  1. Dad's 1356 has had that added. But Big Blue is running a 1345. Hmmm, I wonder ......
  2. Kyle - Do you know anything about that carb? Did you buy one? I ask because it is hard to believe it could cover all the years and applications properly. Supposedly it works on a 240 to a 300 w/o rejetting? One reviewer said it worked well on his 240, but another said it had a "funny spot" when accelerating, which would probably indicate it is lean then. And that would be expected if it was right for a 240 and used on a 300. But, I'm intrigued by the statement at the bottom:
  3. Wow, that is PRETTY! And, not a bad price. But, what's this about the North Pole? And, welcome! I know you from somewhere. FTE?
  4. Kyle - Welcome! You've come to the right place, for sure. And, as said on FB, your story warms my heart. Y'all, when he said his "papa's" truck I think he means his grandfather's. And, as I told him on FB, being a grandfather myself that really warms my heart. I'd really appreciate my grandson doing that for me.
  5. Yes, please keep your eye out for one. As for gear vs chain, I'd probably install a 205 if I had it available. But I don't so I'll claim the reason I'm not worried about it is the lower ratio on what I have.
  6. Did they lay them in the snow? Anyway, I'll be they are pretty. As for the shroud, I don't know how big of a deal it is that the shroud fits the fan closely. But, you could always find the fan blade to fit whatever shroud you find.
  7. That part number is for the cap assembly only, which is what this appears to be. HOWEVER, it is for the Dana 44 axle, not the Dana 50 or 60 as claimed. The D44 part number is E1TZ 1K104-B, and the D50 and D60 # is E0TZ 1K104-B.
  8. 81 on F100/350(Regular Cab and Super Cab)(99) — exc. with dual rear wheels 83 on F350 (Crew Cab) E1TZ 9047-C marked #EUA-CA Use with midship fuel tank
  9. David/1986F150Six supplied a link to a hub for sale on ebay. That hub fits a bunch of the trucks, but there was another hub used as well. The one below is an E1, or 1981 design. But the other is a D9, or 1979 design. In fact, it is part # D9TZ 1104-A, which was replaced by D9TZ 1K105-A. So if someone can find a pic of those we might have an answer.
  10. Are you sure that is the original headliner? I've never seen one like that, and the catalog only shows the normal carpeted ones that are "flat". For instance, in 1983 it was part # E3TZ 1051944, followed by a suffix like B2U, which is tan.
  11. Well, that was so easy that I've added the full parts listing for all of the engines now. A total of 95 pages added today.
  12. He's looking for a married one, I think. But I'll ask to make sure. Both he and Scott have them in their 78's, but they aren't about to give them up. I tried. But, in reality I like the 2.74 low gear of the BW1345 that I have in Big Blue as opposed to the 1.96 of the NP205. The difference is that at 2000 RPM in 1st on a wide-ratio ZF5 I'll be doing 3 MPH where an NP205 would have me going 5 MPH. And, I found that easily using the new calculator. (Really helpful to have your own info loaded in. )
  13. David, can you tell us again where you suggested to buy a rebuild carburetor that tests for shaft play and actually delivers a quality unit? I looked through our emails but I’m not finding the place you mentioned... Rockauto; the Autoline carburetors. They are remanufactured in Canada and mine came with new bushings. Ok, I got a response from Tim Meyer and he says he can do a one-wire dizzy for the 300 six. Not that anyone right here is planning to buy one, but he'd like a good pic of a DS-II dizzy for the 300. Anyone have a good pic they want to submit?
  14. My friend, Ben the fabricator, asked me the other day if I know where an NP205 is for his Jeep. He's found a right-drop Chevy unit, but needs a left-drop married Ford unit. So, if you know of one please let me know. And, by the way, his name is Ben Compton and I think he'll be joining. He has a '78 F150 and wants some help on it. Speaking of which, his and my friend Scott Ringler, the welder man, also has a '78 F150 and has joined. So look for a thread from him in the near future.
  15. And Gary has added it here: Fuel Systems/Carburetors, Chokes, & EFI/EFI and then the Pinout tab. Let me know how it works for y'all as I have things I can fine tune on it if need be.
