  1. The gasket is something that you should be able to do. It just takes normal tools and patience. The carb might not be. Not only do you need to be able to drill the base of the carb through from one side, which requires a drill press, you then need to press the bushings in and then ream them to ensure the hole is aligned side-to-side. Instead you should consider buying a new carb.
  2. Yes, that is really cool! Did you send them pics and they recreated your truck? Do you have a link?
  3. If I remember correctly, you were generous and sent me the correct adjuster arm since I had this homemade one. And that would explain why this homemade one was at the bottom of my scrap bucket. 95% of my pictures on FTE are GONE. Most were from Imageshack, TinyPic, or Photobucket, so they're no longer visible/accessible. I tend to remember that. But it was after you sent me the tall transmission cover. Anyway, there are at least two problems with pictures on FTE. One is that they aren't stored on FTE but load as you load the post to view it. But that means all of the places from which the pictures are linked to must stay in existence. And many, or maybe even most, don't. In contrast, pictures here are stored here and don't go away. The other is that you cannot right-click and get a link to the pic and then come here, or elsewhere, and load that pic. So I take a screenshot and post that pic here, which is a pain. But pics posted here have a link you can get and then paste that into an Insert Image popup and include it in another post.
  4. Well, at least you found it. And you figured out from whence it came. Wasn't it fun getting that picture off FTE?
  5. It may then be the relay. But the EVTM should help you work through it. And, you are on the map - just across the river from Bob. You can email him through the forum, but be aware that it doesn't look like the email goes and yet it usually does. So just copy yourself on it to see that it went.
  6. I think it only matters when you are trying to get the compression ratio spot-on, or if you are trying to get "quench", which takes the thinnest headgaskets. In your case I'd go with the stock replacement ones from Felpro.
  7. Welcome! Glad you joined, Jesse. Where in SE Michigan? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and can add you with a city or zip. Sounds like you have a lot of trucks! That's great. I think the one who dies with the most Ford trucks wins.
  8. Yes, it makes it hard to remove, but glued to the valve cover you shouldn’t have to remove it.
  9. Silicon is hard to hold. RTV will usually stick to it, but it is as slick as grease until it cures, so if you use a thin smear of it don’t torque the valve cover down until the next day. Better would be contact cement spray. A really light coat to hold the gasket works nicely.
  10. Welcome! Glad you joined. Would you like to be on our map? You can see it at Bullnose Forum/Member’s Map in the menu. On the pumps, the power goes though an inertia switch and if it is tripped there won’t be any power to the pump. It is by the passenger’s left foot under the dash on the firewall. You can see the wiring at Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1985 EVTM.
  11. I’ll bet you didn’t quite get it full. I find it almost impossible to do on the first several tries. So I keep adding a bit after it cools and eventually it’ll be full. But anyway, congratulations!!!!
  12. Yes, I’d connect the isolator after the fuse. And I’d put a megafuse between the aux battery and the aux fuse box.
  13. I saw a new F150 with wheels much like that today. Looked good.
  14. Dave - Have you seen the Crane Cams instructions for how to set up timing on our page at Documentation/Electrical/Ignition?
  15. At Prospector Gulch the Bronco seemed to struggle where I think the Jeep wouldn't have had a problem. And those fans made a lot of noise. At Horselt Gulch it was difficult to watch. Been there, done that, don't wanna do it again! And, who cleaned up that mess down there? "We have movement!" Calamity Canyon had a lot of rocks, for sure! The Bronco seemed to be doing pretty well. And I loved the commentary. Especially the "That's not as fun!" And, back at Horselt Gulch w/o the mud it looked like you and the Bronco are becoming a good team. It seems like you are getting used to it and it is working pretty well. Well done! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Yikes! Those were ROCKS! And a lot thereof. But the Jeep made it well, and all the drivers did great as well. And I particularly liked the running commentary on the video. Especially the "And, cut!"
  17. I'm amazed at where all you could go in the snow with the Jeep. But at times it looks like a front locker would have helped. However, I'm aware that you lose steering then when they both spin, so maybe it would have been worse?
  18. It can't be the same kit as it contains different part numbers, and Ford didn't give the same part different numbers. However, I cannot say that the D3 part won't fit. Just that it isn't the same as the E0 kit.
  19. That may be the issue as your description was very confusing. So maybe with the ignition of it'll make more sense.
