  1. I know that Jonathan's done this, and Bill and I are planning on going with hydroboost. But I need to think through the pump situation. I have the C2 pump and hydroboost setup, including the all-important pedal, that Jim pulled off of the '95 F450 for me. And Jonathan found me a Saginaw serpentine setup from a '90 E350. So I want to use the Sag but need to devise a 2nd return. Bill says a dual-return tank is probably available for the Sag, but I've also read that brazing in a 2nd return is easy. Plus, I've seen others just put a tee in the return. Thoughts? Ideas?
  2. Perhaps I mis-measured? I'll check again tomorrow. But I can't put it on Big Blue 'cause there's a huge winch bumper and winch there.
  3. David sent me a note about a speedo, and I discovered I didn't have info on them. So I added a new page: Electrical/Gauges. This includes the part numbers as well as a blurb on troubleshooting the oil pressure, fuel level, and engine temp gauges. And Bill asked for the factory instructions for removing and replacing a king pin, so I added them to a tab on the page on Front Suspension. Next?
  4. I'm not out anything as Edelbrock is sending the spring for free. But glad you found the link.
  5. How 'bout data pictures? The "legs" are 3/8" plate The insides of the legs are 34" apart The top "bar" is actually a piece of rolled plate that is round on top and flat on the bottom, but with a short lip turned up. It is 3 1/2" top/bottom and 2 1/2" front/back The countersunk screws for the top bar are centered 1 9/16" down and 1 9/16" back The bottom bar is a 2 1/2" tube The countersunk screws for the bottom bar are centered 12 7/8" down and 1 9/16" back The light-mounting tabs are 2" long with 9/16" holes in them and they are centered 6 5/8" from the inside of the legs If there are any other details you want please let me know.
  6. Ron @ Edelbrock is sending me the secondary tension spring, gratis. And the linkage part for the choke is in Edelbrock kit #1873.
  7. Indeed he should. Ron - I have an original Ford-branded brush guard. Would it be helpful for me to measure where the tubes are attached and the sizes of the tubes? That way someone could replicate the original brush guard.
  8. With Brandon's help I cut the whole roof off Huck. I'll tuck it back for September.
  9. I'm sure you did. And thanks to you for the help with Huck and the microfiche viewers. It was a productive day - except we didn't get the carb done.
  10. Dave - Your fenders are looking good, although I'm no body man. As for your brother, I assume you are suggesting he shouldn't have cut up a good fender? But would you have had him ship it to you? Anyway, I hope he does find the other parts. CA seems to be a good place to find things.
  11. First, I know what some of you will be thinking: You're so vain, you probably think these statistics are about you. (Sorry, Carly.) No, I don't think the statistics are about me. I think they are about the resource we are building for all Ford truck nuts out there, and one measure of how well we are doing is statistics. So, let's do the forum first as it is easy: we currently have 102 members. That's up from 70 reported at the end of October. And, according to Google, there are 285 pages on the forum, although I didn't capture that figure the last time I reported. Now for the website, which includes the forum but also the pages of documentation shown in the menu in the header at the top of the page. One view of how effective we are is how many other forums have links to the Garagemahal. Here are some of those having links to us. I didn't capture this info last time, but plan to next time for comparison purposes: FTE: 699 links as of today, but that will go down as some are being removed Full Size Bronco: 92 links Bronozone: 53 links Fordification: 40 links Ford-Ford: 21 links Anyone know 'bout these guys? Hadn't seen them before. F150 Forum: 12 links The Ranger Station: 11 links Oilburners: 5 links Another way to look at things is how many people are viewing the site, which includes the forum. The best info for that comes from Weebly where the site is hosted, and they only provide info for the last month. But here are the number of people accessing the site on a daily basis for the last month. (Disregard the very last data point as that is today and today isn't over by a long shot.) A you can see, the visitor count has basically doubled in the last month, from ~130/day to ~260/day. Then there's the question of how many pages those visitors viewed. As you can see below, page views are up and down significantly, but a month ago they were around 500/day and now they are pushing 1000/day - with yesterday hitting 1498 for an all-time high. (Again, disregard the last data point - today.) Another measure is how many people are coming to us via a search. The info below is from Google, but you can add another 10% for Bing and Yahoo. In other words, 3 months ago there were ~26 clicks that brought people to us on a daily basis, and now we get 63 clicks/day. Meanwhile we've brought the average page position up slightly from 16.2 to 15.3. (Why is "page position" important? Because few people will go to the 2nd page to find something.) Last, what are people looking for when they search and find us? The info for the last month is shown below on the left, but let me translate as it might be difficult to read. The "/ 3641" is how many people went to the forum. Then 297 people went to the page on towing - who would have known that would be so popular? Then 173 people went to the page on DSO codes, apparently trying to decode their certification label. And 157 used the VIN decoder. Another 155 looked at the Motorcraft 2150 documentation; 129 looked at the axle ratio page; 113 the page on frames; 102 used Bill's 1986 EVTM; 101 were interested in engine perches; and 91 went to the 351M/400 page. And the list goes on for another ~400 entries. In other words, essentially every page on the website was viewed at least once in the last month. Is that enough? Is that more than you ever wanted to know?