  16. Ron - I don't have them anymore to tell for sure, but my remembrance is that the FORD lettering was embossed into the plastic on Dad's and there wasn't any label.
  17. I loved the simplicity of the constant-velocity carbs on motorcycles, so can imagine how well they did on the E-Type. Anyway, from what I found today the 1980 - 82 300's had 8.9:1 compression and should be the best for MPG. That's of course if they aren't already worn out, and if rebuilt that the replacement pistons give the same CR. Slip an EFI intake and exhaust on, add EEC-V wiring and computer, maybe replace the cam, and you'd have the best of all worlds.
  18. Yes, Jonathan shared a link to that with David and I recently. But, it is cool!
  19. Jonathan - You have a point, but only amounts to a little bit of compression. The '84 and '86 documents on the Specifications tab show that the exhaust valves have different heads for the under-8500 GVW engines as opposed to those over 8500. Under has "flat head" exhaust valves, and those over have "flexible head" valves. That suggests to me that the valve heads are dished on the HD engines and actually, because of the dish, give a bit when they seat. But, I think the difference in cc's and, therefore, compression ratio would be pretty small. Anyway, I do hope you can get some of the others with 300 experience to join the conversation.
  20. Jonathan has just suggested, and rightly so, that I move some of the discussion regarding the 300 six to a new thread from the gear ratio calc thread so we can pursue both topics more thoroughly. So this will be the initial post to open up the thread and I'll start moving the other posts over......
  21. Today I was adding the 351W part #'s to the website since Don/Pebcak wanted to know the part number for the valve cover bolts, and as I was starting to cut and paste screen shots I had an idea - why not just put the whole pdf for the 351W on? So, I created a new pdf with just the 351W's parts, all 16 pages, and added it. All in all it might have taken 5 minutes - instead of the much longer process of taking screen shots and pasting them on the web page. Plus, it is searchable! Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Full Screen" icon in the lower right and it'll open the doc on a new tab in your browser. And on that tab you can search for names or #'s, zoom in, etc. I got so excited that I did the same thing for the 300 six and the 351M/400. Go check it out for yourself - see the Part #'s tabs on each of these pages: Engines/300 Six Engines/Windsor and the 351W tab Engines/351M and 400
  22. You can see the clips and fasteners and their part numbers here on the Overall tab: Driveline/Brakes. But that doesn't mean you can find them. We really need to find a source. Or, start making them via 3D printing?
  23. I will be asking about this. Thank you for letting me know. Things have stalled a little with weather, truck being outside and normal life happening. I'm hoping to get the other head off this weekend. I also have a bunch of stuff queued up in my RockAuto Cart. HERE is a screenshot. Can I get a second opinion that I've got the correct parts? I read descriptions and with my knowledge I think I've got all the correct stuff. My problem is I can't find the valve cover replacement bolts. Anyone know where they might be? I know they're probably sticking out and I'm just overlooking them. Don - The first thing that jumps out at me is the Fram filter. I've heard and read way too much bad about them, including at the parts stores, so don't use Fram. I'd go with an Motorcraft instead. On the plugs and wires, I assume that's what your truck calls for, but don't know. As for the exhaust stuff, the Amazon says the gaskets and studs/bolts are correct. And they confirm that the head and valve cover gaskets are correct. And now, about the valve cover bolts. If you go to the Engines/Windsor page and click on the 351W tab you'll see a tab marked Illustrations. Click it and scroll down and you'll find that you need 387549's. But, what are they? And how many thereof? Click on the Part #'s tab and you'll be presented with the 16 pages from the MPC on the 351W engine. Wouldn't it be nice if you could search that bad boy for that #? YOU CAN! Scroll to the bottom of the webpage, not the catalog pages, and click on the Full Screen icon in the lower right. That will open the document in a new browser page, and there should be a way to "Find" on that page. On Chrome it is the spyglass in the upper right, but it opens a Find function in the upper left. Type in the part number and hit Enter. (Note that you don't need 25 of them for the valve covers - that would include the oil pan.) Now, if it had been anyone but Pebcak there might have been some worry about following all of those instructions, but I'm sure there's no problem between the chair and the keyboard.
