  1. Bill - I just tagged you to the previous post 'cause I am sure you need to see it. Anyway, the security system is installed. All I have left to do is to install the pin switches in the toolbox and do some more programming. I have done some programming as I turned Silent Choice on such that a single push of Lock arms the system, locks the doors, and flashes the lights. But it takes a 2nd push to get the siren & horn to sound - like if you really want everyone to know it has an alarm system. But I need to adjust the shock sensor since banging on the truck didn't set it off. And there are other things I want to test. Here how the wiring under the dash cover turned out: And here's how I wired it:
  2. Do you know where all of the connectors are? I don't. And while the EVTM usually tells it isn't always on the same page where the connector is shown. I have a file that has the whole of the '85 EVTM and I sometimes open it up and search for the connector just to find where it is shown. This may be a huge effort, but I won't know until I try.
  3. I don't know what I did but just emailed you using the Yahoo address.
  4. You are on the map. Do you know Matt in Sedalia? Or Paul in Castle Rock? Several of you out there. You can click on their pin on the map and then click on their email address to send them a note via the fourm. Maybe have a meet?
  5. This discussion is already paying benefits. In wiring for the security system I wanted to tap into the DG/Y wire at the instrument cluster connector. But I really like making SURE I have the right wire so wanted to know which pin that wire is on. The EVTM shows that as C-208A, so I wondered which page in the wiring diagrams that is on and glanced at the screen I had open with C-326 showing. Guess what - it is there just to the right. But there seems to be little rhyme nor reason as to why the connectors are on the page they are on. C-208A isn't used on Page 16. So wouldn't it be nice to have a table that shows something like: Connector # Physical Location Color # of pins Circuit # Link to an illustration showing pinout
  6. Yep, you are right. So, if we got really fancy our table could include the name of the harness. And if you wanted you could then go to Documentation/Electrical/Wiring Harnesses and see the part numbers - for those for which we have that info on the page.
  7. Yes, welcome! Glad you joined. Where's home? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you with a zip or city/state.
  8. I wish, Sergeant does not like to ride in vehicles. But I will try. Wow! You are really on a ROLL!!!! Well done!
  9. Bill - Yes. That was what I was thinking would be the starting point for this exercise. And those are available here: Documentation/Electrical/Wiring Diagrams. We have both the '85 and '86 on site. Here's a page from the '85 diagrams and you can see some of the connector info. But they are scattered over the 16 pages of those diagrams. But since I have those diagrams scanned in as pdf's I can zoom in and show some serious detail, like below. So if we had a table of all the connectors with some info about them and where they are we could also include a link to a shot like the one below. Thoughts, y'all?
  10. Guys - I was just looking for info on a particular connector and it occurred to me that it would be nice to have a list of connectors, locations, pinouts, references to it in the EVTM's, etc. Does this sound helpful? What all should be in it?
  11. Looks like we have two threads on this: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Don-t-know-what-to-file-this-under-td97519.html
  12. Interesting! I would never have guessed that the temp would affect the plastic float. Obviously it must be made out of the wrong material 'cause billions of plastic floats don't have that problem. I wonder if it is expanding with the heat? But that would seem to mean it would float easier and lower the fuel level and this would suggest the fuel level was going too high.
  13. You are on a roll! Well done! My father frequently said "Misery loves company." So in a way I'm glad to see that you said "everything always takes 4 times as long as he thinks". That way I'm not alone. Nor are you, for that matter. But, while it does sound like a lot to do, having done it before it'll go a lot faster this time, as you've already seen. So maybe six or eight good days?
  14. Yep, that's been the death of many boosters.
  15. Yeah, there's not much to it other than the switch, as shown below. Typically oddities are due to grounds, but I can't see grounds doing what you are seeing. So it seems like it must be the switch - although I can't figure out how it could do it either.
  16. Good news on the engine. As for oil pressure, my understanding is that it isn't the pressure of the oil but the presence of oil that provides the lubrication. In other words, you just need enough pressure to ensure oil is at all of the bearings & lifters. But, like you, I like to see "good" oil pressure when my engine is warm. Down around 10 psi at idle makes me nervous. So I understand your plan.
  17. Sounds good. I'm sure it'll look good, but I'll reserve judgement until I see the pics.
  18. I suspect you need the M10 version 'cause that's what the catalog says the seat bolts are. So you'd be looking for N621776. But my searches for that on the internet haven't turned up anything. Nothing from Rear Counter, which is Ford, nor Auveco, which frequently has nuts and bolts for vehicles. So I don't know that your local Ford dealer will be able to get them. But it is worth a try.
  19. Something tells me it won't pass inspection. The "rearview" mirrors actually look forward. The headlights point to the rear. I assume the backup lights are now the headlights, but doubt the front turn signal lights will pass muster for brake lights. But, you do have to give him credit for getting it done. Not that I'd want to, but he did.
  20. Are you planning to rebuild the engine or run it with new gaskets?
  21. Ok, I found these in the Documentation/Reference/Standard & Utility Parts Catalog:
  22. I can't find those things in the MPC. Are you saying they go under the floor of the cab? Or am I misunderstanding?
