  1. Nice truck. But it says "solid front axle" and I thought that didn't happen until '85 1/2 or '86. Can't tell from the pics though.
  2. Man, this is complicated stuff. I'm following and I understand, but I sure don't know what to suggest. But keep on keeping on.
  3. Jonathan - That's because I took the redirect out and you are going directly into the Nabble server. But you can go in via the embedded approach, meaning be on the website, by going here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/. Or start typing "garysgaragemahal" into your browser search line.
  4. Welcome! Glad you joined. What part of Louisiana? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member’s Map in the menu) and we can add you with a city or zip.
  5. I like the Warn Premiums. They are expensive, and other people have said they aren't worth the additional cost. But I think they are. Milemarker I think are often suggested as a better value. My only experience with Milemarkers is that there was a set on my truck when I bought it. One of those was a pretty sloppy-loose fit that allowed stuff to get into the hub. I don't know what was up with that, whether it should reflect poorly on Milemarker or not. But I replaced them with Warn Standards. What I liked about the Warn Standards was the price and the ease of operation (they turn easier than the Premiums and have a bigger handle to grab). What I didn't like was that they are spring-loaded to the "lock" position and held in the "free" position by a pretty light detent. One of mine (I think the passenger side) would pop out of "free" and go to "lock" on it's own pretty frequently. So I replaced them with Warn Premiums (which I also have on my Bronco). As I hinted, the Premiums are a little difficult to turn. That's a significant issue in the winter when I have to take my gloves off to turn them, but otherwise it's not bad. And they work. I've dropped my Bronco so it landed on one of the hubs on a rock. It's pretty dented, but didn't crack and it still works. I think they look good too, although the plating is flaking off the ones on my pickup. I had Mile Markers on Rusty and didn't like them. The screws seized in them, which might of been a problem that was caused at installation. But they were hard to turn as they didn't turn very far. The Warn Premiums turn almost a full turn and are very positive. Not easy to turn, but they aren't going to turn by themselves. I'm pleased with them.
  6. That is good news. Now, do you have power to the Pk/Bk wire coming from the relay to the inertia switch? If not we need to know if the computer is telling the relay to pull in.
  7. You may have missed the email you were sent asking you to go to the New Members Start Here folder, read the guidelines, and then introduce yourself by starting a new thread in that folder. Don't worry, many people do miss it. But that step is important as we hold everyone to the guidelines so want to make sure you've read them. So please assure me you have before posting further?
  8. The little things sometimes become rather large! Yep. And this one has been a serious thorn in my side. I knew there was something truly wrong and didn’t think that the width of the tracks was likely to cause what was happening. So I guess I’m not really surprised to find this, but am very pleased that I did. On the other hand, the cover has to come back off, one more time. But I’m getting pretty good at it.
  9. That’s a bummer, Jim! Sounds like a lot of work. Sorry, but hope it is easier than I think it will be.
  10. I was just told "It's going to be in the next few days but we don't have a specific date." Now you know as much as I know.
  11. Unfortunately we've not solved the log-in problem on the AWS servers so Nabble is going to move us onto the consolidated servers. I don't yet have an idea when that will be, but I've asked them to give us a heads-up and when I have one I'll come back here to let you know. When it happens the forum will be down until I make a DNS change and it replicates. So if one of you that has my cell # or email address happens to find the forum down please let me know ASAP. In order to get ready I've taken the "redirect" off the forum as otherwise I might be unable to get in. In other words, as of now you can go to garysgaragemahal.com or http://bullnose-enthusiasts-forum.12971.n8.nabble.com to get to the forum. The difference is that in the former you have the menus to the rest of the site, and in the latter you don't. (The former is "embedded" on the site.) But when I get things changed I'll put the redirect back on.
  12. Jim and Dane, thanks. Randy - I didn't email anything, although you probably got an email from the forum that contained my post. However, you can no longer email responses to the forum because Nabble killed that function, so if you sent something I didn't get it. Can you post it here?
  13. Thanks, Dane. I’m pretty sure that’s been the problem all along.
  14. The inertia switch was just an easy place to start, kind of in the middle. So if you don't have power to it then you need to move upstream. Check out the wires to the relay. The yellow wire should have power and when the relay closes the Pk/Bk is powered. But not if the relay doesn't close.
  15. Yes, it is a step forward. I've been in this "take one step forward, now take a step back" routine on this thing for quite some time. If you look closely at the pic below, which is the one from the left above just blown up, you can see a wear mark on the black showing where the glides have been riding against the powder coating. And it is easy to see that a glide could catch on that corner. Doh! Why didn't I think of that before? http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/uploads/6/5/8/7/65879365/head-slap-23_orig.gif Anyway, I've now radiused both sides and am waiting on new glides. I think this time I'm breaking out!
  16. Well, bummer! This morning I realized that I can't easily set up the middle brackets on the rails with the cover over the bed. So I played with it a bit and marveled at how easily it slid - like on roller bearings. Then I took the plunge and slid it into the canister. There were several bumps along the way, but nothing too bad. However, when I tried to pull it out it did NOT want to come. But knowing that it had to come out I pulled and got it out, and along the way it hung up several times. And now it doesn't want to slide, so I know I damaged several glides. Given that I got to looking at what could be causing the problem and I'm pretty sure I've found it. If you remember I modified the front of the rails to get full engagement with the slot in the canister. But in the pic on the left you can see that the red arrow is pointing to a sharp corner that could catch the glides as they try to come out of the canister and over that roller. I called Pace Edwards and sent Ed that picture and he agreed with me that I need to radius that corner. In fact he sent me some pics of what it should look like. So I radiused it as shown on the right and he approved it. Now I'm just waiting until I get the new glides in and then I'll have to pull the cover again and replace the bad ones.
  17. Bill - Glad you joined. But you probably missed the email I sent you asking you to go to the New Members Start Here folder, read the guidelines, and then introduce yourself by starting a new thread in that folder. Don't worry, half the people miss that email since our joining process is broken. But please assure me you've at least read the guidelines?
  18. Dane - Thanks. But can you say the bit about the pumpkin in the Almost Final Sticker thread so we can keep track of it?
  19. Well, for whatever reason the last pic won't show. So here 'tis:
