  1. I forgot to ask about the top hat hubs. Anyone have a pic? A description?
  2. I hope your box is a tight as the RedHead I put on Dad's truck. There is absolutely NO slop in it. Have fun! And, while you have the box off, check the frame for cracking.
  3. What is the "edit window" vs the "reply window"? Are you editing a reply? Maybe this is why I haven't been able to duplicate it.
  4. I wasn't aware your font was that small. But maybe change the max width of the message? Maybe you wouldn't have to scroll? On the pic, I've edited it and shrunk it to 100 x 101 pixels, which then doesn't require any movement of the red window. I then added it as my avatar on my Test forum. You can see it here: http://test-forum.16643.n8.nabble.com/Lack-Of-Resources-tp12.html. Tell me what you think. I can edit it more if needed, and when it is as you like it then I can send it back so you can add it to yours. And all of this needs to get written up in the Bullnose Forum FAQ's.
  5. Don't know that I can help with the banner and footer, but you can change the font size on your device: On the avatar, I can't figure out how to create one or edit one using the touch screen because the crop window won't move. So what if you send me your to-be avatar pic and I edit it so it comes up where it doesn't have to have the window moved? I'll send it back and you can install it.
  6. I think you have it all well under control Pebcak! What are your plans for gaskets and seals? Buying a kit? If your truck didn't already have it, a 1pc oil pan gasket is nice. I don't know when they switched over to 1pc gaskets...sometime in the later 80's...'87? Somebody on here will know. I installed one of the Fel-Pro Perma-Dry Plus gaskets...they're like 4x the price of the 4pc cork jobbie...so $32 instead of $8 bucks, but a little peace of mind I suppose. I used the same ones for the valve cover gaskets, and again, they're expensive, but seal nicely. When I bought my '84 w/302 a couple years ago it was really low mile...but the 35 year old gaskets were leaking like the Exxon Valdez!! Something else I did was buy my front and rear main seals from Ford, but had the engine shop install them. I'm sure the aftermarket seals are fine, but somebody fussier than me suggested the Ford OEM seals, so that is what I went with. They're fairly inexpensive IIRC. Probably wouldn't hurt to get the engine shop to check the oil pump when they have the block. They can measure it to make sure it's still within spec. Are you going to be installing the cylinder heads on the block yourself? Check the head bolt holes in the block...specially the lower ones, and see if they're open to the coolant jacket? If yes, then you will need to use a thread sealant on them. This may only be an issue with the 302...I'm not sure, but sometime in the mid 1980's, Ford lightened up those blocks and the head bolt holes went from being "blind" to open. Somebody on here may know more about this topic than me, but it's something to keep in mind. If you're getting the engine shop to assemble the heads on the block, then it's not a worry for you, but you can bring it up with them anyway. If you're going to install the engine at home and do your own break-in, etc, it wouldn't hurt to order an oil pump priming rod. I think they're pretty cheap. When I arrived at the engine shop the day they were breaking in and dyno tuning my engine, they were priming the oil system when I got there. The drill had the trigger lock on and the handle was up against the radiator hose. Just thought I'd throw some ideas out there while I was having my morning coffee (the first cup!). I know this is a budget build and it's easy for me to spend your money...lol, but just some ideas is all;). Those are good ideas, Cory. I didn't know the 351W went to open holes on the head bolts. I've not dealt with newer W's so didn't know. But lots of engines did have open holes somewhere, and you have to use sealant on those bolts. On the one-piece pan gasket, I don't know when that changed either.
  7. The movie was like watching a high school play. The story line was good but the acting poor. On the buttons, I'm at a loss. So I'll turn Sumo completely off and see what happens. But, what about the Gary's Garagemahal (The Bullnose bible)? Was it there? If not, was its absence less intrusive?
  8. Thanks, Shaun. I forget how much of an oddball 1987 trucks were.
  9. Yippee! Progress! As for the wiring diagram, you need to learn how to use the menu to the hidden gems on the website. If you go to Electrical/EVTM/1985 EVTM you'll see the contents of the 1985 Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, which has all of the wiring diagrams for the 1985 trucks. If you click on Start & Ignition (Gasoline Engines) you'll find the ignition diagrams, including this one:
  10. Dane - Can you send that picture? Maybe I can share it with them.
  11. The catalog says that is E7TZ 7277-B for only 1987 F 150/350.U 150 All 4-speed transmissions. I don't know why only 1987.
  12. That's kinda expensive, but you don't see those things very often. And I've not seen a chrome push bar in a long time.
  13. I think I saw the original movie in my childhood, but Janey mentioned it earlier today and I found the newer one, which is the one we'll watch. Anyway, I think I found a way to turn Gary's Garagemahal (The Bullnose bible) off on only the forum's page. So see what you think and let me know, please.
  14. Janey and I are going to watch a movie, A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court, so I may not respond quickly. But see if the social buttons are off.
  15. But, I just discovered that I didn't turn Gary's Garagemahal (the Bullnose bible) off for just the forum page, I turned it off for the whole website. And while there's a link at the bottom of each page on the forum to take you back to the main section of the forum, there isn't any obvious way to get back when you are on any other page on the website. So, I turned the header back on - for now. The issue can be resolved when/if we revise the website layout. If we make the forum an obvious pick on the menu it would work. (You can actually click twice on Bullnose Forum and get there now, but it isn't obvious. Anyway, if you are ready to test at some point let me know and I'll turn the header off again to see if that works. Meanwhile I'll see if I can figure out why it turned the header off for all pages, not just the forum's page(s).
  16. That's a symptom of more things than places to put them. Don't ask how I know.
  17. Jim - I just used another option on Sumo and think I got the social icons turned off on mobile devices. They don't seem to show on mine now.
  18. I've never seen one crack in 'several' places...but ours did crack in one place in the housing a couple months ago, and I'd never seen such a thing before. There were three cracks that I could get my thumbnail into. And all three leaked. Nothing we can figure out to explain why it cracked. In fact, it hasn't been used much of late.
  19. I think you are fairly close. I estimate that it costs a minimum of $2000 to rebuild an engine, and you'll guessing $2100.
