1981 F150 300 Oregon
Gary Lewis replied to grumpin's topic in eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, & Kijiji Finds
But it appears to be very straight, so would make a really nice truck. Appears to have been well maintained, but the "needs replaced soon" list was rather long. I wonder what he knows. And, it is an Explorer. -

What MPG did you get with that rig running light? That's roughly what Big Blue will be when I'm done. (Note that I didn't fall into the trap of using "460" and "MPG" in the same sentence. ) -

On board this and that... What about a battery charger
Gary Lewis replied to Danny G's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
If you do add a charger then don't implement a Cole-Hersee smart battery isolator in its normal wiring plan. Because if you do you'll raise the battery voltage to 13.2 volts and the CH isolator will parallel the batteries. Been there, done that. The solution is to run the ground for the CH isolator through a relay that is triggered by the ignition switch. That way the isolator won't come in unless the vehicle is running. -
E-brakes are good. But read up and ask around about the brake controller for the truck. There are several kinds.

Yes, the box is HEAVY! And when you have a nicely painted frame and box and are not wanting to bang one into the other it makes it even harder to get in place. But glad you got it in, and certainly glad it made a huge difference. I do hope things loosen up a bit with driving.

That tailgate has seen better days. But there doesn't seem to be much rust, so the price isn't too bad. -
1980 NOS Factory CB Radio Microphone
Gary Lewis replied to salans7's topic in eBay, Craigslist, Facebook, & Kijiji Finds
The Bullnose wiring is PN E0TZ 18A919-A. Don't know what the ID # would be, but it will start with E0. -
These are what I expected, and what I remember them looking like as well. However, these are the E0 versions, meaning 1980 ones, and there were later ones that might have looked different. This is from the our page on them. I don't know the difference between the -A and -B ones, but both were black.

Frank - As I thought, all mine are A/C liners. But I have a cardboard and a plastic one spare. The cardboard one is ok, but the plastic one is cleaner. However, it has a repair, as shown below. It is yours if you want it for the shipping. Just send me an email with your address and I'll get whichever one you want off to you.

You said the following: But you didn't give us any pics to prove it? Shaun - Do you read lips? I only have 6 bolts in as that's all that was on Big Blue's previous clutch plate. But this one takes 8 so I'll take a trip to the parts store soon. Anyway, here's a before/after shot:

Gary shouldn't be allowed out w/o a supervisor. However, this flywheel looks like it came from an Erector set with all the holes. I think you could bolt on a Honda clutch. As for an emoji/smiley, point me to one. But, if you want pics then I can get them this afternoon - after and before church.

Ok. Keep us posted.

Jim - Thanks. I missed this. And it has taken me a long time to get my head around it. Operative word is "has" as I'm not sure it is in the past tense. In any event, we do have two Lester #'s posted here: Documentation/Electrical/3G Conversion and on the Choosing An Alternator tab. But if you have more please post them here and I'll get them included. (And if you already have and I've missed that then I'm sorry.)

Dave - I think you are right about the cables. I haven't found the reference, but somewhere we discussed cables and there were something like two changes in the Bullnose era. I'm still looking ....

Gary Lewis replied to Danny G's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Are you going to use a sound mat or somesuch on the roof panel before installing the headliner? -
WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

I wouldn't have thought you could get all that in there, but you did! And it looks like it will be solid. Well done. -
First, that steering column is a work of art! (Did you adjust the new switch?) But I'm not sure I understand about the thread. Do you have a link? And, I know I don't understand about swapping the vacuum lines. But, I'll guess that you are using an earlier control in place of a later one. If I remember correctly, the vacuum lines themselves are the same, but the connector to the control is different. So I think you can swap the controls as long as you use the earlier vacuum connector and hoses. Or, has the three football games today lowered my already limited intelligence to a new low?

I forgot to look today. I might have one, and will look tomorrow. BUT, mine will be the A/C version that is shorter, and will be made of cardboard like the early ones. However, in Feb of '85 they came out with glove box liners made of plastic, and that's what I like to use. I'll look tomorrow after church to see if I have one and let you know.

Interesting. I wonder how many F250HD's came with the C package? Maybe I should get a Marti report on BB? But, I'm changing so much...
