch. Which also means it is time to address the brightness of the switch indicators, assuming the LightDims do finally come in. And, last but certainly not least, I got a surprise from David/1986F150Six in the mail. The nice note with it said in part "I cringe each time I see Big Blue's dash with the vacuum gauge. This will look better." And boy, is he right! It is NOS and, as he pointed out, it is not only period correct with the instructions dated June of '82, but it has silver trim like my bezels! It is lighted and so much more attractive than my old tuneup vacuum gauge. THANK YOU, DAVID!
  20. Yes, it could certainly be part of the problem. And that looks like the connector right at the battery.
  21. The vans (E-Series), Broncos (U-Series), and pickups used the same seats, as this illustration shows:
  22. Get the opinions of others on here, but I think Big Blue's brakes are now excellent.
  23. Are you sure you need discs in the rear. I’m running drums with hydro boost and the brakes are everything I want. As for frame boxing, there’s not going to be much, if any, twisting back of the cab when you put a steel flatbed on. And with a 300 six you won’t be hitting with serious torque. So I don’t see the need to box it.
  24. That's a cool truck, Cory. And $5300 CDN is currently $4217 US. I'm not sure what it would take to bring it into the US, but it would be a good start at making a work rig.