  12. That would probably be best. But wherever works.
  13. Jim - Thanks. Your first pic is ever so close. We need to see the whole of the link that goes past the air cleaner stud and operates the choke as one that we have doesn't seem to fit and the other isn't long enough. Also, we need to see the spring that's on the backside of the divider there that the Torx-head clamp screw and the slotted adjuster go through. IIRC, that spring wraps around the secondary air valve shaft and provides the tension that determines when the air valve opens. You put a screwdriver in the slot, loosen the Torx-head screw, and turn the slotted adjuster for more or less tension.
  14. Ahhh! Maybe that is what he is saying. Do you have the old inlet seats? If you measured the threads on those it might answer the question. And, yours is an 1805? Perhaps pics of the secondary tension spring, which I am just remembering but can't find pics of? And, of the link between the choke shaft and the choke butterfly?
  15. No, there was nothing wrong with the carb. Standard inlet seats worked fine. It was the seats from the kit Brandon bought that were wrong. Instead of 5/16-24 threads they had X-1.0 metric threads. Close, but no cigar.
  16. His Eddy is a manual choke version, although we plan to see if we can swap the electric choke from an Eddy AFB to it.
  17. Jonathan - I have an Edelbrock manual choke cable, which is very nice, but I can't find anything beyond that for manual choke conversions on their site. And everything I find on-line looks like a Dorman or HELP unit. Sorry. But, I did find a promising hit on a thread on FTE where a guy by the name of 1986F150Six converted his. Looks like he used a Dorman unit, but you might ask him if that's true.
  18. It was, indeed, a productive day. I'd never have gotten the top off Huck by myself, nor the microfiche viewers put away up high. Thanks! That AVS was a mess, for sure. And unless we can find the two pieces, the secondary tension spring and the choke link, it isn't usable yet. But maybe Edelbrock can help us. As for that kit, it was awful. I've never seen inlet seats that have the wrong threads on them. But those did. And the hole in the accelerator pump was too small to take the S link. However, we got lucky as there were new inlet seats in the carb cabinet, and a drill bit opened up the hole nicely. What is the brand of that kit? I don't want to use one of them again.
  19. Thanks, Bill. But as said in the email. I can't find the parts we need in the exploded view nor the parts list. Maybe the book would help, but are parts still available?
  20. No, it is Chris' Heathkit. And it may go back to him since he's finishing out quite the garage and may want it.
  21. Does anyone have a complete exploded view of the AVS - aka Air Valve Secondary? Also known as the Edelbrock Thunder Series. Brandon has one and we attempted to rebuild it today. But we are missing two parts and need to find out their part numbers or official names to see if we can find replacements. The two parts we need are: The tension spring for the air valve. It is just missing on this carb. The link from the choke shaft to the choke plate. There is one with it but it must be the wrong one as it doesn't fit properly. We borrowed one from an AFB/Performer carb and it isn't long enough, although it has the right bends and it fits correctly. We've found various exploded views, but none really show those parts. And, they aren't in any parts list we've found.
