  1. Those of use who are retired appreciate the help remembering what day it is. You see, we have 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday, and the hard part is remembering which Saturday is the one before Sunday. I guess you are saying today is that day. Thanks!
  2. No, I don't believe they are from Ford. I've not seen them in any of the accessory catalogs, much less the parts catalog.
  3. Got a response back from Nabble last night at 11:29: Yep, that's what it says.
  4. 1981 was the changeover year from sliders to pin locks. So some had sliders and some pins.
  5. Now that I've made it safely back from the test drive, I will agree and say "thanks!" It started right up, drove well...no problems. It was driving fine before, so rebuilding the carb was mostly for peace of mind. I've also realized that the cleaned and painted air cleaner and oil fill cap really highlight just how gross the rest of the engine room is. I'm going to have to give some real thought to a cleanup program: Congrat's on the successful carb rebuild. As for the engine compartment, one piece at a time.
  6. That is the correct booster for: 81/83 F250 - - 2/W/D, 4/W/D and dual piston,w/booster-8500 GVW and over. If that describes your truck then it would fit. But boosters usually go bad because the get brake fluid in them due to the master cylinder leaking. So make sure the master cylinder isn't leaking before you replace the booster. You can do that by pulling the two nuts holding the M/C to the booster and moving it forward to allow you to inspect the interface for brake fluid.
  7. That's sorta why I'm asking the question. It seems to me that properly functioning drum brakes would more easily be able to stop the rotation than disc brakes just given the leverage, not to mention the swept area. Given the reports I've read on hydroboost, and the braking capability of Darth, then.....
  8. Correct for 1980 only: EOTZ 1020000-AD (Not replaced 3/90) (A) Red (1980) (B) Silver
  9. I held in my hands a new one that looked just like that while at LMC the other day. Granted it was $400, but it uses today's materials. So, while this one is 5/8's the cost, I'll bet it turns brittle soon. I'd put my money on a new one.
  10. Electric! Wow! Never seen one of those. And the vehicle would also have a block heater?
  11. That article says: But what it doesn't say is that engines can be designed for the boost. My 3.5L EB was, and has been tested in really harsh conditions and survived. And, as I've said, I'd much prefer to tow with that than Big Blue's 7.5L. The smaller engine's turbos give the low RPM torque that's needed, and when you take it to the mountains you don't lose any power nor economy. And, speaking of economy, it gets the same towing as Big Blue does running light.
  12. You don't have hydroboost on Darth, so it is just that the brakes are working correctly? Couldn't all be the big rear brakes, right?
  13. Um...because it's awesome? There aren't too many special editions out there that interest me, but I'd totally drive a Tonka Truck. Of course it's probably priced accordingly, but still. Is it $110K worth of awesome? https://www.cjponyparts.com/resources/ford-f150-tonka I grant that 700 HP sounds good, but for the price....
  14. Cory - Cool show. And nice to have a brother. But, who let the Stepside in? But the wrecker is cool, although I'd never heard "as cool as the other side of the pillow". I kinda like that.
  15. I really like knowing that each part of the vehicle is working right. So I see no problem going through a carb and finding it was working correctly. It just ticks one more box in the "all these are correct" column.
  16. Bill - What's the reasoning behind the move to disc? I grant that Big Blue's brakes are marginal with a load on, but suspect they aren't working properly and hope that the move to the bigger '95 F350 brakes in front and hydroboost all 'round will solve that problem.
  17. Welcome, Blake! Glad you joined and good to meet you. I've been to Calgary, on business as I worked for Conoco, and to Banff sightseeing. Oh, and onto the glacier as well. We can surely help you and I'm sure you can help us. We are family here.
  18. I agree - get the kit with the Speedisleeve. And if you don't use it put it on the shelf as someone will come along that needs it. Like Steve/FoxFord33 did in my shop.
  19. Indeed! I agree. They are neat. But, since not much changed from this one to my 1985 book I'll pass.
  20. Which says "Painted Custom Tonka Tailgate Cladding with Embossed Tonka Logo"
  21. I've never heard of a Tonka package for a Ford truck. Not saying they wouldn't, but why would they?
